BB Storm2 9550/9520 :: Is There App To Disable Click Screen?
Feb 16, 2010how that would make the perfect storm, for me! I downloaded a theme that has touch icons on the homescreen that opens up your programs without having to click in the screen. I'm thinking if this is possible from the homescreen then it would be possible throughout the entire OS, right? I would pay big bucks for that!
I'm loving my Storm 2 with the latest leak!

Feb 16, 2010lately my storm has been making a unusual metallic clicking sound instead of the smooth clicking sound. It happens intermittently when texting. The screen also feels slightly loose when this happens. anybody know whats wrong??

Aug 18, 2010I want to use crunchsms for txt messages.I know that I should disable sms in the firewall so I dont get duplicates. My question is however: Can I keep sms enabled on both but just disable the message notification symbol and sound?I want to do this because my theme's homescreen shows my sms's and blocking them would make it look weird.

Mar 17, 2010I just got a replacement Storm 2 dated Mar 6, 2010. My old Storm worked pretty well but sometimes the bottom row buttons would stick, especially when using the Seidio extended battery with the plastic battery cover. I have a week or so to try both out before sending back the old one.
The new screen feels more... buttery. Its smooth. Buttery smooth. The old screen is clickier. The bottom row buttons on the new screen are a little sloppy compared to when you press the middle of the screen. Does anyone else notice this? I don't like that.But so far the new screen hasn't locked up on the bottom row as much, especially when trying to use it while the Storm is lying on a table.
For typing, the old screen seems just a bit faster, maybe just a bit less pressure required. New screen is a bit harder to type on but smoother.The old screen has a warmer white color than the old, but that is OK the old was fairly "blue".I don't know for sure yet which I like better! But will update here as I find more. If new screen prevents "hard button" syndrome than that's probably enough.

Jan 22, 2010I received a replacement phone yesterday and the screen was amazing. I type faster on my replacement then my computer. Problem is the silver molding was all rough as if someone forgot to replace the molding. So I called it in. My 2nd replacement is brand new. The screen is very similiar in touch except I have to push down a little harder. My question is, does anyone know how to make it click easier? Also the screen is not as, "white," as the replacement and original. Thanks for any help...

Mar 26, 2010for some reason, when ever i do a battery pull and when my storm starts back up, the screen clicks so easy, but as time goes on (min or so) it gets stiffer and you have to use more pressure.

Apr 15, 2010Basically i am getting the 'double click' thing on my storm2 once a day atleast. I upgraded the OS recently but its still doing it. Sometimes if i hit the screen hard it will start working which suspects me to beleive theres dirt under or around the screen itself?But if i remove the battery the screen then starts to work, which leads me to beleive its the software.
What is it? is it common? how can i fix it its driving me insane.

Jan 7, 2010I am getting multiple clicks with the END SEND buttons with the .428 OS.Is the buttons at the bottom SOFTWARE or HARDWARE related? Should I return the phone to Verizon? I really need a confirmation on the above since I am in the 30 days warranty.

Feb 23, 2010I noticed recently that my end key will click 5 times when i press it down, its the only part of the screen that does it, but i do notice that the bottom buttons will double click everynow and then and it pisses me off. but the end key does it 5 times. Anyone have a clue what it could be? i was happy with the phone at first but now im kind of mad that i got it, the one thing i like about the phone is he clicking screen, it makes it to where i dont press as many as i do with other touch screens.

Jan 4, 2010I just finally joined the bb scene on Dec 26, with my new Storm 2 9550.I thought this was maybe due to the technological advancement of the device, as all new things usually have bugs.Sometimes while I am texting, or if I have just sent a text, set it down, then received one, my storm will freeze.The screen basically lock, not allowing me to click it. When I try to click the unlock key, nothing happens, and nothing will work until I hold the unlock/power key to turn it off. Sometimes it is stubborn enough where it won't work until I take the battery out and put it back in.It's done this a few times, which probably isn't good since I've only had the phone for 10 days. Do you guys think there is probably something mechanically wrong, and I should go exchange the phone? Or is it probably just a bug with some software and I should just ride it out?
Edit: Also, my other concern about exchanging it is the fact that I don't think I'll be able to show the Verizon Rep what is happening, as it is a random occurrence.Is the exchange policy a no questions asked policy?

Feb 23, 2010battery life for the Storm 2 , in my opinion is OK running .320 and not to sound arrogant or jerky, cause Im a humble guy, but battery life on my Tank's Hybrid ACT 2 (.497) 95X0 hass been really great.
is battery life between the Storm 1 (newest build) and Storm 2 really that much different? Think about it.Well, I dont think that much.I think the same if not better especially with ACT 2.This certainly isnt an advertisement for my Hybrid so I apologize in advace -- please read on.
What we dont think about is this.The Storm 1 's click needed no energy, just the enrgy from our fingers , right? Well the Storm 2's click was revamped using piezo technology (genius!) to give us this hassle free click which is 10 times better to say the least. What WE dont think about is that this NEW technology in the Storm 2 is electronic and requires a Power source which is the battery. of course point being is that:
1.) we dont realize how many times we click the screen a day and
2.) how much battery energy is actually used to power the screen click.
The Storm 2 is ALMOST the same phone -- its the same CPU.we do have more built in memory and a newer screen (way better color saturation, the Storm 1 was a very cold color scheme, very blueish tint)So in turn, we must recognize the fact that we have the same if not better battery life with the same battery and MORE energy being used to power the phone (screen clicks)
Now I believe this supports my claim.I BELIEVE the "CLICK" is partly controlled by the OS's power scheme.I believe the OS talks to the battery and the phone to manage the power used to "click" this is why we ALL see an inconsistent screen click softer but yet more responsive or "smart" after a fresh charge and the later in the day, maybe a more lazy click still a "satisfactory" click, but yet and not to be ignored, a different click.Of course I will agree that different builds and/or .cods will control the click, but I believe it only controls the "default" click set forth buy that build number.ie. .320 vs .428 or .428 vs .464 or .464 vs .497
Just my 2 cents to throw in so when we all, including myself, complain about a slightly different screen click throughout the day and battery life that isnt where we want it to be.I always keep in mind "Hey RIM, not to shabby of a job keeping battery life similar to the Storm 1 considering we run more apps (due to more memory) and ALL of the thousands of screen clicks we make everyday"

Jan 7, 2010I just got my storm 2. Love it so far. Just a question about the screen. It feels very responsive and typing is a breeze, But it seems like i have to press a lot harder to get the send button to click. Anyone else experiencing this, or am i just being picky?

Apr 22, 2010I'm running the Storm2 on 580. For weeks I haven't had a single option, and all of a sudden multiple times in 2 days I have this issue:While my phone is in my pocket, I pull it out, and unlock the screen. The screen is hard, but not unclickable. So when I click on messages or anything else it opens it and closes it, because it double clicks. Usually the bottom keys click but don't function. I have to lock the screen and turn it back on after a few seconds or a minute later for it to function. The double clicking and it closes the app is really annoying. It only happens when it's in my pants.
I think what happens is that since the screen is TOWARDS my leg, and my leg may hit the bottom buttons, it presses it or something like that. And after a few times of that happening unexpectedly the screen does something. I don't know. Any ideas? Could this be an OS issue? I doubt it's a hardware since it ONLY happens with my jeans and in my pocket.

Apr 6, 2010IT Policy for "security" reasons. Kind of ticks me off since this is my own device, but using it so I don't have to carry 2 BB's. Encryption set to on, locked. No mass storage mode, locked.Anyway, can anyone tell me where on the device the stock "folder" icons are? I would like to replace them with some that are more elegant.And since no mass storage mode when i connect to computer, how do I move them from the SD card to device memory?

Jul 20, 2010Does anyone get annoyed with the clicking sound when typing?Personally, I don't mind the idea of having to push the screen in to type and select things. However, I'm not so happy with the sound that it makes when i am typing. (click click click click click click........)Its really very annoying when in a meeting or something and I want to respond to an email/bbm about the meeting and it makes the clicking noise. Somehow it seems louder than any of the other bb devices out there.
Personally, i'm really hoping that the Storm3 or even Storm4 has more of the iphone screen in which you just touch the screen to type, etc.

Mar 16, 2010This may have been answered before But i have searched and not found the answer I was looking for. Can anyone tell the point of having the edit profiles option on the Storm 2? Because it doesnt play what I select. Is there an easier way to get my phone to play the selected ringtones for the appropiate notifications other than going to EACH and Every contact and changing it? Hopefully ive explained this well enough to understand.

A lot of the times, when I make a call or receive a call after like 10 seconds or so, theres no sound and call fails...Is my phone refurbished or this something that happens commonly with the storm 2? Sometimes I receive calls and make calls just fine, but it does this pretty often.

Jun 10, 2010recently my alarm has been acting up. i just did a restore the other day to see if it would fix the problem and it happened again this morning. the alarm tune is set on the antelope. no matter what profile i am using ( vibrate, silent or loud) sometimes it plays this very soft 3 short tone tune. i went into the tune file to see what the name of it is...but there is no tune that sounds like this, trying to recreate this problem will just sound off the antelope tune, my phone is always plugged in when this happens. *also im running TELUS .320, before i was using Verizon .607 and i thought that was the reason*
