The default BB password is too difficult to type all the time.... PatternLock password was too obvious and the background wouldnt update (berryweather background) Storm slider was great just WAY TOO BUGGY! Any other options out there?

Title explains it all after mulitple battry pulls my lock button only locks the device untill I hit the unlock button. The screen to enter the password doesn't show up. it just says " screen is locked press power button to unlock". I need my device to have a password.
View 14 Replies View RelatedMy BB browser home page currently defaults to a T-Mobile web'n'walk page. no matter what I set in the options, it is overridden when the page loads. I don't actually use it as my browser, but I do have a couple of launchers that require the default browser and when launched, they also end up being overridden and defaulting to this annoying home page, making any launchers completely useless.

Is there any way to re-route the screen-lock function to another button or perhaps a screen icon?
I just finally joined the bb scene on Dec 26, with my new Storm 2 9550.I thought this was maybe due to the technological advancement of the device, as all new things usually have bugs.Sometimes while I am texting, or if I have just sent a text, set it down, then received one, my storm will freeze.The screen basically lock, not allowing me to click it. When I try to click the unlock key, nothing happens, and nothing will work until I hold the unlock/power key to turn it off. Sometimes it is stubborn enough where it won't work until I take the battery out and put it back in.It's done this a few times, which probably isn't good since I've only had the phone for 10 days. Do you guys think there is probably something mechanically wrong, and I should go exchange the phone? Or is it probably just a bug with some software and I should just ride it out?
Edit: Also, my other concern about exchanging it is the fact that I don't think I'll be able to show the Verizon Rep what is happening, as it is a random occurrence.Is the exchange policy a no questions asked policy?
Is there a auto screen lock for the storm2. If there's a download can I do it on the phone via browser.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI had my first storm replaced because the screen stopped clicking, and now I am having never ending problems with the screen lock. Ill be in the middle of the call and the screen will be locked but then suddenly it will unlock and ill hit a button and end the call, or flash, or mute. I have prematurely ended hundreds of calls now.
I got a new one, and it is having similar issues. I know that the face recognition works off of heat, so i don't know how the Texas weather is affecting it, but this is getting pretty ridiculous. I have been counting and I am up to 2 out of every 3 calls either get muted, flashed, or ended unintentionally.
I tried using storm lock, but it does not lock the end key of course, so i can still end the call, which I do often. Has any one had any problems with theirs? Any ideas how to fix?
I use the alarm clock function on my BB 9550 and have been noticing the alarm does not ring if the screen is locked (i.e., using the power button function on the top of the device). Specifically, there is still an alarm notification on the screen (to dismiss or snooze), but there is no sound. That's a problem. Seems to work fine if the screen is unlocked.
This just became a problem with the upgrade to O/S version 5.0.0.607. Before that I noticed that the alarm would only be a low hum if the screen was locked, but now there is nothing at all!
First off when I take my phone out of lock or wake up it from sleeping the icons are missing till i wipe my finger across the screen.. its weird to explain but its kinda like i have to swipe the whole screen for the icons to be visable the same thing happens when my phone goes to sleep and the keyboard is open.. any ideas?
and another thing is sometimes ill be writting a msg and my phone will make 3 beeping prompting type of noise any idea what this is?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI've noticed with the new S2 or 5.0 OS calendar, entries use the "default" calendar. Which is great, zero duplication, syncing is always accurate, etc, etc. But the "default" calendar does not have an associated email acct with it, so it doesn't allow you to "invite" anyone to the appointment. If you use one of your email accounts, you are then adding and additional calendar, then the games begin (problems). ??? Is there a way to continue using the default calendar and invite attendee's to meetings/appointments?

I am trying to get people to stop sending to it, but I still have it linked to my Ebay and thats why I want to keep it on the phone...so other than a total deletion of the address, what can I do? (Yes, in messaging service I have the Gmail chosen)

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe use a service at our office that I forwards our calls to our mobile phones. However, when the call is forwarded I need to press 1 to allow it to come through. It is annoying that I have to hit the icon at the bottom left to make the number pad come up... and I often miss the call because the screen will not come up fast enough to hit 1 to receive it. Is there a way to make the number pad come up (and stay up) by default when receiving a call?

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy BB Pearl 8100 is dying a slow death. The trackball is starting to lock up every few days. I'm seriously considering moving over to a Storm2. Now, I have a couple of challenges and hoping I can get some guidance.
I have AT&T as my carrier (the device is mine) as part of my corporate phone plan; (my choices are AT&T and Sprint). What I'd like to do is get my hands on a Storm2, unlock it and then move that over to my AT&T plan.
When unlocking the phone will I lose any of the features? Also, is there anything I should know do regarding device activation? Would I just use the same SIM card?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm running .428 and my storm and I know there are lots of threads on the button issue. Mine all stopped working Friday after a dip in the ocean. Next day the bottom 4 started working again but the power/lock still does not work. It clicks but nothing else. And the keyboard is so soft. Oh and about 5 auto shut offs. I have to battery pull just to start it again.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just got a replacement Storm 2 dated Mar 6, 2010. My old Storm worked pretty well but sometimes the bottom row buttons would stick, especially when using the Seidio extended battery with the plastic battery cover. I have a week or so to try both out before sending back the old one.
The new screen feels more... buttery. Its smooth. Buttery smooth. The old screen is clickier. The bottom row buttons on the new screen are a little sloppy compared to when you press the middle of the screen. Does anyone else notice this? I don't like that.But so far the new screen hasn't locked up on the bottom row as much, especially when trying to use it while the Storm is lying on a table.
For typing, the old screen seems just a bit faster, maybe just a bit less pressure required. New screen is a bit harder to type on but smoother.The old screen has a warmer white color than the old, but that is OK the old was fairly "blue".I don't know for sure yet which I like better! But will update here as I find more. If new screen prevents "hard button" syndrome than that's probably enough.
I tried searching but couldnt really find what I was looking for. Is there anyway to password protect your S2 only upon locking it? So in other words everytime I manually lock my phone, when I go to unlock it I would have to type in a password. I'm not really feeling the the whole password protect after 1,2,5,10,15,20,30, 1hour. I only want it to password protect when I lock the phone.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a firm-issued BlackBerry that frequently locks itself after long periods of inactivity. I also choose to manually lock the phone from time to time. When coming out of lock mode and needing to enter my password, when in portrait mode, I sometimes get the MultiTap keypad and sometimes get the the full keypad. There doesn't appear to be any consistency in which one the BlackBerry will choose to offer me.
If I have a choice, I would prefer to use the SureType keyboard or even the full keyboard every time if possible. Can anyone lend any insight as to how to set this default keyboard when coming out of lock mode?
I have two storm 2's and on one of them the lock button clicks real good. The other one is more mussy. Any ideas? Should I get the one replaced with a refurb? Other than that it works fine.

I'm at a loss other than the fact the sucker got wet about 10 days ago. I did the proper wet phone recovery procedure and even had it apart same day to make sure it wasn't moist in there. Worked fine till about an hour ago.

I'm afraid if the lock button on the Storm2 wears out, I won't be able to unlock it (with the curve I could use the keyboard * + green call button to unlock).Is there an application or similar that allows me to unlock the screen by an alternative method?
