BB Storm :: 2 9550 That Within The Last Few Days Began To Re-boot Itself At Various Times?
Dec 5, 2010
I have a Storm 2 9550 that within the last few days began to re-boot itself at various times. I go to use my phone and notice the red light is "on" and it is rebooting itself despite having a full battery.
My BB Pearl 8100 is dying a slow death. The trackball is starting to lock up every few days. I'm seriously considering moving over to a Storm2. Now, I have a couple of challenges and hoping I can get some guidance.
I have AT&T as my carrier (the device is mine) as part of my corporate phone plan; (my choices are AT&T and Sprint). What I'd like to do is get my hands on a Storm2, unlock it and then move that over to my AT&T plan.
When unlocking the phone will I lose any of the features? Also, is there anything I should know do regarding device activation? Would I just use the same SIM card?
Once BES was activated, my boot-up time increased tremendously. Anyone know what I can do to decrease the boot-up time once I do a quick-pull or battery pull?
So Im demonstrating how that the phone Z3 can handle water, fill a basin with water ensure that all covers are properly sealed.Next a friend shoots a video of the event for a minute, I then take the phone out wipe and show that its still working.after a while the phone screen runs haywire and i lose signal coverage.switched the phone off and it wont turn back on it just lights up shows the sony logo, vibrates three time and swicthes off.ive tried the power button and volume up story its not working.
My storm 9550 is currently running .320 which is not the newest release. Everytime I download the OS onto my computer (.517 and .607) I do the whole downloading process delete the vendor, go to application loader, it says new updates available for your phone, it does the whole downloading process but my phone still ends up with .320 --no changes. Am I missing a step, am I not supposed to delete the vendor.xml file or something.
I have Verizon 9550 Storm 2. Before the unlocking the 3G and WiFi both have worked fine ! After the unlocking the Internet on my phone did stop work ! The WiFi connection pass fine but when I start the browser and try to open some site there is appear the message:
I have a bold 9700 right now and my dad is looking for a phone and he wants a bold 9700. before i get him one im wondering if i should get a different phone and give him my bold. I love the bold but the couple things that have been really bothering me are the dropped calls and over crappy service.
Hows the 9550 on telus? and would u guys suggest switching to one? Hows the keyboard for someone thats used to a physical keyboard? the only two phones i have had are the tour and bold 9700 and i really like the keyboard, but im willing to get something thats not as good for a bigger screen. I just dont want anything thats glitchy. Im pretty picky about my electronics and especially for my phone i just want it to work.
So basically my real question is is it worth it to switch to the storm? and are there any issues with the phone that someone thats a bit finicky would be pissed off at? (im not obsessed about little issues but keyboard is a huge deal to me)
Edit* and is the storm 9520 out? and does it run on hspa bands? id like to stick to gsm and not switch back to cdma :/. and any other suggestions for phones if you dont think the s2 fits?
Edit 2* and whats all this about a 9550 gsm? is the 9550 a "world" phone? and if its gsm im assuming its the international gsm bands and i cant get gsm on telus?
After installing 10.586.29 from windows insider, my nokia lumia 1320 doesn't booting and just showing up "Nokia" on screen and flashing several times then shutting down and again same thing.
Anyone know how to move saved messages from the Storm to Storm 2?I recently dropped my Storm in the pool, got the new Storm 2 got all my contacts back but can't figure out how to transfer these messages.
I have just bought a Storm 2 9550 that is from Verizon USA. The device is GSM unlocked, and I am using it from Hungary on a local carrier. I am in the middle of a carrier change that has Blackberry services, however I currently have 3G web access on my actual carrier. However, the integrated browser that came with the phone, does not allow me to use the 3g network, only WIFI service. I cannot even set it to 3G on the browser options tab, as it only offers "hotspot browser".
Is there any way I can find a http browser that supports the 3g network, so I could surf the web on this carrier until I complete the carrier change? Is there any on Blackberry App world? I didnt manage to find one.
Also, I would like to have a POP3 client on my device that can communicate through 3G with a pop3 mail server, as the integrated email messaging software that Blackberry device software 5 offers is only capable of having a mail account through a BB service provider.I am very staisfied with the device itself, great for managing calls, and multimedia - did not face any crashes at all (maybe once when I wnated to take a picture and it frozen when the flash lit up).
Have the Storm 2 and have it set with a password lock. Since sometime in mid-April, I have intermittently had an issue with it locking me out and requesting "to unlock, enter ""blackberry"" to continue." I have entered the "blackberry" password but the phone does not respond to it. I have tried turning it off and also a battery pull.... only thing that clears it is hooking it to my laptop and opening the Blackberry software program. This is rather annoying and inconvenient.... don't want to carry around my laptop in case my phone doesn't work. I have not been successful in resolving this....
While I was typing a message the phone "crashed". I could only see the tiny "egg timer" spinning...So I removed the battery and left it that way for about 5 minutes. Then I put in the battery again and the phone started booting. After that my provider logo appeared and, as usual, I was asked to enter my pin. I tried and nothing happend. The screen was not reacting at all, I could only use the keys but not the touch-pad.Therefore I removed the battery again and after another 5 minutes I put it back in. And then the red ligth started blinking and the display only shows a battery which is crossed out in red...
When I try to turn it on a red light comes on for about 10 seconds then shuts off. A little square with a line goes around for about 5 seconds and disappears. Then this cycle starts again.
but I can access no functions, cannot even shut it off without battery pull, and while the desktop manager recognizes the phone model and PIN, it never finishes initializing. I am desperate for the data contained within the contact records in the address book (addresses, birthdays, anniversaries, grandchildren's favorite colors, etc), and the seriously dependent data in the Password Keeper app that came on the phone.
Because I presumed this unlocked Verizon phone (which I've been running on AT&T for 2+ years) to be, for most intents and purposes, dead to me, I've replaced it with a Torch 9860, and hope to to perform the phone-to-phone function, but I can't move forward from here. I am not technically knowledgeable - really, technologically challenged
While trying to update the software on my BB Storm 9550 through the desktop software on my pc, the process got stuck at "Loading module "net_rim_bluetooth.cod". I waited for hours until finally choosing to disconnect... My device tried to reboot and then ended on a white screen with the message "Reload Software:07I have gone through this 3 times now today, I tried a force detect process without the battery but it always gets stuck at the loading modules process. I know I need to get the OS loaded back in now because I think my phone is now wiped out, but I don't know what to do...
A few days ago I was running the VZW official .713 OS. Then, I think I installed the latest BBM. After about 12 hours of that, I started experiencing random crashes triggered by actions (not particular actions). I add a contact, it crashes. I boot back up and add again, it doesn't crash - something like that with various other actions like me locking the phone using the left lock button, or snapping a picture, etc.I didn't attribute this to BBM and so figured to hell with the official OS and installed a hybrid (Yes, I'm aware that it's not a supported OS bla bla, but it started with the official .713 so there is merit to this). And upgraded to the new BBM. Installed apps, etc. Battery was draining by 2-5% every 30-45 minutes. Crashes were happening and I wouldn't know till I had to use the phone again, at which point it starts the boot process.I uninstalled the latest BBM and downgraded to the previous stable 5.0.0.66 and it is still going on.
I'm running out of options here.I checked the event log for the time it crashed and encountered only one fatal error:Any help would be appreciated as I don't know what else to do except for installing the old BBM and no other applications. In which case, no point of the phone. I've been using the phone for the past 2 months with no problems..If someone wants me to email this to someone at RIM, that's fine too as I don't know how else to go to them.
I am debating as to whether I want to purchase a Storm2 9550 or a Torch 9850. My questions are "What OS is on the Storm 2 9550?" and "Can it be upgraded to OS7? I know the Torch 9850 has BB OS 7.
I bought a BlackBerry Storm2 9550, which locked to Verizon Wireless. I want to use this mobile in Sri Lanka (GSM 900/1800). So please tell me the way to unlock my phone.
When the battery is inserted the screen shows a battery with a red cross. It worked once and I monitored to see the charging work. Then soon after turning off the unit and restarting, it would no longer charge.
I bought a Blackberry Storm 2 9950 from Verizone in USA 16 months ago, and after two months that I went to live to Mexico. I got my BB unlocked and I was using Movistar services with out any issues until two months ago, that I started facing issues to get connected.I went to check this with Movistar carrier here in Mexico, but support guy told me that because it is a device from other company they can not help me with any configuration issues, or support for it. He suggested me to throw it to the garbage and buy another from its company.
I upgraded my software using the phone instead of my computer when I was notified an upgrade was available. Since the upgrade, my phone reboots 6 or more times a day. I complained to my service provider and they have replaced the phone - but really want to sell me another make and model. I transferred data from the old phone to my computer and back to my new phone - and the same rebooting issue keeps occuring on the new phone. Any way to correct the problem of rebooting? It occurs at the most inconvenient times and keeps me from using my phone as needed.
getting a Storm 2, to use as an MP3 player, portable web, etc. I currently have a Bold for work, but restrictions from work mean that I can't install apps, use the web, etc. I would want to use the Storm as a WiFi only device, obviously with no carrier based email, phone, etc.
I have a storm 9550 originally from the verizon network here in Canada now and on the Rogers network. This is my second storm upgraded from the pocket dialing Storm 9530!!Anyway a much better phone but one thing keeps **bleep** me off...Not all the time but far too often this phone only rings once and i can not get the call.upon second or third tries we connect with the patient caller and they tell me it would immediately go to voice mail.Running software version 5.0 bundle 1656 currently.
My BB began to feel overheated, turn it off and now it does not turn on, I remove then battery because it felt hot. I changed it by a new one. began to flash.Few seconds later. once again began to feel overheated and shut it down itself.
so maybe it's that I have the wrong password? But then when I click "forgot password" and type in my e-mail address it says "Blackberry App world is having trouble connecting to the blacberry app world server. Verify your network connections and try again. Error ID 30637" Consequently, I haven't updated in over a year.
