I recently tried to upgrade my Blackberry 8800 4.2 to 4.5. The upgrade was completed but the phone went off as soon as I finished, and would not come on. I took it to a phone shop and they were able to put it back on. BUT, it just goes off, reboots and on by itself intermittently, and this has gone on for three days now. What do I do to make my phone function properly?
View 1 RepliesI have an oldish 8800 unlocked, that was a used in Australia (Telstra). I have bought with me to Malawi, and put in an Airtel SIM and subscribed to BB here. Current device s/w is 4.2, and I am trying to upgrade to 4.5, however via the Web (BB site) I get "no updates available". Using a freshly downloaded BB Desktop Software, it tells me a 4.5 Bundle is available, but just after initiating, I get "There was an error updating your software. Please try again".

I got online the 8800 carbon arte, but when I got it in I realized it is a fake (a nice fake, but a fake).Now I'm not sure if I should keep it and sell my old 8800, or send back the 8800 carbon fake? I cant afford a new carbon as they are well over 1grand.
features on the fake seem to be all except no pc suite option (USB gives me com port, mass storage, webcam) and no touch option. Im also assuming that the screen isnt durable.Other than that, the firmware seems to be the same (from what I gathered online)What would you do? Keep the original 8800, or use the newer 8800 carbon fake?
Ma sister gave me her old 8800 she has stopped using for a long time! I inserted the battery and its asking for new password! I tried every password i can think of but it never accepts! it only says the password should at least have one letter,a digit and a special character.

At the "email setup" in setup wizard there is only a email account with enterprise server and there is no settings to change. My operator doesn't support the mail configuration automatically, so I have to put them by myself (POP, SMTP, etc).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a used 8800 (Cingular) ver 4.5. The phone was wiped and I was able to set my own password. But I'd rather not have it lock at all.The help file indicated that PASSWORD could be disabled, but that does not work for me. I'm looking at Options > Security Options > General Setting.There's a password ENABLED field, but I can't change it, there is a little teeny tiny red lock icon next to the field.
I changed the security timeout to 30, and that helps.
Can anyone tell me how to disable the password lock?
I have been using gmail for about 3 years, and I setup gmail to forward emails to my BB 8800, this has all been working fine for 2 years, in the last 3 or 4 weeks emails that I have been sending from my computer at home (using gmail ) have been sent to friends etc, and I also get a copy on my 8800
when somebody replies to my email, I see the message without any problems on my laptop when logged into my gmail account, but now when I look on my 8800, the message displays for 1 second and then disappears, if I press the BB button ( to the left of the trackball ) , and select from the menu "Get Plain Text" , BB displays the dialogue message "Receiving More" and the text comes back surely I should not have to do this when using a gmail account
only emails that I have kicked off using gmail are affected, all other emails that I receive from other people are fine ! NB I have plenty of "Free Space" 31559744 bytes
I have the latest software, I have security wiped the 8800 a number of times, I have removed the battery a number of times, all these things I have been told to do by my carrier "Orange UK" , all to no avail, so I have to resort to the internet, and boards like this

Iīm using the newest PC Suite under Win 7 32 bit, and a Nokia 8800.Up to now the WIn 7 BT driver was installed and worked for month.Since a couple of weeks I donīt get an automated sync. Sync starts, and ends with the error "check if device is connected".
The device IS connected, I can see my messages and calendar in PC Suite, PC Suite and the round connection symbol are green.Now I tried to install the latest Belkin BT Broadcom Widcomm driver (I used an older widcom last year under XP!).this one does not show up in the connection manager. There I only find the Microsoft.
I cannot imagine that my BB 8800 with the BB desktop 5.0.1. and the device frim ware 4.5.0.174 isn't able to sync the MS outlook 2007 categories with the BB canlendar. Where is the trick? I'm sure that there is a RIM solution.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a BB 8820 unlocked, it's made on Hungary and it shows on the screen a battery with a red line crossed, I know what the symbol means BUT the battery is OK, it's the right model C-X2 and I already tried it on a different phone and it's working fine. PLUS, the desktop manager cannot connect to the device,the application loader neater. I download the 4.2.2 device software and had the VENDOR file erased too, I start running the "loader" from C:Program FilesCommon FilesResearch In MotionAppLoader. and it loads the JVM and system software but when it is initializing the device I get the connection error and that's it. FROZEN AGAIN. The screen with the crossed battery is the only one I'm able to see.I try to replace the USB cable and the soft reset too with no results.What can I do, help me please!

I set up the mailbox and automatic retrieval but unfortunately the phone will not retrieve emails unless it is manually connected to mailbox and when it is it drops connection every 20-35 minutes. I have the mailbox update interval set to 6 hours but it won't retrieve them unless the connection to mailbox is active. Am I able to use this phone to get my email as on iPhone managing the connection itself?

How do I remove the IT policy from my 8820 to be able to use it as my personal bb? I read in another forum that you need OS 4.3 or greater to remove the IT policy. The OS on my 8820 is v4.2.2169 (Platform 2.4.0.67). Also read that you need desktop manager and some other stuff to backup and perform some other tasks, then install OS 4.3 and then remove the policy. Since this is now my personal bb I don't have any software or CD for it except the instrument itself. I am guessing I need to install some software on my pc, backup to be able to remove IT policy.
Where can I get the software for what I have to install it on a PC. This might also be a dumb question but what is the connection with a pc and a blackberry to install/ backup etc?If there is some intro doc that explains this it would be great.

My current situation:
I am on a family plan with a total of two lines. My line is not eligible until 7/23, so all I can get is "early upgrade pricing". My mom's line is currently eligible for "full upgrade pricing". I am planning on using my mom's upgrade to get an iPhone 4. I want to preorder the phone from Apple.com on the 15th, and hopefully receive it the afternoon of the 24th. From my understanding, the microSIM that ships with the phone will be programmed for the line whose upgrade was used. However, the iPhone Upgrade Guide makes it sound like I can call AT&T once I receive the phone (and before I activate it), and have AT&T switch the microSIM from my mom's line to mine. Is this possible?

I have an e72 running 021.024 and the latest firmware according to the nokia site is 031.23 I can't upgrade to this. Previously, I did a check on nokia to see whether I could upgrade using my product number from under the battery and it use to tell me that the latest for my phone is 021.024 even though on the other page it use to say 031.23 is the latest.
Now however when I put my product code in to it it tells me the the latest for my phone is 031.23 so it seems my phone can now upgrade to this firmware. But when I try to update from my phone it tells me no updates are available. This is using the *#000# method and PC. What can I do?
My trusty N82 is getting a bit battered so I'm looking to replace it & thinking about the X6. I love the camera on my N82 so I'm hoping the X6 will be the same, hoping the screen might be good for viewing photos, like my maps so interested in the free sat nav, not too bothered about the music side if things as I have an ipod, but you never know I could be persuaded. Just wondering what people think because all I see are bad reviews. Failing that I'll get another N82 off ebay.

I want to upgrade to something above 4.0. now I know in 4.0 or newer you can turn off cellular data but does that do the same thing as the profile. I have on my phone that disables the data? Also is there a way to upgrade to 4.0 or 4.10 so I can jailbreak again?

So, I'm trying to find out if there is anyway to restore the iphone to 3.1.2, without losing the unlock. His SHSH are saved on cydia.I am with AT&T so when I upgraded to 3.1.3, and downgraded to 3.1.2 I didn't need an unlock. So I think the process would be different, right?Or is it as easy as doing a shift+restore through iTunes with the modded Hosts file? Or will that mess with any of the unlock?
