In the market for getting a blackberry bold 9700, but i dont like the 5.0 OS, as my work web exchange website does not work on it and i am not a fan of the sms/bbm messaging page So.is it possible to get the 9700 and downgrade its OS to the 4.6 on the 9000?and how can it be done?
View 8 Repliesi've had my 9700 for a few days now, but the screen continues to amaze me. it's really down to the super high pixel density - but everything just looks amazing on it!!! i converted a few dvd's to h.264 format to watch on it, and even these regular dvd's look like hd on this little thing!!! i'm just amazed... photos from website look so vivid! and i've had iphones since 07 (a 2g, then a 3gs), and nexus one for a couple weeks (returned it - too many issues). i will say the 9700 screen, despite being small, still looks better than the famed oled nexus screen... if a bold style screen gets released by rim in oled/amoled version... watch out!!! now, if only there was a way to get high quality Internet vids to show up on it (rather than the horrendously jaggedy low res versions...)

Typing in the full web address does not help with these web sites. If there is some way to override this selection of the mobile version

View 9 Replies View RelatedI purchased BOLD 9700 in last week of April 2010 & was able to successfully configure my work email (Exchange 2007 through OWA). However the same worked for about 3 weeks and after that suddenly it got disconnected. I checked with my company's mail admins and as per them they have not done any changes or any upgrades etc to mail system.
Now whenever I try to configure the mail, I get following error:Earlier too, I had used the same settings, and it worked correctly. Now this is giving error. I tried to change the web url to https:// to but no success.Can you provide me suitable resolution, if possible?

So out of the blue my Nexus 5 has decided to just hang at 0% when fetching attachments in any email on my work account which is an exchange server. I can open files in any other email (Gmail accounts, Hotmail, yahoo) but not via my work acct? Have tried rebooting the phone with no luck.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have hunted around for this answer but haven't found it.I was so excited to read about BES Express as I thought it would finally allow full sync between my exchange server and my Bold 9700.However... my server is hosted (I am a one man band!). Will BESX be able to be integrated on to a hosted exchange server? Or will it be solely and only for people with their own exchange server? Initially I thought it was just going to be software to install onto my phone but I now think it will need to be installed server side. Also, will it possibly be available do you think as a fully hosted solution, in the same way as some providers offer hosted a BES and Exchange solution? i.e. a hosted BESX and Exchange solution? I'd be really interested to know your thoughts. I was so excited and now it seems that my excitement was misplaced!

I have iphone with 5.1 and latest version of itunes and use a gmail account. I was using gmail directly to sync mail and calendar but this didn't (or at least I could find a way to) sync my gmail contacts to my phone contacts so i decided to use Exchange. I deleted my gmail account from my phone and added the Exchange account, following all the instructions on many websites like this one [url]. I selected 'ON' for mail, contacts and calendars. When I refresh contacts and calendar on iphone nothing happens. When I go in mail and refresh that it comes up with 'Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server failed.'. I deleted the account and reset up in case i messed anything up but it's still not working.

Since upgrading, CorporateSync can no longer communicate with our MS Exchange email server at work. I am in I.T., and spent the moring with two co-workers troubleshooting this. We moved the phone into a test area with no policies, then turned on and off each policy, testing connectivity results for each one.The only policy preventing the phone from connecting to the server was, "Password Required". The phone can connect to the server only if a password is not required.

I know my Exchange email address (it's just user@exchange.company.com versus my normal @company.com email address) but I have a couple questions:Does Exchange allow IT depts. to lock down Exchange to approved decives/device IDs?We have to change passwords every month or so, but I never have to do anything on my Blackberry to keep getting email pushed - how does Echange handle that? i am currently at outside of my country and i was using BBM and other softwares over wifi without any problems and i upgraded my OS to latest (593) and than i can access only internet browsing. BBM - facebook - twitter doesnt connects to the internet.
whats wrong with it? my data services are only wifi because of high charges of gprs while i am outside of my country and it has no problem before upgrading.
Just got my new bold 9700 today and im loving it. only one problem, i cant get my email to work... iv set it up for my xxxx@hotmail.com email address and it works perfect, but i cant get it to work for my myname@mycompanydomain.co.uk email address which is ideally what i need it for (work on the move) I own the domain name, its not a generic one. How do I set this up?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy bold 9700 stopped working for no reason! The keypad stoped working all of a sudden. I cannot type in my pin, the trackpad doesn't function, the unclock button on top doesn't work and after a few seconds the screen goes black and the only way to bring the light back on is to either connect it to my laptop via USB which will show the clock and once the USB is removed I get the home screen but cannot do anything there again; or i have to remove the battery and reboot but again I would get the black acreen and the cycle would continue.
My email, text messages, missed calls, facebook notifications and all come thru alright and the red light flashes to indicate this and I get the little sign on top of home screen but cannot access anything as the keypad and the trackpad are both completely non-responsive.
I called my mobile from a landline but again i cannot accept the call as pressing the green call button or any other key for that matter doesn't work. I could access the device via the BB desktop software and have backedup and updated the firmware (i was using the most uptodate version untile now without any problems) . The phone has not gotten wet and hasn't been in any damp environment. I haven't got any dodgy apps or security issues for instance as aresult of opening sapm etc.
I have a Blackberry Bold 9700, and everytime i connect it with my laptop, it wud only 'charge' the battery. The laptop will not detect it at all. Not even device manager. I checked its 'settings>memory>mass storage support' and all of those but it won't work. Not even the Blackberry Desktop Software would detect it. You plug in and all it would do is charge. It has a memory card in it too.
I have tried restarting the phone, wiping the handheld, restarting system, changing the entire laptop. But still it work at all. I have also used a different USB cable (just in case) but nothing yet.
I was able to connect it with bluetooth but whats with the USB? My brother's iPhone works fine with the laptop and performs all functions properly. Just the blackberry Bold 9700 is screwing up somewhere.

I recently purchase my phone and my facebook was always working until two days ago I tried commenting on a post and automatically I was logged out and an error message stating "signed in session expire please sign in to the facebook application 2102" what is the problem or what should I do? I'm also surrounded by wifi so I always have internet access... However I was wondering if the GPS program on the Blackberry will work w/o a data plan?
I'm coming from an E71 and the GPS always worked w/o data. It was a tad slower for the satellites to lock onto but it still worked. Will the GPS on the BB 9700 work in a similar fashion w/o a data plan?

When I reply to an email, is there any way of setting so that the icon next to message in the inbox shows that I have replied to a message? i.e. a little arrow to show the message has been replied to. I am finding it difficult to see what I have replied to an what I have not...Also, is there no "sent" box as such?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSince Monday, I have been experiencing problems with my data coverage at work. Some of my BBM's to friends are delayed, I can't get a net connection to use any apps (Facebook, Twitter, Shazam, App World) etc. My 'phone' signal as it were is fine. I receive texts and calls on time no problem.
Does anyone know what could be causing this, and how to fix it? It was fine up until Monday and I havent changed any settings or changed OS's. My data connection is fine everywhere else.I have also noticed, possibly becuase my phone is trying to receive a data signal that my battery is being drained by about 10% an hour.
