Browser icon missing from my 8100. My dektop manager is up to date (v5.0.1) and the Browser application has a check mark next to it but it's grayed out and I cannot get it to install on my devise. E-mail me if you'd like a screen shot.

The reply from support is simply update software, I can't see why I have to do all this, as apart from anything else I don't currently have a phone line for internet due to illegal BT sales activity! It is also suggested that I send phone off in a jiffy bag to be repaired if unsuccessful, and what do I do for a phone in the mean time?? Not only that they suggest that it will cost me if it is not a fault they cover.

View 9 Replies View RelatedEverything else seems to be backing up just fine, but I consistently get a message saying that not all the files were backed up. When I click on the details, it shows that the browser cache was not backed up. I'm using a Bold 9000 with BB 4.6.0.304.
Organizer sync is finally working now that I switched to the single image 32-bit Outlook 2010 instead of click-to-run. So, the desktop software shows my last sync date, but still keeps coming up saying I have never backed up the device. How do I get the browser cache to back up so that the software stops trying to do a full backup each and every time I go to sync my organizer data? This is quite annoying...
Is there any way to change the web browser to the desktop version permanently, instead of switching to it every time you go into the browser .

It's a problem if my PC is not connected to INTERNET, since I can't stop it clicking on "Cancel" and the "BlackBerry® Desktop Manager" become hanged. I just got a N1520 last week, but it will not load up desktop version on IE on many sites even thought I have it set in the settings to do so.
What I do not understand is my N920 with a smaller display, and not really the hardware or storage of the N1520 always loads the desktop version every time.
Is there anyone else who prefers some sites in full desktop view ie. ESPN? The stock browser User Agent is still accessible through about:debug but most sites are still redirected to a mobile version even when "Desktop" is selected. my favorite browser wont deliver a non-mobile view unless you select the UA as I-Pad. That can't be good. Anyway....all was well on my OG Droid and now I'm about to give up on this dilemma and just install DolphinHD or something.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got a clean (wiped to factory reset) BB8800, with a first time installation of BB Desktop Manager on a new PC. The BBDM is 5.0.1.16. Everything is uncluttered with previous detritus.
However, when I connect the BB to the Desktop Manager, it asks me to update the Application Loader. I follow the instructions:
OK to upgrade
Disconnect BB
Click OK to close BBDM
Closes Desktop Manager,
Downloads 16Mb file
Goes to MS Installer
Verifies the files
Installs the files
It reopens the Desktop Manager
Then lo and behold, it asks me to UPDATE THE APPLICATION LOADER!!!
I'm on Application Loader 5.0.1.52. Is there any chance of downloading the newer Application Loader directly because everytime I go through the loop, it's downloading the installer files, and I can't find it in the cache.

80-90% of the time when I am using the Desktop Manager software, I use it to make an internet connection. When I connect my phone to the pc, the software searches for application updates with a window that pops up. Since I do not have an internet connection yet, this is quite pointless. There is a cancel button, but even when pressed it still will take upwords of 30sec-1min before the window goes away, and I can make my internet connection. Is there some way to make the software not search for updates? I am using version 5.0.1 on both winXP pro, and win7 pro.

I tried accessing the the BlackBerry Device Manager and it says 'The application has failed to start because XmlLite.dll was not found. Re-Installing the application may fix this problem.' - Of which I have done twice already. Is there a problem with this version of Desktop manager or any resolutions to fix this? I will touch a button on the screen and nothing will happen for maybe ten seconds, and then it will do the task. Then after this goes on for a few minutes without it getting better, a window will pop up on the screen saying:

This not only happens when browsing, but also when working in some apps. In that case, the above screen will mention the app, not the browser. At this point, sometimes I can't even turn off the Xoom. If I just let it sit, it will "clear" itself and start working again. For the record, I haven't added any apps in the past week and the AVG virus program says all is well.
Desktop Software V6 application loader for new software for Bold 9000 won't allow the "apply" button to be clicked. Says "exceeded available storage" (124.5 mb), which is unchaged even after I deleted several large apps from the BB and rebooted. How do I get the application loader to work?
View 6 Replies View Relatedwe are living in the times when internet is in our pockets. yet we have a crippled web browsing experience. without full flash support, we are unable to do most of the work, communication, information gathering, nor enjoying entertainment sites.in the modern days of internet where speed is the most important issue, website developers just can't deal with mobile versions of websites. not even the biggest sites, like cnn have a capable and usable mobile site.
yet, our mobile phones, such as nokia 5800 (and also the rest of the communicator-like phones) with a serious browsing capability is discriminated because the websites recognize them as "mobile" phones. most of the time you're not even able to browse the "normal" website and get the same experience to move around and even see the same information on your mobile phone.
i'm also experiencing browser application issues. freezes, hungs, because the site cannot coop with the disabled flash light. it starts to load the data, you able to see the flash box and then the browser just stops working. after a long time of exercise on different sites, such as Internet i'm convinced that flash 10 even bring our browser to its knees. the new flash 10 videos totally killing the browser on my nokia phone. and this is not firmware, not memory nor website related problems. it's incompatibility where the site and the browser just unable to coop.time to fix and update browsers in nokia smart phones including 5800!
get rid of discriminating our mobile devices as a"crippled" internet browser and give us the full web-experience.i was a faithfull nokia owner in the past 10 years (!!!!). i spent a lot of money on my phones. i always bought them even with limited information on the capabilities because i was trustful about the quality and feature-rich products. however if this issue will not be fixed on this particular phone because of whatever reason, be it as technical issue (the phone is not prepared for such internet experience), or be it as a way of lacking in development (never ment to handle such internet experience at all) then i have to leave nokia for good.
this is not "silly warning" or an angry and frustrating finger pointing. it just the fact that if nokia forcing me to swap phone, then i cannot trust a company with such business decisions to limit the timespan of their phone in such a way, that would generate more money for them. if this is not the case and we able to finally use our phone as it should work since the beginning then we will be the happiest buyers and supporters on earth.
i'm also trying to send this to the customer support in the good hope that finally we will see some advancement on this topic. i think we, the users, were quiet patient up until now (a year or so passed and still no sollution on this).

I've unistalled Destop Manager, reverted back to 5.0.0 and I still have the same issue. This was and is currently setup with my Outlook 2003 (SP3) exchange server to forward my work emails, and it worked up until I updated to 5.0.1 last week.
I like using the stock android browser however didn't like the fact that it defaulted to "mobile" mode when viewing certain pages.

If I disconnect "contacts" I can sync calendar items, tasks and notes.Any suggestions for what to do?
