Since this evening about 20 people have tried to add me to bbm. When I look at their details it's all in Arabic, it's really annoying! Does anyone know how to stop these? I've taken down their bbm pins and to be honest I'm tempted to put them on a site so they can be harassed as much as I am being. I just want them to go away.
View 2 RepliesI'm from South Africa and have a Blackberry 8520, carrier/network provider is Vodacom. Up until last week I've had absolutely no problems with the device. I updated my BBM to 6.0.0.129 (if I'm correct) when the update became available on App World and all was great, no problems at all in my 9 months or so of owning the device to be honest. However I soon realized that my statuses were not updating when I was with a few of my friends. I then pulled the battery, and nothing, went a step further and pulled the bat, SIM and memory card, left it for about 5 minutes (usually worked when the networks or the devices I've owned used to give problems) and still nothing, but I found that when I connected to my wifi at home it updated my statues. Though it soon became few and far between and altogether stopped updating even when I was connected to the wifi. A lot of my friends have had problems with their BB's going mad, losing contacts and BBM, devices needing to be replaced etc etc, but I finally built up the courage to try a few new things after a few days of the annoying problem (seeing that my ideas always seemed to work on previous devices I've owned, not strictly Blackberry though, this is my 1st Blackberry). I found the link to BBM5 (via the Blackberry site) on the net, downloaded it and decided to go back to App World and get BBM 6 thinking it might work. WRONG! App World showed that I still had BBM 6, though it showed as uninstalled, and I couldn't get a download option, unfortunately you can't downgrade BBM using App World (why????). So today I hooked up the phone to my PC, using the desktop software I removed App World and finished the process, when my phone finally rebooted I found that my BBM was gone too. So I followed the link through the App World icon and got App World back, after which I found App World was picking up BBM (V6) as installed anyway, even though BBM was gone from my phone. Following the "Update BBM" link that was now on my phone, I got back my BBM (nice intro interface by the way, set display name, restore contact list etc etc, looked good) and restored the conact list, and STILL MY STATUES REFUSES TO UPDATE!! Messages are going through and my display pics show up, however I also found that not all of my contacts pics are showing up at the moment (I did all the PC work and downloading like 40-50 minutes ago), maybe they need to update it or I need to reboot again so that it sync's, but most importantly my statues still don't update, it shows up on my side, the statues messages and busy/available icons show up on my phone, but not to any of my contacts. I'm unsure if my BBM is even linked to my App World anymore, and I refuse to try anymore stunts incase I lose my BBM contacts or BBM and App World completely. I have around 65 contacts, so it can't be the "100+ contacts" stuff I've read up about on the multitude of smartphone/Blackberry forums I've ravaged, even less so 'cause I have BBM6, not 5.

I called Bell and they had me wipe my phone and that didn't do anything, so I upgraded the software which also did nothing.

This morning I woke up and it was doing the same thing. I checked that my connections were turned on. I shut them off and turned them back on and I also did a battery pull twice. The services statuses all say not connected and the network is on 1xev with all the bars there. The mobile network box is checked off with a green verizon wirless listed next to it.

The update was a success, however, now whenever he wants to type in his native Arabic it types from left to right not from right to left. The Arabic font shows correctly so it is supported but it seems there is this typing direction issue. Both of us live in Dubal and use Etisalat as our provider.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was working a festival as Security/Staff yesterday and I dropped my phone a few times, I got bored sitting around so I downloaded an app called Erie PA Scanner, it worked okay for awhile, then I went to dial somebody and it kept pressing 3 down at a time, wouldnt let me erase, and it was a big problem. Ive had this problem before too, I was just able to delete the app... then it went back to normal, but now I cant even enter my password properly to gain access to my phone . What should I do here ? View 2 Replies View RelatedFor about the past two-three weeks, my Curve 8530 has started randomly rebooting - during calls, not during calls - I have not identified a pattern about when. When it comes back up 5-10 minutes later, the battery was always completely drained. I ordered a new battery and fully charged it. Day one with the new battery was uneventful - no random reboots, no loss of all battery charge after one 15 minute phone call, although the battery was low by the end of the day.
Today is day two with the new battery and I had another random reboot, however, this time at least my battery wasn't drained when it came back up. What causes these random reboots? Is there any way to get them to stop?
I am with Verizon and already did the *228 programming update before the new battery.
My Curve 8300 Randomly does NOT Ring when people call me.. or sometimes will not receive texts untill I make a call or something and when I hang up the inbox will have like 10 new messages that it I guess forgot to download untill I made a call.The big thing is though the ringing,, it will randomly not even ring when someone calls me.

It has reboot twice randomly I am I am very confused as to why it does that and when I rebooted it it started up normal but when I checked it again it rebooted on its own.

View 5 Replies View Relatedbought a nokia 5800 from hong kong with preinstalled chinese and english language, but my bro recently purchased a nokia 5530 from the same place, and it also has the same language packs preinstalled. however, the 5530 can view the arabic font (but not write in arabic) as in if he gets a txt messeage in arabic, but my 5800 cant? anyone knows how i cud install the arabic language pack in my 5800. i know they are already preinstalled by nokia, but since stores can do it, then there must be a way to do it!

I want to use my arabic qwerty keyboard.
Bought a Nokia N97 Mini Gold Edition yesterday. There is no user guide in Arabic in the box. Come on seriously guys. You are selling a product in the middle east and the least you can do is provide an arabic guide along with it. Called up Nokia care, they ask you to call Axiom, call Axiom and they ask you to call Nokia. Gave up the hope. Tried to get a user guide from the Nokia support website. Go to http://www.nokia.ae/support-en/support-en/n97-mini/guides and select Arabic and the page comes back with an HTTP 404 Not Found.
Imagine buying a phone worth 2500 AED and you don't have a user guide to go with that. Imagine calling up Axiom and Nokia care line just to hear that there is no guide provided in Arabic with the phone. Imagine you feel like an idiot buying something that does not make you happy. Now imagine if that someone were to be you.
I have recently purchased Nokia Lumia with Windows mobile 7 and it's installed with English language. I'm wondering if there's somehow or somewhere I can download an Arabic language package to install in my regional settings. I don't want to have an Arabic interface, I just want to be able to read Arabic mails or SMS.
