Aug 16, 2011My blackberry messenger has been working fine since I bought my blackberry. However, when i went to upgrade it today, it upgraded and then when I clicked on the icon it said uncaught exception, so I unistalled then deleted the app. Then I reinstalled it. It is showing on application management, and it is reinstalled, however I can't seem to find the app! What can I do to get it back?

Blackberry Messenger 5.0.1.38 appears.
My mobile is BB 9700 v5.0.0.351
Question 1.) Is that the reason why the icon disappeared (compatibility issue)? I have read issues on forums similiar to mine but it is not successful. I downloaded the BBM again and again; reboot the phone; but still it is not showing. I read something about BB device software version 6.0 (only one showi on the website).
I am downloading it now,
(Question 2.) Will that help?
(Question 3.) if YES, How will i do it? Procedures pls..
(Question 4.) Are (BBM version, BB9700 version, BB Device Software) compatible?

Mar 23, 2010This is the third time it has happened, and ive only had this phone for 3 weeks. When i receive messages from BBM an icon comes to the homescreen to alert me. Okay, now when ive checked all, the icon still remains despite me closing all of the messages and all. why is it doing this??

Jan 1, 2012I have a Curve 9300 and recently upgraded to version 3.1.0.58 app world then after a few days the icon disappeared. I tried to download from the blackberry website but I kept having a message that too many tabs were open (there wasnt) and that the browser needed cleaning (or words to that effect...I think!). I have since received an email from blackberry stating that there was an error with that version and to download version 3.1.0.56 - I cannot download that either. I have tried by connecting to my laptop and downloading from the blackberry site, it states that I cannot download from there and to use the mobile web. I still cannot download from there either. I do have updated software on my curve as it crashed about 3 months ago when removing an app.

Aug 31, 2010Ok, my SMS icon has disappeared for no particular reason. Nothing I've seen in other threads is helping. I have an 8330 from NTelos. I also keep getting the "nullpointer" exception after battery pulls.
-It is NOT hidden
-It is NOT combined
-battery pull does nothing
-the software is updated
-'restore theme defaults' did not fix it
-changing from 3rd party theme to stock theme did not fix it
-re-registering with the network did not fix it
-uninstalling/reinstalling BBM does not help
anything else i can reasonably try before i throw it out the window?

My problem is that I can't find the FB icon anywhere. I've googled this and tried all the solutions (restart phone, remove battery, change theme, show all applications) but to no avail. Originally I moved everything onto my new phone by using desktop manager but there seemed to be a problem with constant rebooting because it didnt like some of the third party apps. I restored the phone to the original settings but although I have Appworld and Bridge in my list of applications there is no icon for them - i have checked by Show All and they are not there. Both showed as icons on my 8520 and worked fine (I have a playbook too which is why I need the Bridge).

Sep 30, 2011I have a Curve 8530. Yesterday, I lost my SMS icon, was able to send text messages, not able to receive them. I cannot do either now and the icon is still missing. I have tried taking out the battery and restarting. I have tried hooking it up to my computer and deleting & re-installing all apps - as the Telus guy had said to do. I still cannot send SMS. It shouldn't have magically disappeared like that.
