For a couple days now an icon that is a white envelope with a blackberry symbol in the middle and a white and red exclamation point and been on my home screen. i am not able to open the icon
View 3 RepliesI recently performed a battery pull to re-establish connection with the local EDGE network, and as expected, all the emails that I received while not in contact with EDGE came flooding in. What also appeared was an icon I've never seen before, an orange envelope with a sort or ribbon encircling it, and it only appears in front of the "Email Messages" icon, not the "Messages" or "SMS and MMS" icons, and is not accompanied by the usual tiny envelope icon with the number next to it that appears on the Home Screen whenever I have new messages. I've emptied out the Email folder, but it's still there.

Yesterday I've noticed one strange icon on my home/start screen that wasn't there before. It's right next to my alarm icon and it looks like space which have up arrow above it. (just like combined space and shift symbols on keypad) What does it stand for? Should it be there, and how to turn that off?

When i press it it asks whether to use the main iphone speakers or the ear piece used when taking a call. What is this and how do i get rid? It is stopping some apps from outputting sound.

Anyone ever seen this or know what it is?I'm also wondering if this has anything to do with the sound not working either. I have the profile set to normal, and all calls set to sound and yet when any calls come in, there is no sound at all. It's an AT&T phone and their logo is right in the middle of it. I contacted them first and their tech support is stumped as well and suggested that I come here but I can find nothing on this site either. Nothing in any video I've seen or in the manual. These are not system sounds or calendar alerts, they sound a little bit like feedback or R2D2 sounds. They come and go but sometimes they are totally annoying. I have asked the people I'm talking to whether or not they can hear the sounds, and they have reported that they can not. I called Verizon and they said they had never heard of this problem before.Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything that can be done about it?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a habit of saving all my sms text messages, and that was exactly what I was doing on my BB since June, 2011, from day one of using the phone.
However it seems that any sms beyond a month old automatically turns blank and becomes a green icon. Am lost since a lot of personal smses have vanished, including Flight tkt details - a day before my flight too..
lately the smses have turned green just 3 weeks out.... am desperate... since I also get a Application Memory full message.. inspite of saving all pics and music files on a 4GB memory card.
I would have to switch to my previous Samsung phone otherwise, even though it lacks a lot of features like my current BB..
I take a daily backup thru BB Protect, but it doesnt makes things better.
There has been a lot written about "choppy playback" of iPhone video once it's trasferred to another device.It seems to me that the problem is in the frame rate used in the original video. In Quicktime, I'm seeing an actual frame rate on playback of something like 18 FPS, when the file is stamped with 30 FPS. When will this issue be resolved by Apple?And for now, what is the best work around? I've already begun experimenting with different settings during export from Quicktime.Choosing iPhone as a setting creates a .m4v file, but the image size is greatly reduced, and the conversion is very time consuming.Howeber the frame rate issue seems to be resolved--no more choppy playback and the new file is playing back at a true 30 FPS (or maybe it's 29.97 but that's another topic).
It's been said before but I'll say it again: it's beyond belief that Apple can release hardware and software Even for the most novice user, this is totally unacceptable.

Lastnight she saw that there was an active session from Great Britian - I did a reverse DNS and the IP belongs to RIM - rdns.blackberry.net.I understand that internet on blackberry is via BIS, therefore all routed traffic will go through BIS from her phone regardless of Carrier. Its just never shown it from that location before, Anyone aware of any BIS routers/proxies that exist in the UK ?

I use Sprint and everytime I miss a call the Messages icon appears and does not disappear until I open the messages folder and open the missed call message. This is incredibly annoying for me, as I usually just press the send key and see what calls I have missed. Doing this does not clear the messages icon or notification.
I really dont need missed calls sent to Messages, the only reason I ever use the Messages folder is to clear the icon from my screen.Can anyone help me either disable this icon or alter what is sent to Messages?

Sometimes when i answer an incoming call, and i say "hello there", the caller only hears " here", its like there is a 2second gap, but when the 2seconds have passed then evrything is normal again. 2.) This consirnes me: When i unlock the phone (the phone is active), and if i put my ear on the keyboard (near the center of the keyboard) i hear a silent, it sounds like the processor.It is wery silent and you have to listen very good to hear it. A bit of that noise i can alsow hear on the speaker when making phonecalls, and thats what bothers me.Now i would like to know if anybody else alsow hears the "piiiiiii" nokise, because if that is not normal i can still take the phone back to the seller! When any icon is pressed - whether it's an icon for an app, the battery symbol, the slide unlock, etc... a border appears around the icon when pressed and icons will not open unless double tapped. The phone is also running unusually sluggish.

When I have my phone plugged into an audio jack cable and play music through an amplifier everything is fine until the music stops
playing; either because the album is over or the playlist is over and then I get a thumping electronic noise. It comes in spaces like dut dut dut dut dut dut.
It happens a few seconds after the phone has been inactive and the phone has gone standby, it stops when I unlock the screen or just activate the phone. Then If I wait until the phone goes inactive again I get the same noise.
So I've got a galaxy s6 active and every time I type be it a text or browser or whatever, randomly in the auto fill suggestions a hot mail account will pop up. Sometimes it's kind of inappropriate like some kind of dirty email or something. I've never seen these before and I don't look at anything bad on my phone.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOK, looked at every app , every notification, every sound on the device and cannot find this. My phone makes two strange sounds. Sometimes once a day, sometimes twice in 5 minutes. No rhyme or reason. And after the sound, I check everything from messages, to voicemail, to app updates, to Ebay to - you name it, and nothing new.One sound sounds like :di-di di dih-goosz goosz goosz with the "goosz's" getting lower in volume and sounding gritty.
The other sound is similar, but different.Any ideas at all? I know if I go to the Apple store it will never happen when I am there.
My iPhone keeps making the strangest sound... it's completely random, it's not tied to any notification that I can find (and I've been searching...). It is similar to the "Calypso" tone that's built in, but deeper, minor, a bit resonant, more "crap, something's wrong with your phone" sounding. It's an ascending minor third, but not exactly. It happens a few times a day. No pattern to the times. For example, today, it happened around 11:55AM, then around 1:10PM. No emails or texts or notifications happened at those times. Like I said, I've combed through all the notifications and sounds and apps and still haven't found it. I have no way to record it because it happens so randomly.

Along the top 'status bar' of my Desire Z's screen I've become used to seeing strange symbols appear and disappear. Some are quite obvious - signal strength, battery level, 3G etc but most are very unintuitive and quite difficult to figure out. One that appears regularly is the capital letter 'H'. Here in the UK, a capital 'H' normally means that you're in the vicinity of a hospital but I don't think it can mean that. Another one I often see is a musical note with a strikeout line through it.
It took me ages to figure out that this meant I had my sound profile set to Silent. At the LHS of the status bar I've just acquired two new symbols that I've never seen before. They look like a downward facing arrow with an underscore beneath them. The first one appeared yesterday and the second one about an hour later. Nothing seems to get rid of them - not even switching the phone off, then on again. Is there anywhere where I can find out what some of these cryptic symbols mean?
