BB Curve :: Disable Gmail Sync Except Birthday Notification
Jun 24, 2012i like to add the birthdays to my contact list, and even though I've unchecked the box for syncing the calendar, bdays still show up when i add a new contact.

Jul 8, 2010I've set my gmail account as the default mail-account on my x10 mini pro, but the phone doesn't seem to reteive the mails automatically. I thought that when I set the sync-schedule to once an hour, then the phone would check my gmailaccount for new mails and notify me. I've tested this and the only time I get a notification is when I manually tell the phones mail-client to sync. Am I just a stupid user that donät know how to work the phone, or do I have to set up a sync-schedule for gmail?

Mar 10, 2012I upgraded to an N8 recently and manually inserted all my contacts including birthdays. Afterwards, I noticed that there has been some discussion (since 2010) around the issue that notifications in respect of birthdays is not possible from the contact list on this handset (that is without paying and installing a third party app to solve the problem.) My question is then: Why does the contact list even allow for input regarding birthdays? Really what is the purpose of this? Does anybody use this in some way? I do not use the phone's calender and it will be a tiresome exersise to update the odd 232 birthdays manually from my contact list to the calander, to get notifications.

Oct 9, 2011I'm a new Blackberry user and i recently bought Curve 9360 (OS 7).
I have couple of email accounts like gmail, hotmail etc ... Whenever i received an email the counter shows the number. like lets say i got 1 mail in gmail and 1 in hotmail, the counter next to YELLOW icon on Top row shows 2.
I want to disable counter for my HOTMAIL account. Is it possible? So that even if i receive any email on hotmail, i shouldnt see the YELLOW mail notification on Top row of main menu.

Nov 20, 2012I am trying to sync my gmail calendar to my blackberry, but apparently I need a physics degree or similar to be able to do so...... I used to use google synch, but this no longer works & they have stopped supporting it for blackberry, so no help there. Reading through many forums I saw that I could use BIS to do this. Have downloaded what I think is BIS but mystified about what to do next. I only want to synch my gmail calendar to my blackberry one, how hard can it be?

I believe that it just stopped syncing last week and I believe that it was following a Motorola update, but cannot say for sure. Under Data Delivery, both Background Data and Data enabled are checked green. However, this is interesting because Email and corporate sync is grayed out on that screen. When I go to Account, checking the sync options is not possible, but I can do a manual sync. Please note, at one time, these options to sync Contacts, Gmail and Calendar were available. I've pulled the batter. I really do not want to reset to factory default. Suggestions? (Please note this is a company Gmail account, not just regular Gmail.)

I've worked out you can set the reminder alarm to go off in advance of the birthday so that it acts as a reminder (to get a present!)
Question is - at the top of the appointment details of that particular event there is a grayed out line with my email address with a green suare next to it - i can't click on it or change it, was wondering what that is for

Feb 24, 2015Last night my phone started notifying me of SMS messages by a new pop up at the bottom of my screen. I use Hangouts and couldn't find anything in the settings in there so I switched over the the standard android messaging. I turned off all notifications and the pop up still was coming every time I received a message. This almost appears like is a system notification, since it is the same style as other pop ups. (ie: "copied to clipboard" when you take a screenshot) I have attempted to attach a screen shot of the notification. Hopefully it worked. How to disable this notification? Nothing has worked yet.

Jul 20, 2015This seems to be an issue with lollipop, as the G3 and the Samsungs have it too. My phone will sometimes (not every time) beep when it has reached 100% battery. This happens in the middle of the night while I'm sleeping, so it wakes me up.
I have my phone setup so that it will not disturb me. No notifications unless its from a friend. But will sound any clock alarms I have setup. Any way to turn off the battery charge notification?
Some people in other forums state that using the included charger fixes this. It does not. I tried it and it still beeps. It is also not consistent, as some nights it will not beep. Turning down the volume all the way down is also not an option, as I need the clock alarm.

I need it to display the number of unread emails on the icon (I think the little circled number is called a badge?), but do NOT want my phone making a notification sound every time an email comes in. This is really annoying in the middle of the night, especially when it's from spam emails.
When I go into the email app, and choose <menu> --> Settings --> <email account name> --> Notifications --> Notification Sound, a list of folders at /storage/emulated/0 appears instead of a list of tone sounds and a None option. I don't know what to do at this point to disable the notification sound.

Oct 3, 2015I am using a G4 H815 and recently I noticed that the Gmail app (yes, official) sometimes only notifies me about new inbox mails a few minutes after they were received, usually 1-3 minutes. I didn't notice this issue until yesterday when I placed my G4 with my Nexus pad side by side and Nexus always notifies me *instantly*, by which I mean if I open a web browser on my computer and compose an email to my gmail account and hit the send button, in less than a second the Nexus will beep, while G4 only tells me this new email after a few minutes.
It is not the notification sound issue, then phone simply sits there without telling me anything until a few minutes have passed. And I also noticed that if I keep my phone alive by using it, then the delay between email incoming and notification is significantly shorter most of the time.
