BB Curve :: 8530 Won't Work Unless It's Plugged In
May 6, 2011
I'm stuck in the 80s with a corded phone again. It works fine if it's plugged in. But when I unplug it and try to use it, a white screen will flash and then it turns off completely. It automatically tries to reboot, but fails on most occasions. I have to hard reboot to get it to work again and still have to have it plugged in. Anyone have ideas on how to get this to work??

Carrier: MetroPCS Model info and OS version: Curve 8530 v5.0.0.973
Apps and free space File free before and after a battery remove/replace: (this may not be a good indication since I have battery pulled at least once a day, so the before figure is approx 16h after a battery pull) 100001616 Bytes (before); 99764352 Bytes (after)Did a battery pull fix your issue: No.Apps installed: Gmail 2.0.7, MetroNavigator 5.0.1, Pocket Express 5.3.15 Approximately a week ago, while I was playing music on my blackberry, it suddenly turned off. This then reoccurred increasingly frequently. The phone shows the hourglass spinning in the center of an otherwise black screen. Sometimes it attempts to boot up, but never succeeds -- unless it is plugged in. The amount of time it works while not plugged in has increasingly shortened. Yesterday, while on the phone, I unplugged for less than 30 minutes and it 'turned off'. I have tried to battery pull many times. Perhaps something is wrong with the battery -- after finally plugging it in and turning it on, the blackberry shows little/no battery and is charging. However, if in fact the battery has no power, how can the phone attempt to turn on continually for such a long time?
I just got a 8530 from work and the second I plug it into my pc by the USB cord, it shuts the phone off and the red led comes on. Then the white spinning clocks comes on and then back to the red led and keeps resetting. It does this on both curves we just purchased for work. Same PC works without a hitch for a 9550 and a 9630 same usb cord. As soon as I remove the usb cord from the curves, they boot up fine. Any help would be nice.
I've been using BBerry for a while. Not new. After the last 'upgrade' to Blackberry App World I couldn't use it anymore. When it's installed there is no icon. When removed the icon appears. When I click on icon it directs me to download App World. And the cycle starts over again.Curve 8530. Sprint.v5.0.0.459..No it's not hidden. Went through the knowledge base and can't find anything relating.
I've had my phone for about a month now and my "P" button is... Having some problems. It still works but its hard as rock to the touch. It doesn't click down like the rest of the buttons. I have a few scratches on the phone on the back piece and such. So does RIM cover this? I'm going to call tomorrow I was just wondering if anyones had any hardware problems and was able to get new phone sucessfully.
Checked properties and it says unavailable. Just a black screen with sprint logo appears.Any clue how to update this app?Is there a better app out there for tv?
I just got my BB8530, and I am using 6.0 desktop manger. The Chinese input is shown in the desktop manger, and it is already installed, but I can't change the input language in my BB.
Blackberry 8530, email enterprise activation won't work. I've discussed the problem with both Sprint and our IT department at work without resolving the issue. Both say it should be working. Sprint's latest suggestion is to exchange the phone for a new one. (Which would be my third phone in a week since first getting the 8520) It retries, then occasionally the screen pops up to say the enterprise server hasn't responded with the options to continue or cancel. I'll be heading to the Sprint store this afternoon to either exchange the device or get something completely different.
My boss would like to forward his work emails to his personal email account. Is this something he can do on his own?Can someone provide setup instructions?
hi just recently, the letter "a" on my 8520 wont respond and sometimes my trackpad will freeze on me. and if i leave any of my keys untouched for more than 20 seconds i would have to press down on a key to get a response from the phone. im running a .681 but ive only heard good things from it. any suggestions/ideas to whats causing the problem ?
when someone calls me or i call someone, i cant really hear whats going on. my speaker "pops" and thats all i hear. it pops like every two seconds. and now my microphone doesnt work. whats going on with my phone and what do i do to fix it? i've battery pulled many times
A couple of weeks ago my employer gave me a password to activate my Outlook account for my Curve 8530. I was able to send and receive emails for about 3 days, then I suddenly stopped receving emails.I can send email from my outlook address, my Sent Items appear and my Outlook calendar items appear on the blackberry calendar.I'm just not receiving emails through the Inbox.I've contacted my carrier and my IT department at work, but no one can figure out why I'm not getting emails on the Curve. The usual fixes aren't working.
This is my second blackberry curve 8530 and they both have the same problem, they won't play videos. They use to but now when I go to like you tube, or nothingtoxic.com, or even my video recordings it won't play it says an error has occurred media attempt failed. I use to restart my BB and that would help for a lil while now it doesn't work at all. How do I fix this?
When plugged in with any USB iPhone charger, the screen will not work. even if it's open to an app and I plug it in. I've tried different plugs and different cords as well as a hard reset. I just bought it this week. My husband got one too and his is fine. It's an iPhone 5s...
Yesterday my phone randomly turned off and began to restart itself every 10-20 seconds. Now the display and generally phone wont work unless its plugged in. But once I plug it back in its like my phone was always on, it goes straight back to my lockscreen and shows any notifications I'd gotten in the time my phone wasnt working.
It is a HTC one mini s2 which I got a week ago, whenever I plug headphones in and listened to music and unplug the earphones the internal speakers no longer work for anything, not sure what to do?
I have an IPhone 3GS, and everything works fine when the headphones are not connected to the headphone jack. Volume buttons work fine, up and down.As soon as I plug any headphones/speaker, I am able to turn the volume up using the side buttons, but not down. I have gone through all of the sound, ipod, and general settings on the phone but cannot find a way to fix this. Btw, the IPhone is Jailbroken, so I would like to refrain from simply trying to update the IOS.
I just downloaded the new OS when I plugged my phone to the computer... it sounded like a good idea to upgrade everything but I do not like how the UNlock function is only through the mute button now. I mean, if I wanted to just lock/unlock my phone that way with the push of only one button, I could use the standby (mute) button and press on it again to unlock it before. I really liked the previous version where you had to take the extra step of pushing two buttons (A and Send) to unlock it. Because I unlock my phone by accident a lot when it's in my purse and I reach for something and accidentally press the top button (mute button). Any ideas if Blackberry is planning on a new OS version soon that would restore the old locking/unlocking system? I do not necessarily want to downgrade to a previous OS version but I might have to as the "easy" one-button only unlocking option is not working for me.
I updated my phone the other day with the v5.0.0.734 OS. It wiped out everything. I had to go back and restore my contacts, reload ringtones and apps, etc. Got everything back the way it was now.
I have three email accounts synced to it. All are active, Wi-fi on, network on. New mail isn't showing up on my handset, only from my gmail account, the hotmails aren't showing up. Used to be you could look in the folder for each email account and see what emails were there, then there was one folder that showed all of them. What am I missing?
I'm gettin sick n tired of this trackball on the 8330, I recently had to fix it cause it would only go up... so onto a new Blackberry! Can anyone give me some input about the 8530? I hear the camera has no flash , is that true? How is that supposed to be an upgrade!? Anything else I should know that's different between the two, aside from the obvious?
I used a Storm for the last 30 days, and had 3 distinct and separate icons: Messages - catchall for everything Desktop email icon 2nd/personal email icon However, I switched back to the Curve (8530) because of the keyboard, and now I don't have a primary desktop email icon. The only way to view work email is to use the messages icon where everything else goes as well. Is there any way to create or separate the two email accounts so I can view the work email separately?
My wife recently purchased the 8530 curve, and I have the 8330. I was playing around with it and liked the view and some of the features that the new software has available (mainly the new clock that has 'bedside' options for use as an alarm clock and the look of the icons.).
Does anyone know if the 8530 software can be run on the 8330 without issues? If so, what is the best way to update to the new software?
One day I was listening to my music on my iPhone and the phone dropped on the carpet (nothing hard) and after that when I took my headphones out, the phone no longer works on speaker and the loud sounds dont work unless the headphones are plugged in.
I changed my theme today and when I did, I noticed that I has a Backup Assistant Icon on my background. Is this true? Blackberries have Backup Assistant now? Please tell me I didn't download a virus.
Is the quality of the device good? My concern is that it is CDMA and GSM. Will that make any difference in network speeds? I don't travel so SIM cards don't matter to me. Is it worth getting the Curve 8530 since it is CDMA?
Im thinking of switching carriers and want to try something new... i kind of like the curve 8530 on the sprint network. i currently have the tour on vzw.... the question is should i the curve worth getting or should i just hold off for the tour2/new bold?
If the Curve 8530 is considered an upgrade and on some features it truly is, like the Track pad v.s the trackball. So why is it lacking some normal basic features such as a flash on the camera or high quality mega-pixel camera as the other upgraded phones have? I am honestly curious as this is my first blackberry but I missed why these features were not included in the newer type model.
