hi just recently, the letter "a" on my 8520 wont respond and sometimes my trackpad will freeze on me. and if i leave any of my keys untouched for more than 20 seconds i would have to press down on a key to get a response from the phone. im running a .681 but ive only heard good things from it. any suggestions/ideas to whats causing the problem ?
View 9 RepliesThe letter key "L" will not work when pressed, and seems like there is some sort of delay with that letter. Sometimes when it is pressed, it does compute the letter but multiple time and with about a 5 second delay. Most of the time it won't work at all.Now, the trackpad also does not work right. It will scroll up ,down,left, and right at home screen, but will not do any of that in the BB menu or apps like Facebook. I can use it properly in the viewing of scent calls and viewing of recent texts. But once I open a text I cannot scroll again.There is a way around all that, if I hold down the alt key I can scroll again, but of course my letter al is not working.

I just bought my new Curve 8530 from Sprint a couple weeks ago, it's a great phone and I love it! ( like all of my past blackberries ). There is just one issue that is bothering me, the E key can be unresponsive at times. For example if i hit it with my right thumb, it usually wont key in, but it always will with my left thumb. It's not a HUGE deal, but it is just a little bothersome.
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust about every day, my BlackBerry Curve 8530 becomes unresponsive to any keys. I use Password Lock (because I have no choice--I upgraded and lost Keyboard Lock) and if I see that the red light is blinking and I go to "sign in" and it won't respond to any keys, including the convenience keys, dial/hang-up, trackpad and click, and Media buttons. However, the phone is still operating and will respond to new messages coming in, phone calls (though you can't use any keys), and Bluetooth, etc. I've tried everything I can think of, but nothing fixes it except for pulling the battery (and waiting for it to restart--which takes longer than my computers). This did not happen back under Keyboard Lock before I upgraded the first time. I'm currently on 5.0.0.734Does anyone have any idea of what's happening, or what can be done to get out of the situation when it does occur, short of yanking the battery?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had the Curve 8530 for a few weeks now. Up until yesterday the trackpad was working correctly. The problem I am now having is that when I press the trackpad to open a link online nothing happens. I have to open the menu and click on Open Link. The trackpad works correctly in all other places except opening a link online. Is there a trackpad setting that I may have turned off by mistake?

I have a friend with an 8520 Curve from I-Wireless. After a couple days of using it his trackpad stopped. Now to me from reading it seem that most problems lie with the 8520 series and also seems that its a software issue as a batt pull will fix it for abit. Will updating to os 5.0 beta fix this problem or does the problem lie elsewhere?

It doesn't click down like the rest of the buttons. I have a few scratches on the phone on the back piece and such. So does RIM cover this? I'm going to call tomorrow I was just wondering if anyones had any hardware problems and was able to get new phone sucessfully.

View 5 Replies View RelatedBlackberry 8530, email enterprise activation won't work. I've discussed the problem with both Sprint and our IT department at work without resolving the issue. Both say it should be working. Sprint's latest suggestion is to exchange the phone for a new one. (Which would be my third phone in a week since first getting the 8520) It retries, then occasionally the screen pops up to say the enterprise server hasn't responded with the options to continue or cancel. I'll be heading to the Sprint store this afternoon to either exchange the device or get something completely different.

View 6 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, the A/Lock key and trackpad on my Curve 8530 are acting weird. It's as if I accidentally touched some series of keys that has now cause those two things to malfunction.The A/lock key isn't working at all. So I literally cannot type the letter A. As for the trackpad, it works fine on the home screen, but when I go into Menu, the trackpad will not scroll to the various applications/folders unless I hold the shift key while I scroll. If I pull up an application like Facebook, the scroll key doesn't work at all. But if I go into my email, I am able to scroll through the list of message and can scroll within individual messages themselves.I thought that if I completely wiped my BB and went back to factory settings that might restore things, but since my A key doesn't work, I can't type the word "blackberry" in order to confirm the wipe.

They use to but now when I go to like you tube, or nothingtoxic.com, or even my video recordings it won't play it says an error has occurred media attempt failed. However, I switched back to the Curve (8530) because of the keyboard, and now I don't have a primary desktop email icon. The only way to view work email is to use the messages icon where everything else goes as well. Is there any way to create or separate the two email accounts so I can view the work email separately?
I went to check my phone last night and I couldn't get it to turn on. The only way is to take the battery out and put it back in. Then the home screen pops up with Unlock, Emergency and Cancel screen like normal (because I have a password) but then the track pad and none of the buttons work so I am stuck on that page with no way to get out. I've tried plugging it in to the charger and I've tried plugging it in to my desktop manager but seems to work?

All of the people in his address book have "classic ringer" as their custom ring tone along with the volume set about midway like its some kind of default setting. I have tried changing the profiles/ringtones and creating new ones (with different tones) this does not change the ringer for those 80+ people. In the Set Contact Alert menu there are only 3 people with a custom tone showing.The Classic Ring is not loud enough for him to hear and no matter how I try to change the default ringer it does not change the ring for the contact list.I've done a battery pull, no change.Updated it to newest OS.Contact list was imported from a Storm 2(he likes having actual buttons to push).
Am I missing something or 1) shouldn't all those people show up in the Set Contact Alert Menu, if there is a custom tone set up or 2) shouldn't their default change if I change the default for the phone.I haven't checked all of them, but did check at least 10 and regardless of what I do they're still the same. Ringer shows Classic all other options say active profile.Is there any way I can change their default ringer without having to give each one a custom ring--too time consuming?
I had a 8330 (for 2 months) that would reboot itself constantly. Does not do it anymore 'cause I returned it for a 8530. The 8530 that I've had since Jan 01 is better, it only does it now and then when it is tethered to my pc.. Rendering it just about useless for my business activities. US Cellular is at a loss. Should I accept this defect as part of the BB experience?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded the new OS when I plugged my phone to the computer... it sounded like a good idea to upgrade everything but I do not like how the UNlock function is only through the mute button now. I mean, if I wanted to just lock/unlock my phone that way with the push of only one button, I could use the standby (mute) button and press on it again to unlock it before. I really liked the previous version where you had to take the extra step of pushing two buttons (A and Send) to unlock it. Because I unlock my phone by accident a lot when it's in my purse and I reach for something and accidentally press the top button (mute button). Any ideas if Blackberry is planning on a new OS version soon that would restore the old locking/unlocking system? I do not necessarily want to downgrade to a previous OS version but I might have to as the "easy" one-button only unlocking option is not working for me.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI updated my phone the other day with the v5.0.0.734 OS. It wiped out everything. I had to go back and restore my contacts, reload ringtones and apps, etc. Got everything back the way it was now.
I have three email accounts synced to it. All are active, Wi-fi on, network on. New mail isn't showing up on my handset, only from my gmail account, the hotmails aren't showing up. Used to be you could look in the folder for each email account and see what emails were there, then there was one folder that showed all of them. What am I missing?

I'm gettin sick n tired of this trackball on the 8330, I recently had to fix it cause it would only go up... so onto a new Blackberry! Can anyone give me some input about the 8530? I hear the camera has no flash , is that true? How is that supposed to be an upgrade!? Anything else I should know that's different between the two, aside from the obvious?

But when i check my email for yahoo on my laptop, it still shows up on my BB and doesnt delete unless I personally delete it. Is there an option that when i check my email from my laptop that it will delete on my BB??

The only apps that I have opened that possibly check the internet are facebook & my weather network app. I have the weather app set to check every hour. So how could it drop so fast? I also have wifi turned on but does that kill it that quickly?

I haven't noticed a pattern as to when it does this, and it doesn't seem to be a regular interval. I'll have it sitting next to me on the table, and suddenly it lights up, shuts down, and starts back up, and carries on as if nothing happened.

My screen has the history of every text message sent between me and the reciepient as if we are in a chat screen. On the curve 8330 all you had to do was go to options-sms-number of previous items and change the setting. Under the help option and in the user manual for the 8530 it says to follow those exact directions but for some reason that option is not available for me when I go to options-sms. I contacted my service provider Verizon and they stated the option isnt available on this model. So why would it be under the help menu on the phone. Can anyone help me I hate to read days and days of text messages between me and another person if I make a mistake and scroll up. All I want to do is see the previous text message in the new text message screen.
