I receive direct connections as normal but when i have my bb in my pocket i press the "a" to turn it to stby mode, and im having problems receiving ptt connections.. somebody know something about it?

Only problem is NONE of my friends have walkie-talkie, hence I cannot use it.
So if anyone out there, male/female interested in using this, hit me up.

I just updated my blackberry and I have a question. Prior to updating I used the PTT key just to turn on the backlight. Now it brings up my DC contacts. I can't find a setting to change it back. Is there a setting? (searched the forums didn't see anyone else complaining, other boards had people asking about it with no answers)
The only other problem I've seen with the update is last night I was on the phone with someone on a cell phone. The call "failed" and usually I get 3 trouble tones (like oldschool trouble tone) except the tone kept going until I shut the phone off.
lets say i have my direct connect speaker on, whenever im not using it and i get a call, i can hear the "beep-beep" sound loud (it also vibrates because of the settings i have), but when i have the speaker off, i cant hear it because the sound is also set to private (speaker off), how can i make it to get the voice of the person private but at the same time make the "beep-beep" sound loud (like in speaker on)?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI've looked in some older threads and had no luck, thus I come to you with a brand spanking new thread! I have a Blackberry 8350i with Nextel Direct Connect through Sprint/Nextel.
Where I work, we are regularly using the direct connect to keep in touch with coworkers. As a result, a couple of issues have come up (and from what I've seen, I'm not alone)... I'm wondering if there are any solutions for these:
1] Direct Send My Info - Shows up every time someone tries to contact me via DC. Most of our employees still use the motorola i335 (or older models), so it may be something they have no control over. However, given how often the direct connect is in use, it means I receive 50-100 of these messages a day that have no substance.
2] Contact Issues - It appears that there is some disconnect between contacts and the direct connect feature. I have contacts stored (via Contacts App) with their direct connect numbers included. However, when they come up as having called on DC, their names do not come up. In addition, it seems that, on several occasions, my direct connect list outright vanishes. This is only mildly frustrating when 100 contacts are stored. It seems as though the DC contacts are not connected to the BB contacts.
Anyone know how to set the direct connect to auto default another direct connect phone? sorry I am so new to blackberry period, I have had all moto phones since it started. I am not likeing it too much cause the battery for life for me sucks, I still have time to return my 8350i which I am seriously thinking on doing.
I am a truck driver and I find it very hard to use compared to my I880 which I have my dc connect automatically to my dispatch, battery life barely lasts me the day. I am told the battery life on blackberry's are suppose to be great.Is there settings I should need to tweek on it?

On my old Rant I received the emails instantly. Is there a 3rd party email that is available. Please help not really wanting to go back to my Rant phone but need phone that will deliver my work emails quick. Work emails are not on any kind of exchange server either. Just simple MS Outlook through our local cable company.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got Googe maps, BTC Mapper, and Endomondo on my phone. They all use GPS to track you, plot where you have been, and save tracks for you to chek out later. They work nice. I use them a lot for walking, running, and bicycling.My question though, is the GPS actually using the GPS satellites in orbit, or is it using triangulation off several cell towers to get my location?If it is using GPS satellites, why is it that if I turn off all connections (Mobile Network Sprint & Wi-Fi), I lose all GPS connections as well? If this device is atually getting signals from the satellites, what difference does it make if I am in a cell coverage area or not?I've read that, yes, the location is retrieved from the satellites, but to plot it on the maps takes the cell connection. If that is the case, is there an app that just logs longitude and latitude every second and stores it in a file that can be dumped to a map at a later time?
The reason I bring all this up is because, later this summer, I plan to go on a 2-week long cruise that will visit about a dozen different Carribean islands and I'd like to track my location. At sea, I won't be able to pick up a cell signal. Will the GPS tracking apps like google, still work? Even if I can't get a cell signal, my GPS should still be able to pick up satellite signals

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo earlier today before I went in to school I put my phone in bedside mode (so that the led would not blink (I use berrybuzz, which is very bright)) then locked the keyboard and put it in standby, for added security, before putting it in my book bag. After 2nd period I got my phone out and it was hot, as if it had been continuously downloading something or playing a video. The screen was dim but never turned off. The battery, which was at 100% only 1 or 2 hours earlier, was drained to 1 bar. I checked to see if any apps were running, with no luck, and then pulled the battery out and left it out until about an hour ago or so. The phone is fine now, but I don't know what happened.

View 12 Replies View RelatedMy Bionic is connected to my Exchange Server @ my Firm. My Firm requires Device/Storage Encryption, which the Bionic supports just fine. Now that our phones/SD cards are encrypted when the phone is connected to a PC and the SD card mounted the pics are no longer readable because they are encrypted. Windows is unable to read them, if I email that pic from my phone to my gmail I can open it just fine. If I try to open it direct from the SD its a NO GO. I already ruled out that its my PC I tried 5 other including my personal PC at home...NO GO! So how to I access the pictures direct off the SD?

Start camera up and it displays Camera in Standby Mode. There is a Continue option available however when selected the standby mode message reappears. I have also noticed that the Image Sequence setting is ON and Im unable to change this setting.Have tried hard reset and have upgraded to latest 10.5 software. Have also spoken to Nokia support with no luck.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy phone was working fine last night but this morning I am unable to shut it down. The only way to shut down the phone at the moment is to take the battery out. I can start up my phone by replacing the battery but when I try to unlock it it won't work.
At start up it verifies the software then gives me options to Unlock, Emergency, or Cancel but it i cannot select any of these and I cannot scroll through any of the options. The phone eventually goes into standby ( black screen ) which I am unable to get it out of.
I can hear my messages coming through and and the screen lights up when calls come through but I can't answer the call as the keyboard won't work. The green light also stays on despite the phone not being fully charged.
normally if my phone was om extended Standby Mode and I wasn't using my phone, I wouldn't receive notifications from F.e. Facebook, Whatsapp etc. I haven't selected apps that should be active in extended mode. And now all of a sudden I'm getting notifications in extended Standby Mode even when I'm not using the phone and no apps are allowed to be active.

I've been using it for couple of day now and overall I love it, but I do have one major issue. Every once in awhile it reboots itself, for no reason, then comes back to the standby screen. It does not seem to turn all the way off, but the screen goes black and I do see the word NOKIA on the background. This is very annoying. I have not noticed any patttern or certain thing I'm doing at the moment, just seems to be random. Does anyone have any idea what's causing it? Thanks in advance for any help / ideas.

my droid 3 screen wont turn on. i can see the notifacation light blink and feel it vibrate and if i slide the keyboard up that will light up but the screen stays black. only way to turn back on is to pull the battery. verizon said it wasnt a known issue and sent me a replacement and not even 24 hours into the new phone its doing the same thing.
