I am travelling in Europe with a group of people, and I cannot seem to be able to use BBM or send or receive emails on my device,when I am connected to the wifi, this wouldn't be a problem, except, everyone else who is travelling with blackberrys are working fine!!! I have turned of my mobile network, and I can browse and use whatsapp using the internet, but no BBM??

When I arrived in Haiti, I wanted to switch my SIM card so I would be able to use/have a Haitian number. I do NOT have an international plan. When the guy put my the Haitian SIM in, the phone requested my BlackBerry ID and password. I typed both in, which were both correct, but it kept telling me that it was an incorrect password. The guy told me that the only way I would be able to "reset" my BlackBerry ID would be to sign out and in order to do that, it would wipe out all my pics and everything. I didn't want to do that so I ended up buying a Haitian phone w/ a Haitian SIM card.
At this point, I have two phones. One American with an American SIM card (BlackBerry) and a Haitian phone with a Haitian SIM card.
When I arrived at my house, I turned on my American phone and its WiFi, but my BBM and Emails were NOT WORKING! However, my Facebook App and the Browser are both working perfectly fine. I restarted my phone many times since yesterday and nothing has changed. I checked this morning to see if it was working, but no luck.
So my question(s)/problem(s) now are:
1. How do I get my BBM working again? (probably the most important one)
2. How do I get my emails working again?
3. Is there any possible way for me to have my BlackBerry(American phone) work with my Haitian SIM Card?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I used to use Nokia N95, I could check my web email and use Whatsapp, Gtalk, Yahoo Messenger, Skype - just by using a Wi-Fi connection.A couple of weeks ago I bought a Bold. I was told that I can do what I used to with my Nokia simply by switching off "Data". I did that, but then nothing works. I couldn't send nor receive any Whatsapp and chat messages.When I switched "Data" back on, Whatsapp works, but it is using up my minutes (hence, my provider's internet connection), and NOT the Wi-Fi. Gtalk and YM didn't work even with Data being on. Forget Skype - I couldn't even download it.So I took out the SIM card from the phone, and only then did Whatsapp work using the Wi-Fi (Gtalk and YM didn't). I was also able to surf the web. BUT then ... I can't make/receive voice calls and SMS! Not good.
How can I make sure that the apps that are actually able work independently by using Wi-Fi do so in BlackBerry without touching the network's internet connection? There must be a way to do this, because it is doable in my Nokia. I even only have a pay as you go SIM card!
i have tried everything under the sun and the problem still exists.my problem: my bold 9780 is connecting to my wifi but won't use the connection when browsing the web.
i don't understand and it's quite annoying why it won't work as it did before. i've even spoken to orange and sky to try and solve this problem and still nothing.
whenever i browse the web on my blackberry via the browser through wif the pages never load. it's actually quicker to disconnect from wifi and use 3g then wifi. my blackberry was working fine before why has it stopped working. this has to be fixed as it's a pain!
i've tested other wifi spots and i have the same problem so i know it's not my router. i removed the security on my router but still no luck. i've done a master reset on my blackberry and still the wifi will not work. i've even had the handset replaced and still the wifi will not work!
the blackberry connects fine to the router and its shows as connected to the router but it just refuses to load pages when wifi is on. it gives me an error message:
"unable to find the requested server"when wifi is on and i try to browse the double headed arrow icon in the top right should be on when using the wifi, but it hardly appears at all when the pages attempt to load it should be on constantly when loading pages through wifi.
i can't even see Internet videos it keeps buffering the gives me the same error message as above.
My BB9700 is not getting connected to IM such as GTalk, YMsgr, Facebook via WIFI. I do know that it requires BIS services but how come Internet websites are getting connected thru browser via same wifi..

However I enabled wifi where I am staying so I may still be able to use the blackberry applications such as bbm, facebook, weather network, blackberry app world etc.Everything has been working fine for the first two days but has then recently stopped. I can still browse the web, but my bbm msgs are not going through nor am i receiving any, fb alerts have stopped coming in and so on.

View 9 Replies View Relatedi am using bb bold 9780 & i am facing issues in using the wifi connection. whenever i open the browser & try to surf on wifi it shows the message "unable to connect to the internet" but as soon as i open the Internet on the device it works properly & then the browser also works fine for some time then again it shows the same message. the same thing is happening with the facebook & twitter apps they work for some time then they dispaly the message that u r currently not on the required data paln connect to wifi. then again when i open Internet it again starts to work then suddenly stops working on wifi.

I am using Bold 9780 and just last week my lcd broke, after replacing the lcd am having this error due to which my phone accepts the sim but is'nt able to connect to the service provider, inturn after 'Searching Network' for a while it shows 'No Service'. On the other hand the wifi is'nt showing any routers nor the bluetooth even though i have kept it on 'Discoverable' . I did a complete wipe and installed 6.0.0.254 but still the problems not solved, and if i try to regitser the sim, A message pops which reads 'Supplementaty Service Error: General Error

View 1 Replies View RelatedI noticed that today the BIS over WIFI stopped working. This is concerning me because last year (June 2010) the same issue happened. The WIFI indicator turns from White to Gray and all BIS is routed through the GSM connection. This frustrates me because I travel overseas and have been using BIS over WIFI for about two years now. However during the two month outage from June - July 2010, I was unable to utilize BIS over WIFI until it suddenly started working again.
I have a data plan that allows for 250MB of data per month.

Like I've stated before, BIS over WIFI has been working flawlessly for about two years (except for the two month in 2010). To add insult to injury, nobody from either BlackBerry or Vodafone Spain has been able to come up with an explanation as of why this service suddenly stops. All I'm being told is that BIS will work with GSM, which is pointless information. For the 22 months I've used BIS, it has worked over WIFI.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI literally drop EVERY WiFi call after about 5-7 minutes. I get an error message "WiFi Signal Lost". I would normally just blame the WiFi network I'm on, but it does it on multiple totally different networks (home, work, Burger King, etc...). And I know for sure both home and work networks are very stable and fast. Not sure what the issue is. If I go and view the network details of the network I'm on, the signal strength is typically between -40 and -75 dBm. While in UMA mode, the phone will actually go out of UMA mode sometimes for no apparent reason, and won't go back into UMA mode until after a few minutes. The worst part is that the Home screen says I'm still connected to the WiFi network, but the top right corner doesn't say UMA! It says 3G! And YES, my Mobile Network Mode is set to "WiFi Preferred". Even if I set it to WiFi Only, the top of the Home screen says I'm connected to the WiFi network, but the top right corner says OFF and the phone just goes dead!!
I use this phone for work and it needs to be reliable. Is my above WiFi Calling experience normal?? If not, does anybody know anything I can try? Are there some apps that conflict the with operation of the phone portion at all? I'm back to using the default theme now and it's still doing it... Should I try doing a factory reset? Here are the apps I can think of that I have installed:

If I'm scrolling through a page, the pointer will all of a sudden stop and become completely unresponsive for a few seconds. Then resumes like nothing happened. And, if I'm typing a long text or email and it does this total-lock up, I'll look up from the keyboard and see that none of my keystrokes were being echo'd onto the screen while it was locked up. But then it starts working again like nothing happened. BUT The strange thing is that if I'm typing while it's locked up, it doesn't appear to a buffer any of my keystrokes! (as opposed to on my old BB 8330: sometimes when it got bogged down because I had too much stuff running in the background, the keystrokes being echo'ed to the screen would sometimes slow down and lag behind my typing.... but it always kept track of what I typed and would eventually catch up.) HOWEVER, when my 9780 completely locks up like I mentioned above, it doesn't seem to recognize that I typed anything while it was locked up. when it "snaps out of it" and comes back to life, none of the keystrokes I typed while it was locked up are echo'ed onto the screen. I'm wondering if it's during these complete lockups that I'm dropping calls?

I dont get particularly good network coverage in my room at home (which I've come to terms with now), but I do get wifi. BBM and FB have always worked due to the wifi, but recently, neither has worked unless i've managed to get network coverage. I've tried battery pulls, and i've tried deleting and re-installing software.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just arrived in Germany for a vacation. When I arrived in my room, I connected my Torch to the wifi and was able to use all my data functions. At this time, I had turned off the mobile network, and was strictly using wifi.
This afternoon I picked up a German SIM card and activated it on my phone.Now I cannot use my bbm or facebook, even if I turn mobile network on, or my original SIM card.
soon as the phone tries to enable wifi calling via the settings it says authentecation error try again. then i click it to try again and it takes me to the self service thing and says it has been enabled and phone immediately reboots but then wifi calling still is not enabled and when i try again the proccess repeats.

Before i went on holiday my bbm worked through my wifi. i turned off my network signal because we were abroud but i could still use bbm through the wifi at the house. Now we have come back, my phone connects to the wifi but bbm wont work through it. All my other apps that use the wifi work, just not bbm

I checked with my carrier and bbm does work over wifi so dont tell me it won't and I do have a data plan. I know other people with the torch as well and their bbm does work over just wifi. I was on the phone with bell and blackberry for 3 hours, and they cant get it to work either, I tried deleting and re-adding the app and just about everything else i could find.
