My balckberry app icon along with some others have disappeared from my home screen. How do I go about getting them back. i have downloaded them but they sitll do not appear.

I got a problem with my bb9700 on SMS. When I powered on my bb, it showed like"uncaught exception：string index out of range:0". And the sms & mms icon disappeared. In message-box, I couldn't see any sms here,but only emails and mms. It will show a list about short messages when i press(alt+s), but any message can't be open, just a list. I have tried v6.0.0.593/680/743, but it doesn't be fixed. I can only wipe the phone , but several days later,It will repeat. no BIS/BES with my phone.

I know it was there earlier today since I went in to see if there were any BIS 3.0 changes (I didn't see any).Now it's gone.I still have all my e-mail accounts set up and they appear to be working fine, but the setup icon is gone.Has anyone else noticed this issue?Is there something going on with BIS? Question 1.) Is that the reason why the icon disappeared (compatibility issue)? I have read issues on forums similiar to mine but it is not successful. I downloaded the BBM again and again; reboot the phone; but still it is not showing. I read something about BB device software version 6.0 (only one showi on the website).

I've tried taking the battery out for 30 seconds, finding service books (it won't let me send), and i've tried checking if it was hidden, but i didn't know how to check that on the 9780. I've tried looking it up and every post says "from the home screen, press menu and then show all" but there is no regular menu option nor is there a show all.

My contacts are still there, I can find them by searching but don't have an icon on my home page (or anywhere else) to click on to add new contacts or find old ones. Can anyone advise what I've done? I've tried synching with my laptop but that hasn't brought the icon back, and I've powered off. I backed up to the cloud earlier but am a bit bothered about trying a full restore! Besides, the contacts icon was missing when I last backed up, so it probably wouldn't come back anyway!
