recieved a new text message sound alert and the symbol showed on the menu page to indicate a new text message had been recieved but when I went into the text message folder there was no new text?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a symbol I can't identify next to one of my text message conversations. It looks like a tiny cell phone. The symbol appeared when I texted a friend who recently moved to China. He still has his same American Blackberry but no data plan, hence no BMMing, but his messages still appear in my BBM chat list with the same symbol. The conversation shows up under in my text messages like it normally would as well. What does this symbol mean? Does it have anything to do with him leaving the country/deactivating his data plan?

It is set to play a sound (message 1), and i've had it for months it used to beep normally but now it doesn't anymore. and the phone is not on silent. It doesn't show the new message icon either. Only way I know I've got a new message is by going into the messages screen and seeing the red inbox sign.

When I recieve a text I am no longer alerted on the home screen and no noise will be made when I am on the 'General' profile. I can only see if i have recieved a text my going to messaging on the Menu and checking Inbox here. I am not alerted by an icon at the top of the screen either in the corner as i was before.

As since the answer is likely still no, why do you think Apple still hasn't implemented this, especially since we now have iOS4? My concern is because while I love the default (tri-tone I think it's called), with so many friends and family with iPhones, it starts to get confusing for people (since nearly everyone around me uses this one as the others are meh).
My text notification only goes once. I need it to keep going until I look at the text.

I have a need to have text (SMS) messages to wake me, but I dno't want general emails to wake me at night. My iPhone 4s spends most of its life in silet mode, but I need all text messages to be obnoxious so that they will make me. When I had a BLackberry I could set different message notification types for example I can always have text messages loud but could silence anything else. I'm toying aroudn with setting the contact SMS to be the Alarm tone but I'm not sure how this iwll work when I have it in silent...

So starting last night I noticed that when I get a instagram notification my phone would chime and it never did that before. No big deal. However this morning I put my phone on mute and when i received a text message my phone chimes. I turned the sound off and defaulted the messages to silent but it still keeps making the same noise even though my phone is on silent.
How I can turn that off?? Its a Samsung Galaxy S5
My n8 only vibrates once when on silent. It is not very noticable and I would like it to vibrate several times. Am I able to change this?
Also is it possible to change the force of the vibrate as it seems quite weak compared to the n97?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have never posted on anything like this before so please bear with me.I have a new 6700 slide, but there are 2 things I can't get used to, having had a Samsung phone before.
1. (The worst thing) - if a text comes in, and I don't happen to hear the buzzy tone thing, then I don't get another reminder, and there is no visible sign on the phone that there is a new message unless I open the slide. Even then it doesn't tell me who the message is from and I have to go to the inbox. Is there a way of getting more than one alert? I really don't like this.
2. Every time I turn the phone on it asks me to set up my email preferences. I don't want to use it for email but even if I cancel it, it asks me again next time I turn it on. Can I stop it asking once and for all?
3. Is there a way of marking text messages for deletion, without having to mark just one (very time consuming) or all (which you might not want to do)?
I would be really grateful for any help on one or all of these questions. I really wanted a Nokia but now I am pining for my Samsung.
