I was recently given an unlocked Blackberry Bold 9000. It is an AT&T phone, but I am using it on the T-Mobile network. For some reason, I am able to connect to WiFi, but when I do I am only able to use the internet. I am not able to use the WiFi to make calls or to send texts. My T-Mobile signal is pretty weak, so it would be nice to use the WiFi to make calls and send texts from home and work.
View 7 Repliesive changed the settings in my network according to the way they are supposed to be any sim i place in my phone does not allow callin or texting the phone is unlocked. Also went in to call settings and it says network or sim error each time i try with a diffrent sim. when i placed my sim in another samsung gs2 it was working fine i could call text surf the net etc?

I currently have the original Blackberry Tour 9630 with Verizon, and the browser works off of my signal. So whenever I have a signal, I have internet. Is this new Bold the same way? My sister has it and we were in the car today and it said internet coverage was not found. I was just curious if it was strictly JUST wifi or if it runs off the signal AND wifi. If somebody could help clear it up for me that would be great.

I don't want to have top set a lock code or anything of I don't have to. If there was a way to stop the phone from lighting up when I get a text I don't think it would unlock but I can't find an option to turn it off.

I tested with headphones and mic and with the telephone itself and on speaker. Dictaphone does work. I checked the mute button.
i just purchased a replacement bb bold 9000 off ebay (it's an unlocked at&t handset that i bought after my bb bold got stolen... total bummer) and it was working fine all week up until last night when it stopped being able to handle incoming and outgoing calls and texts. The internet and email functions still work which is very peculiar. also some further info, when i put my sim card into another handset (in this case a nokia e65) all my normal call functions work and when i put another sim card in the bold the same thing happens (when i try to make a call it instantly pops up with a call failed warning). another thing is the bold shows full service coverage... currently the bold about shows... v4.6.0.304 (Platform 4.0.0.247) im on australia and for some reason i cant update the os to v5

And it sends me to a screen to set up a sip account. It doesn't always happen but it does happen when I try to make a call her from a contact page (ie, my wife's contact page that includes her numbers and other contact information). It doesn't happen if I dial a number from the phone app.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have been traveling a lot, and wherever I've been there's one common thing. it costs an arm and a leg to call back to the US from iPhone, regardless if roaming on AT&T, or using that country's local SIM.I have both Google Voice +, and Skype.GV + is nice for texting, but the nature of it's operation is you dial a number and it dials you back to complete the call, which negates the purpose because then it's still using airtime if roaming on AT&T, and if using a foreign SIM it won't dial out to connect the call to an international.Skype is great because when I'm on a hotel's WiFi or 3G network I can use it to call back to the US to toll-free numbers, however it doesn't allow free calls to standard area-code numbers (like homecell phones.Is there any alternative I'm not seeing? What do people use to accomplish this? I would love to see a company like Vonage or MagicJack come up with an application that would do what I'm looking for, but it seems like there are regulatory hurdles they're facing to accomplish it from what I'm reading online.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got a iPhone 4S factory unlocked. It's only a month old. When I put in my simcard it says either "No Service" or ".... TELIA 3G"
When there is no service I can't do anything but sometimes when I put on the flightmode and switch back I can get my carrier name and 3G, but still no phone service. I can go out on the web so the internet connection works but I cant make any calls and so on.
When I try another carrier in the phone, it works just fine! And there is nothing wrong with my simcard, because the card works in my iPhone 4.

I have an iPhone5 (16GB - 5 GB free space available) and iOS 7.1.1. A couple of days back my apps stopped connecting to Internet. Both 3G network and WiFi connections work as google app and chrome browser connect to internet. Everything else doesn't including safari, mail, whatsapp. Notifications for almost every app work.Â
I tried the following:
1. I Restarted almost everything: router, iphone, iphone with both Home and Power switches held together.
2. I tried upgrading to 7.1.2 but I kept getting s/w is unavailable at this time error. I tried removing the downloaded software. Now I get unable to check for update (not connected to internet) error.
3. I connected to PC and upgraded iTunes to latest version, but can't figure out how to make anything, that's not working, work
4. Also, I tried removing apps that I sparingly use.

- No problem from the Wifi end because I've another phone and it connects just fine over wifi.
- Plus, I have to actually turn off the Mobile Data so wifi can even connect (still no Internet though).
- When Mobile Data is on, Wifi says "Ready to connect when network quality improves" but as mentioned before, no problem with wifi.
1)when you receive a text, can you tell how many other people that text was simultaneously sent to, just like u can tell on the regular non-smartphones and non-PDAs?
2) Can you setup stored quick reply text messages on the Storm2?
3) Can you lock text messages to save them?
have checked with provider and nothing wrong at their end. up until friday all working fine, no downloads done or anything changed and since saturday unable to make calls or send sms. provider sent me new sim in case it was that but still doesn't work. sim does work (fully) in other mobiles though

T-mobile doesn't provide any support on Sony Ericsson phones, and thus this is my last resort. Has anyone managed to get this service working with Xperia? I mean on the phone it is called "Internet calling". If so, what SIP server settings did you use?
