If ATT and Verizon enabled wifi calling for our devices would that mean I can send a full quality video to other phones (like imessage) without it being compressed and distorted ? I know imessage uses wifi and their own servers but Im not sure exactly how that works.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI came from a note 2 to the s6 and never once had a problem with the phone unlocking in my pocket but it keeps happening with my s6 and it's opening apps and texting and calling people. I don't want to have top set a lock code or anything of I don't have to. If there was a way to stop the phone from lighting up when I get a text I don't think it would unlock but I can't find an option to turn it off.

I have the latest version of Android and I am on "EE" but there is no option for me to turn on "Wifi Calling" The warranty centre who flashed the phone, said they were unable to put EE software on the phone. I was recently given an unlocked Blackberry Bold 9000. It is an AT&T phone, but I am using it on the T-Mobile network. For some reason, I am able to connect to WiFi, but when I do I am only able to use the internet. I am not able to use the WiFi to make calls or to send texts. My T-Mobile signal is pretty weak, so it would be nice to use the WiFi to make calls and send texts from home and work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy S6 on the EE network in the UK. I should have the option to use wifi calling but the option is not present in the settings menus. My phone was not originally supplied by the EE mobile provider, instead I purchased the phone which appears to have come from Italy and has the Italian mobile provider TIM (this is shown on the CSC code on the phone)
How to either change this CSC code to the UK one for EE or at least the generic one for UK specific firmware, or a way of somehow enabling the wifi calling feature - I did look this up but I can't edit the necessary system config (xml) files as they are read-only and my phone is not rooted.
This may sound silly, but there are certain times when I text a particular number that I should not be utilizing. Aside from the obvious "self control" answer, is there a way to "block" a number so my device will not let me call or text it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought an international unlocked version of Galaxy S6, was expecting to have the option of Wifi Calling like my S3 does, but it was missing. It should be under 'Connections' but it wasn't there.
Is there a way to have this option back? I need it because I have no reception at all from TMobile at where I work. I used to have 1 bar with my S3, but not this S6. I am starting to unlike it due to other reasons.
Do I need to root it? flash it with a certain ROM?
I'm performing a simple mod for a mate of mine on his S6 (Sm-G920F), which he bought unlocked, but is using on EE. Wifi calling isn't enabled on non EE Firmwares, which has cropped up a few times on here, but it's easy enough to enable.
Basically I rooted the phone (no pingpong for it yet so used CF-Autoroot via odin), and I edited system/csc/others.xml to include the line - <CscFeature_Setting_SupportWifiCall>TRUE</CscFeature_Setting_SupportWifiCall> then enabled Wifi Calling in the phone app settings
This worked like a charm, sent my mate his phone back and all is right in the world...UNTIL he calls me saying that he want's to use a particular paid sport streaming service which detects his phone is rooted and blocks access.
Now I like a challenge, and it doesn't sound beyond the wit of man so I get the device back and try a few things...
1) Remove root via Super SU, rip the unrooted recovery and cache img files from the stock firmware, create my own md5 and flash via Odin.... Flashes but bootloops
2) Flash the stock firmware, create a flashable zip containing a modified others.xml, boot into recovery, flash update via adb... Flashes but bootloops
3) Download the stock EE firmware...Won't flash from Odin
4) Scour the web for a non rooted S6 ROM with Wifi Calling enabled.. So far no joy!
I reckon I must have missed something, any alternate way to enable Wifi Calling or an "Unroot" method that doesn't require a total wipe?
I literally drop EVERY WiFi call after about 5-7 minutes. I get an error message "WiFi Signal Lost". I would normally just blame the WiFi network I'm on, but it does it on multiple totally different networks (home, work, Burger King, etc...). And I know for sure both home and work networks are very stable and fast. Not sure what the issue is. If I go and view the network details of the network I'm on, the signal strength is typically between -40 and -75 dBm. While in UMA mode, the phone will actually go out of UMA mode sometimes for no apparent reason, and won't go back into UMA mode until after a few minutes. The worst part is that the Home screen says I'm still connected to the WiFi network, but the top right corner doesn't say UMA! It says 3G! And YES, my Mobile Network Mode is set to "WiFi Preferred". Even if I set it to WiFi Only, the top of the Home screen says I'm connected to the WiFi network, but the top right corner says OFF and the phone just goes dead!!
I use this phone for work and it needs to be reliable. Is my above WiFi Calling experience normal?? If not, does anybody know anything I can try? Are there some apps that conflict the with operation of the phone portion at all? I'm back to using the default theme now and it's still doing it... Should I try doing a factory reset? Here are the apps I can think of that I have installed:

If I'm scrolling through a page, the pointer will all of a sudden stop and become completely unresponsive for a few seconds. Then resumes like nothing happened. And, if I'm typing a long text or email and it does this total-lock up, I'll look up from the keyboard and see that none of my keystrokes were being echo'd onto the screen while it was locked up. But then it starts working again like nothing happened. BUT The strange thing is that if I'm typing while it's locked up, it doesn't appear to a buffer any of my keystrokes! (as opposed to on my old BB 8330: sometimes when it got bogged down because I had too much stuff running in the background, the keystrokes being echo'ed to the screen would sometimes slow down and lag behind my typing.... but it always kept track of what I typed and would eventually catch up.) HOWEVER, when my 9780 completely locks up like I mentioned above, it doesn't seem to recognize that I typed anything while it was locked up. when it "snaps out of it" and comes back to life, none of the keystrokes I typed while it was locked up are echo'ed onto the screen. I'm wondering if it's during these complete lockups that I'm dropping calls?

With my old phone - the HTC Evo LTE - I used to be able to text over wifi with the Google voice app. I can no longer do that with this phone. I can go to the Google voice website and send and receive texts over wifi that way, but I don't get notifications that way. Is there some setting that is off in the app? Or did they just decide to disable that feature? Google hangouts doesn't text over wifi either.

And thats about all i use my phone for. i have an iPod Touch for music video, wifi, etc I live in a small town and not sure if we even have 3G but they do work. So how long would my battery last? I would like a whole 2 days but you know. And my other question is can it be charging and on vibrate only, at the same time. So I am wondering if there is an app that will turn on the WiFi Calling feature when my phone connects to my home WiFi and turns off the WiFi Calling feature when I get out of range of my home WiFi.
1) I can not connect to the intenet/wifi at home. Had the update go through on the 18th and since then,it will not connect. Connects everywhere else. Went to a Tmobile store and they backed up everything and did a reinstall. Still wont work. Building has reset the router. Says secured, WEP, but wont connect and then goes and shows disabled.
2) When it was reinstalled, now I can not skip two spaces when texting or in emails and then the period inserted and next letter is capitalized. How do I get that back...
Does anyone know definitively what, if any, deployment of Wi-Fi/UMA the 9900 is going to get (in a future software update)? I have heard that it isn't getting it at all, it is getting UMA or it is getting GAN-Lite. I rely on this connectivity so much that it will make the difference between me buying this new Bold or not.

And it sends me to a screen to set up a sip account. It doesn't always happen but it does happen when I try to make a call her from a contact page (ie, my wife's contact page that includes her numbers and other contact information). It doesn't happen if I dial a number from the phone app.
