BB Bold :: 9900 Trackball Not Trackpad (and Slow To Respond)?
Apr 20, 2012
Ever since I first got the 9900 is had some weird issues. The trackpad would occassionally stop working and only the press button function would respond. I i navigate to the settings the trackpad option now reports trackball, but this is not always the case. Now I'm getting the trackpad failing more often than ever, and also the phone also goes into a very slow unresponsive mode, it now takes me a few hours of repeatedly pulling the battery until it boots back into a functioning phone. if the battery pull fails it can take between 2-10mins to boot. If its works then it take <2mins. But the success rate is not worse every time the phone fails.
Just bought one 9900 BB,but the new optical trackback not always work, most of time it stopped working;sometime it returned to normal, but after a restart or sometime,it lost functionality; It was a nightmare to me to use 9900 for this defective.
I have a Telus unlocked Bold 9900 which I am using on Bell. The phone works fine for different lengths of time, and then out of nowhere the trackpad will scroll on its own. Usually up to the top repeatedly, nothing will stop it. A battery pull usually puts it straight for a little while. I read on Crackberry of similar problems, I find if I clean the trackpad it seems better for a while. Is this a software issue or hardware issue? How can I fix it.
At the moment I have 7.1.0 but does 2061 on orange, recently updated, I did a battery pull but no change, and all my apps are up to date. Before the update I was having trouble with my Trackpad, so I deleted the social feeds and blackberry messenger as an attempt to improve the battery, the battery did improve and so did the problem with the trackpad. But when I did updated my phone software blackberry messenger had come back and I was unable to delete it and then the trouble with the Trackpad started again. If that is the trouble how can I delete it so I can use the trackpad again?
my trackpad on my bold 9900 is not responding to swipes at all, i have adjusted the sensitivity, tried many battery pulls, tried wiping it with paper (suggested by someone on Internet) but nothing is happening, i would say that it is a hardware issue as nothing has been changed in relation to the software and the touch screen is still responding fine.
i can press the pad down and it works, but not to any swipes
The cursor on my Torch 9810 has disappeared. No matter how much I try to rub the 'trackball/trackpad' the cursor just won't reappear.I removed the battery, waited about 2 mins, reinserted it, but the problem persists! Please help! What shud I do? A lot of aplications depend on the trackpad and cursor.
I updated the OS on my Bold 9900 to 7.1 Bundle 1149 (v.7.1.0.342 Platform 5.1.0.276) and it's now extremely slow. The phone does not react quickly and it takes up to an hour to restart after battery pull.
I feel like its slowed over time. Not only does the phone sometimes take a good 3+ seconds to find the name I type in in the search box but after I input text and hit the send button, at times it could take 5 seconds to actually go out. Is this the individual app itself or am I having an overall processing problem?
Why is my iPhone 4 home button so slow to respond? All of a sudden I have to hold it down for 5-7 second to get a response, if I get one at all. Also I can't get to the open app dock by double-clicking.
I've had a big problem using my 9900 in bright daylight outdoors, I'm not 100% sure if it's due to heat, or the bright light, but the menus keep going up by themselves to the point where it's very hard to use the phone. I can control the menus by using the touch screen, but it's very difficult with the trackpad because they just keep going up.
so here's my problem. i went over to a friends house today for a barbecue, and when i got there i sent a text so i know everything was working fine. a few hours later i get home and notice that the screen on my Curve is black, and i knew something was up because i know it was fully charged before i left the house earlier. hit the buttons and nothing. so i do a battery pull and it reboots fine, then the screen goes black after 30 seconds and then hit the buttons and nothing. when i hook a mini usb cable up to the port, the screen comes back on for the usual 30 seconds, then goes black like the other times. when i connected it via the cable and the screen lit up, i noticed that the trackball scrolls fine left and right, but pushing the trackball does nothing.the phone is about a year and a half old, through Verizon. i have no problem with getting a new phone, but i don't want to loose the 150 or so contacts i have on the phone. i don't have Google Sync installed on the phone, and i'm guessing that it's too late to back anything up now on my end. when i connect it to my PC, i can access the usually Media folders and Slacker, but nothing else. if i take it into a local VZW store, would they be able to back up my address book the exact way it is now, since the phone powers on and the USB port works fine?i'm going to remove the shell tonight and see if i notice anything.
I upgraded my Verizon Curve 8330 to a Tour and now my trackball is acting up. I'm thinking of changing the trackballs since I never had a problem with the Curve. Are they all the same size or has anyone had problems trying this. I'm not worried about taking it apart or the warranty, but would like to see if this was successful for anyone else first.
Using your BlackBerry 9900's WiFi hotspot feature.. other devices can connect but the browsing experience on the other devices is worse than 56k dialup.I'm using a Bold 9900 7.1 Bundle 1646 (v7.1.0.523) on Virgin (Bell)'s network.
My trackball won't click. (It will move the cursor, it just won't select anything.) I've found the that "enter" key will work in instead of the trackball click in most cases, but there are a few where it doesn't. For instance, I can't select a text field within a web form.
Can you suggest a keyboard shortcut to replace the trackball click?
Almost 3 yrs old. Suddenly the trackball will scroll up, left, right, but not down. So I can't scroll thru my email, contacts, or access any application on the 2nd row of the menu. Anybody have a fix for this
Is there a way to scroll without using the trackball on my bold? I need to get pics off of device that are *.rem. change them to jpg works so far. I know I can email them to myself to get them, but the trackball quit scrolling upwards. I would like to get them off this phone so I can get a new one. This one has always had trackball issues but is getting worse.
I've had the 9700 for several months without issue, when randomely, this morning the phone started typing by itself -'L' and 'H' like this...lhlhlhlhlhlhlhlhl- until a message pops up that says "field full". The phone won't respond to the back button and I can't turn it off using the power button - I have to manually pull the battery out to turn it off. When I put the battery back in, it goes to the home screen, but the trackball only works intermittently, and I can't open any of my mailboxes or make calls. Then, about 20 seconds after I put the battery back in, the lhlhlhlhhlhl thing starts again...I have no idea what is going on, but I use this phone for work, so I really need to figure it out...
My 1.5years old blackberry bold 9000's trackball cannot be scrolled to the right anymore. Should I get it fixed by paying someone, or should I do it by myself? How to do it and what tools do I need to have/buy?How do I know whether I should replace my trackball?
I noticed my trackball was delaying by a couple seconds early this week. 4 days later the trackball does not work AT ALL. Is there any way of navigating the blackberry device without using the trackball. If not, what would you recommend me doing. I have backed up everything except my password keeper (which I don't think can be backed up).
I am a technician configuring a BB for a customer. I just wiped the device and reloaded the OS, including the base software and a few specific programs I've installed on every other blackberry I've done as per company standard. I've tried multiple battery pulls and I've tried reloading the OS through the blackberry desktop software, and it hasn't fixed my issue:
The trackpad only works in specific menus, and it seems to half-work in others, requiring me to use the touchscreen to navigate. Specifically, it WILL work if the selection is currently in the app list, or if I am in the Options. It does NOT work to transition from the home screen to the app list, when viewing the user agreement after pushing programs through desktop manager, and it does not work at all when I am in the Setup. It doesn't appear to be a hardware issue, because the trackpad seems to specifically work in some areas and not work in others. When it works, it works 100%, and when it doesn't work it is useless.
Are there troubleshooting steps I should attempt, or is this an issue that would be better handled by the carrier? The phone technically "works" but I don't want to give a phone with limited functionality to this customer.
I have had my BB Bold 9700 for about six months and love it for the most part.Just recently, the trackpad stopped being responsive as far as being able to move the selector bracket (cursor?) around to select an icon for a program or even move the cursor within any program. At first, waiting a little bit would help. Then turning it off and on with the red key worked. When that stopped working, I did a battery pull and it worked a few times. Then when that stopped working, I did a battery pull and held the escape key (the arrow that does the uturn right?) which I understand from the threads that I have read is BB safe mode. This did not help. Now it is frozen and I cannot get it unfrozen. The last thing I did was load a game (Final Fantasy), but I have been playing that for over a week with no problem then, out of the blue, this problem started yesterday.
I can't select things with my trackball. It started to stop working, so I ordered a new dome as well as a colored trackball as long as I was ordering things.Got parts today, replaced the trackball and the dome, and still no clicking. Could I have not put the dome in perfectly centered? Does that likely mean that the dome is not my problem?
I've gotten used to using the enter key for everything, but some things will not accept that. The option menus just go to the next line when you push enter instead of letting you change the option, the new Google Maps won't accept any input on the initial change permissions screen except a trackball click, so if there's anything else I could try, I'd really like to.
lately my bold's trackball rolls down only when i press it a bit down, but i remember and realize from my friends bold that it could roll down also when u roll it dwn gently.when I roll my trackball down i feel it slides down without doing anything.
Since I have had by Bold 9000, the trackball has always had problems with respect to movement but usually a little cleaning with a Q-tip and alcohol has done the trick. This time the problem is the ball doesnt seem to depress as much as it does or it doenst respond all the time. Have to use the enter button. When the trackball does respond it does double clicks. So If I open an email for example its already set up to reply. lol.
I read a trackball dome might fix things?
BTW my unit is still under warranty but I really dont want someone elses refurb if I can reliably fix it myself and know that the dome is the problem and nothing else ie the processor. Everything else appears OK.
I am having problems with my blackberry 9000 trackball...no downward movement, only side to side and up. Phone is out of warranty and only 14 months old, not abused, dropped or mistreated.
I have a blackberry bold 9000. And it's with a trackball. That trackball is sometimes not working to the left, right, up or down. How will i avoid this? And how will i repair it? Do i need to change the ball and buy a new one? OMG.
