I have a Bold 9780 and for some reason it pops up with a message saying "Battery drained. Shutting down handheld." even though my battery was 50% full. It has happened before. when it happens, I remove the battery and reboot the device. it gives me the same error except this time, the battery icon says that it is fully charged.

this has only recently started happening. i checked the usage and i dont think it is anything to do with any applications, is it just a chance that the battery is worn, iv had it for about 18 months now.
have had this problem for a while now it started a few months back and never got it fixed but its so annoying. i charge my phone everynight and only take it off when im about to leave, its fine and my blackberry works until it gets too two bars and a half and then shuts down saying battery drained shutting down handheld. ive tried buying another battery but its doing the same thing as before it didnt even work for a little bit so is it possible that its a fault with my blackberry or maybe my charger

I tried charging it overnight and still nothing, I have also tried another fully charged battery and that won't work. My Desktop manager software doesn't detect it. Just before it died I had actually transferred all of the data onto a new blackberry and the software said I could now wipe my device but I didn't bother yet.

It always suddenly shuts down the blackberry even though I don't use much of the battery yet. Last week, it became worse. It happens few times a week. So a few days ago i decided to update the software and restore my blackberry..
Afterwards, it became worse. My phone keep shutting down even though battery is still 85%. It wont turn on even if I press the power button. So I took off the battery and insert it back in and after rebooting, the battery will be left with 50%. This is a software problem, virus or battery problem?
I have a curve 9300, when I was using it, a message popped up saying that the battery was drained and it was shutting down. It was fully charged at the time and I haven't been able to turn it back on. I've tried taking the battery out many times and I've left it on charge all night.

Last night, I went to charge my BB after the battery had drained to find on the screen a drained battery icon with a red cross/line through it. I had reloaded the set up on my phone and it still does not work and it seems that the white loading bar under the icon still loads after it has appeared and stops at around 75%.Will a new battery fix this?As I have said, I have reloaded and wiped everything on my phone and I have also tried the 'take out the battery while it's charged, put it back in method', nothing happened.

After it shut off and I plugged my blackerry in to charge up, I couldn't get the phone to turn back on. I popped the battery in and out of the back hoping for a reboot and nothing. I left it plugged in over night. When I tried to turn it back on this morning it still wouldn't turn on. I popped the battery in and out of the back yet again and finally it booted back up, but without a charge in the phone whatsoever even though it had been plugged in over night.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm new to this forum, so if this problem has been discussed & solved, I apologize. My Bold 9700 keeps dying/shutting down unexpectedly. It takes forever to get it to start back up (flashing red light). Sometimes I even have to remove the battery to get it to react. When the loading bar finishes & the screen comes back on, the battery is completely dead, even though it was at least half full before this happened. BTW, this happened several times with my old battery so I bought a new OEM battery. It's happened twice since then. Even stranger, when I was with a friend today, her Bold did exactly the same thing.

Now, I was told it was my battery after much goolging.. I have 3 batteries at my disposale, all working at various strengths. None are changing the issue.So, Ive plugged it into my DM and it gives me 3 OS's to choose from when repairing. View 6 Replies View Relatedi have a blackberry bold 9700 v 5.0.0.862 ( bundle 1446, platform 5.1.0.175 I fully charged my battery monday night, unplugged it before going to sleep.When i woke up the phone was turned off, when i turned on i got a white screen with a battery with a red line through it but no blackberry loading screen.I didn't know what was wrong so i plugged phone in to charge a bit. when there was no change i unplugged it and held the power button. After many many many attempts to turn it back on finally i got the BB loading screen.The battery had full power when I finally got it turned back on.I used the phone throughout the day but come suppertime the battery was still full so i went to a friends. Halfway through dinner the phone displayed " BATTERY DRAINED TURNING OFF HANDHELD " .
Got home plugged in, turned back on and battery was 50%. I charged it to 100% and unplugged it before going to sleep. Woke up this morning to ringing phone i answered it had the chance to say hello then it displayed " BATTERY DRAINED TURNING OFF HANDHELD " !!! Went to turn back on got the battery screen again , finally after an hour or more of trying to turn back on it finally loaded and guess what?? THE BATTERY IS SITTING AT 100%!!I don't know what's going on but my phone keeps saying the battery is drained and the phone turns off but the battery is still full.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the past few weeks, my battery started dying really quickly. Before it would last at least a couple of days even with browsing and using apps. Then it started dying after less than 10 hrs, and even dying while it was more than half full. I went to the Orange shop and they said because I'd left the battery charging overnight, it was now leaking and I needed a new one, which I promptly bought. However, I still have the same problem. I need to charge my phone everyday, and even though I turn it off at night, it still lasts some 10 hrs. I've done the software upgrade and it made no difference at all. I've heard of apps running in the background and draining the battery, but I always had apps and never had this problem before and I can't believe that you can't have apps or else your battery won't last more than half a day!
