I keep getting messages from numbers that aren't even real phone numbers. They start with 9 and are 7 digits long (no area code). I get a few a day, usually at night. They look something like this:
"<Hotmail> http://m.mail.live.com <Reply M for more>"
Any help? I've had this problem with all my blackberrys so I'd imagine it's something with my SIM card (I am with the Rogers network)

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I receive SMS from other people that I have in my contacts I don't see their name shown. I have discovered that when the numbers are stored in the contacts like +1 (xxx) XXX-XXXX the name is not transposed from my contacts. This is the default for my MS Outlook Contacts. If I edit the number to +1xxxxxxxxxx, then the names are shown. Why is this happenieng? Its works either way for incomming voice calls. I dont want to have to change my entire contact list.

Specifically, mine are " 120 1/6" I'm was thinking 120 contacts and 1 of 6 ongoing converstations or something to that effect, but even when I close them out...it still show 1/6. What exactly is this trying to tell me? Also, when powering down the phone what is the difference in the two options? 1 is "turn off" the othe is "full power down" or something like that. What is the difference? I want my phone off to save battery, but I want my alarm to go off in the morning. Which reminds me, what is "Standby Mode"? View 4 Replies View RelatedMy texts are doing strange things for some reason. For example, when my daughter sends me a text it only comes up as her phone number, not her name. Also, I get a new text and it will not open unless I go and open the one before it, close it and then open the new one. Is this something only my Bold is doing? I did a search and did not come up with much. Any help would be great. It is not a huge deal and I have been dealing with it for some time but it is lame. Oh, it is not only my daughter who is also a Tmo customer but a friend on Sprint is also coming up as a number and not her name.

If I am writing an SMS and click "add smiley" not all of them show up, but they do show up in blackberry messanger. View 4 Replies View RelatedI got my first ever BB yesterday, the Bold 9700, but there's a problem with the address book which is driving me nuts! Despite setting the phone up for all available UK localisation options on the startup wizard I cannot enter the postcodes of my contacts in the address book. The field is labelled "zip/postcode" but will not accept letters, just numbers as would be the case for a zip code. I've tried to override the number lock which is the default for this field, but the phone will not allow it.
I've rechecked the "options" folder and the "advanced options" subfolder, but there is nothing which gives me an option to overcome my problem. For those unfamiliar with UK postcodes, they mostly follow the format AB1 3XY but some have a seven character format AB12 3XY. BB's have been in the UK for ages so surely someone knows how to fix this issue, unless it's specific to my model which I understand hasn't been out that long.
i have a bold 9700 on pay as you go but i have internet access as i have a sim card which allows you internet access and unlimited texts for 30 days if you top up £10 similar to a solo rolling contract does this mean i cant use bbm?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was over at my sister's home. She decided to take a crack at guessing my blackberry password... 10 times. Ultimately she ended up clearing about 4 months worth of text messages, and contacts, the photos however remained unscathed.This lead me to wonder;
1. What is affected by a memory wipe.
2. Whether it's actually called a memory wipe, when someone enters your password wrong too many times.
3. Is there any way to get my contacts back?
4. Is there any way to get my saved texts back.Before I go on, I realize that this phone was and is designed specifically for business, I don't expect that there would be a way to get this information back, as that would defeat the purpose of a memory wipe in the first place.
5. How and where can I install the desktop manager? I've only been using my BB how it came out from the box because the CD included tends to freeze / crash my computer.
6. Why is it that the photos remain on the phone? 7. Before the memory wipe, my SIM card had enough space to hold tens of thousands of text messages, now after the wipe, and just another 10 - 20 texts, it constantly says "The SIM card is full." this is what got me HOPING, PRAYING, that somehow, my data was still in there somewhere.
Finally, thank you for taking the time to read through this, if you have an answer or a thought on any of the above, please feel free to post it. I need all the help I can get. (New to BB, New to forums, I might as well right "Lost" on my forehead and walk around this website.
Just rebooted my 9700 and all my texts got combined into one text from one sender even though most of them are from different senders they all appear to be from the same sender!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI did a forum search for my problem, and couldn't find an answer for my specific issue, which is this:My AT&T 9700 worked great until about a month ago, when it started to freeze while I was text messaging. Looking through the forums here, I noticed that it was happening when I had large numbers of saved texts, and I started deleting the threaded messages so that I was never over about 20-25 texts per person. That solved the problem for 2 weeks.Last week, I started deleting all text messages beyond 15 texts, total, and still I have the issue. I just had the phone freeze and refuse to allow me into the threaded portion of the text after just 3 texts (2 from my wife and 1 from me)!Does anyone else have this problem? I have done the following as well, in order:

i have a bold 9700, version 5.1.0.146, recently i have had issues sending texts to only a couple contacts, always in a certain time frame of the night after midnight. my time. I can send and recieve texts from other contacts. It is not this other persons phone.I have tried both reset options numerous times, i do notice once the phone comes back on i have new messages, that are actually old already read messages. So it seems the memory is goofy. i have changed my text delete time from 30 days to 15 days, and have cleaned up some memory in other areas. After midnight i seem to also get old messages poping up at the bottom of the screen as if they were just recieved. its sooooo weird! someone please help its getting very annoying.

I am brand new to Blackberry and am trying to edit my address book. All the telephone numbers from my old Mobile Phone have been imported to my Bold, but it’s labeling them all as “Work” contacts, which isn’t true.
How can I manipulate these numbers easily on my Mac computer? I downloaded Blackberry Desktop Manager for Mac and have backed up the contacts (as a bbb file, I think). But still finding it difficult to actually see the phone numbers and manipulate them on my computer.
Four days ago it just stops sending texts and calls. When I try to send an SMS a little red clock appears next to the message and then after a few minutes it says 'Retries Exceeded'. Whenever I place a call it immediately turns up 'Call Failed'.Then I realised I wasn't receiving texts/calls either.All my bills are up to date, Orange have checked twice now that there isn't a bar on my account, I have set it to 2G only and 3G only, neither did anything so it's back to 2G&3G, I've checked I'm connected to the right network, I have pretty much full signal. I can use BBM and 3G reliant apps such as Facebook but I cannot send/receive emails with either of my accounts.I've updated to the latest OS and I even fully wiped the handset. Done numerous battery pulls.
Tested my sim card in a friends Bold and I suddenly received dozens of unread text messages and numerous missed calls.Kind of worried right now, as I bought this second hand ages ago... it wasn't provided with my contract (which was an LG Arena that I sold to help pay for the Bold) and I have no insurance to speak of.
I'm heading to an Orange shop tomorrow to see what they say, but I've got an awful feeling it's done for and I'll have to cope with my old Nokia 3310 (it's not even colour screen!) for the next 6 months while I save up enough money to buy another Bold...

View 10 Replies View RelatedThere has been an upsurge in complaints on the AT&T Community forum about spam texts from 1410100001. Some have said they will block that number and then get spam texts from 1410100002, and then 3, etc.
Most of these texts come overnight and those who don't have their phone on silent are awakened by the spam. I discovered on my LG G3 that by going into the menu on the native messaging app and finding the number I blocked as spam, there is a label "same as". If I click on that label, it offers several choices, one of which is "starts with". So rather than block individual numbers, I can block all numbers that start with 1410100. I'm sure this will work, although I'm not going to spend time testing it out.
Wife's phone, HTC One, does not seem to have this blocking option, although she has been spared from receiving the spam texts.
All of my contacts are showing up in texts as phone numbers?how do I fix it?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI got a new BB 9700 Bold yesterday and having problems with setting up the sync for the calendar and the contacts which are on my outlook. My hotmail email accounts are working okay. The outlook is on my PC and is the front face for my hotmail accounts.
When I go in to the BB Desktop device manager - version 5.0.1 (latest version) , I go in to the configure option on the left and it lets me click on calendar> then I select outlook and it then lets me select 'finish'. However at this stage an error box flashes up saying 'no available message stores'.
In addition when I check the wifi config on the calendar and contacts icons on the BB device it will not let me select yes on the wireless connection for them.
I have a BB Bold 2 (9700). The Media Card slot wont lock down the card and keeps springing it out. If i keep the card pressed down it works but wont lock down.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Outlook 2007 on my desktop computer and use BT as a service provider and for my email, my Blackberry supplier is Vodafone and I use BIS.I have noticed that if my Blackberry receives an email first I don't get the same email delivered to my desktop. If my desktop gets an email first then the same email will be delivered to my Blackberry. I was happily deleting emails from my Blackberry thinking I would have them all on my desktop but I now find I have to check what emails I have on each before I delete anything. Is this an issue that anyone has come acrosss before and how do I resolve it apart from synching the Blackberry and desktop?I'm often away from the desktop which is why I bought the Blackberry in the first place.
