Jun 29, 2012Just recently my iphone 4s speakers started acting up. I have restored it twice once to a back up and the other time as a new phone. The speakers get really staticy on full volume and then it cuts out but if I turn down the volume and blow air into the speakers it goes back to play fine until I turn up the volume again. I'm going to try to clean it out with a toothbrush and see if that helps. But I'm curious does this seem more like a hardware problem or is it a problem with the operating system and I should try to hold out until ios 6 comes out and see if that helps. I've read all the problems with this so I'm hesitant to send it in since there is no apple store around here and find out I have to pay to get it fixed. Tried to talk to them on the phone but since it's a week past ninety days I would have to purchase apple care in order to get any help but yet that's only available for 30 days after your purchase so I'm not sure how come they can offer that over the phone.

Feb 22, 2010I downloaded ringtones from crackberry a couple hours ago and now my ringers won't work and when I try to play ringtones in the media application it won't let me play them. I tried going through the profiles to make sure they weren't muted or off and nothing is working. I had the exact same problem less than 24 hours ago and the cell phone place just gave me a new phone because they couldn't figure it out either. Jul 27, 2010One thing I have noticed with my new iPhone 4 (and I am guessing it is an iOS 4.0 thing) is that my ring volume affects the alarm volume. On my 3Gs, it did not matter what my ring volume was set at, when I set the alarm to go off, it played at full volume which I like. I am always changing the volume on my ringer depending on where I am so now I find that sometimes it is on low when an alarm goes off and now I don't hear it.

Jun 27, 2012Every app I have that requires volume to listen works fine. But when I close the app, my ringer volume level is still in app mode volume. The app volume completely takes over my ringer volume level although in settings it never really changed. In order for me to get my ringer volume back to it's set volume, I have to go into settings and move the volume up or down. Then and only then do I have control over the ringer volume with the buttons on the side of the phone.

Issue: After upgrading to version 4.6.0.282 the ring tone volume is very low, even when the profile setting has the tone set to High I often miss the call, I have tried turning on "Audio Boost" with no change, tried a hard re-boot, no change. Volume of calls are fine, it's the ring tones, I have the same ring tone in use as before the O/S upgrade so this hasn't changed, no other (new) apps have been installed, just the O/S upgraded. I can't find any sort of master volume control setting in any of the forums is there such a setting, how do I get the volumes back to normal?

I would often try to increase or decrease the volume, and I realize I can't. I tried a battery pull hoping that would solve the issue. Feb 24, 2010I have an iPhone 3G that had a defective dock connector port. I replaced the whole assembly (including mic+antenna) and now I have no sound (ringers, keyboard, etc) on my device. I checked the switch (orange dot) and I've performed a soft reset and a complete restore, with no luck.
If I plug in headphones, I hear everything fine through the headphones themselves. Unplugged, back to no sound.
Ideas and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Also, if there might be another part that can use replacement, please let me know.

Apr 27, 2012I have an iphone 4s and the sounds have stopped working, or at least part of the sound has stopped working. I can still get a ringtone, voice mail on speaker and voice memos I can still hear. But notifications like email, messages and notifications of other apps are only working on vibrate. Occasionally, part of a tone for a message will sound. It did this several weeks ago and then all of a sudden it started working again. I'm not getting any sounds on games. I have checked all the settings several times, done hard resets, turned it off and on many times. I've done everything I can think of aside from reformatting (or whatever it's called for iphones). Has anybody had this issue? I've turned the sound switch on an off many times. When I press the volume controls, the image of the sound bell does not appear. Can't listen to music, headphone jack doesn't work either.
