As the title states my iPhone 3Gs will only output volume at full vome (way too loud on even the tiniest sliver) or none at all (when it is at 0). I've tried using other headphones, restricted the db limit, and nothing seems to work.

When I try to play music or audio from websites through my speakers, I do not have any sound or control over the volume. I have done a reset, I have done a restore, I have done all of the firmware updates. There are no blocks under the ringer volume icon. There is no volume bar when watching video or playing music, but these things are there when I have headphones plugged in. I should also add that my ringer and message tones still work.

Got a 4s. All of a sudden the podcasts I listen to are really quiet same with the music. I have to have it at 70 percent to hear anything in my headphones. Buddy has same podcast and it's so loud I can hear it outside his earbuds. Same headphones. I never noticed this before. I basically have to jam my earbuds super far into my ear canal to even hear anything. Sound check and limit are off.

After playing music I found that my iPhone 4 headphones volume is maybe 20% higher when listening music (testing with the same apple earpods). My volume doesn't work with or without headphones. When I try to turn up my volume the ringer shows but there isn't any white dots showing how high my volume is. When I watch a video, I can't slide my volume up because the bar isn't there. Sometimes (i.e. very often) when I am on a phone call on the iphone 6, and using headphones, the volume goes to maximum and stays there. Pressing the decrease volume button shows the graphic going down and the volume briefly goes down, but then immediately ramps upto maximum volume again. Taking out the headphones and just holding the phone to my hear, enables me to get normal volume again during the call.Â
I think this is nearly exclusively a problem with Headphones + phone calls. Does I need to replace the earphones or the phone?Â

have had my iPhone 4 for the last week. I'm quite tired of people telling me to turn up the volume...it IS all the way up both using the buttons on the side and the slider...the picture tells me it is at max...I'm not deaf (yet) and the phone is CONSIDERABLY quieter than my Palm Pre (call volume not music). There is no plastic film over the earpiece. I have had six people in the last week say "yeah, that's the only drawback of an iPhone...but you'll get used to it." I'm not sure I'll get used to it. With so many skilled programmers out there, you would think with so many questions all over the web, we'd have an answer by now. I will pay the first person to send me a link to an app that actually increases the volume (amplifys the current in-call volume) to the volume of at least the Pre (not that great a phone or difficult a task...lots of music boosters out there, must be a way to boost the volume of the call), not using a head set, not using bluetooth, not using speakerphone: $50.00USD.

I recently purchased a brand new HTC 1 M9.
The phone works fine apart from when I listen to music with my headphones plugged in. For the first 10-15 minutes there is no problem at all. Then what starts to happen is the volume starts to decrease automatically right down to zero. I can actually see this happening on the screen as it is decreasing. Even though I try to turn it up it is battling with me & wants to turn the volume down. I don't tend to get this problem with the headphones I got with the phone but it seems to happen with some decent headphones I prefer to use.
I did read a post earlier about disabling "fast boot mode" in Settings >> Sounds but I cant even see anything regarding "fast boot mode".
I tried lot's of models but none of them let me control volume levels. Since the xperia z 3 is a big phone and I carry it in my pocket all the time, sometimes it's really hard to reach the phone to lover or increase the music level. It's a big shame that sony doesn't think of it.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm on my second 900 now and both have had this problem. The output volume for the headphones is extremely low even at 30/30. I feel like max volume should be loud enough that I never need to use it. I find myself not even being able to hear music at 30/30 when I'm downtown or on the subway. It feels like medium volume on anything else and it seems like it should really be 20/30.
I've posted this on other forums and it seems like all the phones are the same. Can Nokia just implement a simple sofware fix for this? Its riduclous that this got through the testing phase. Do they even know about it?
Just recently my iphone 4s speakers started acting up. I have restored it twice once to a back up and the other time as a new phone. The speakers get really staticy on full volume and then it cuts out but if I turn down the volume and blow air into the speakers it goes back to play fine until I turn up the volume again. I'm going to try to clean it out with a toothbrush and see if that helps. But I'm curious does this seem more like a hardware problem or is it a problem with the operating system and I should try to hold out until ios 6 comes out and see if that helps. I've read all the problems with this so I'm hesitant to send it in since there is no apple store around here and find out I have to pay to get it fixed. Tried to talk to them on the phone but since it's a week past ninety days I would have to purchase apple care in order to get any help but yet that's only available for 30 days after your purchase so I'm not sure how come they can offer that over the phone.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I have the headphones (standard, no controls) plugged in and media playing, the ringer will only ring at the level the media is set at. You can move the slider back and forth but it will stop increasing the volume for the ringer when it gets to the media slider setting. If I increase media slider, the volume for ringer will increase. It will go lower when reduced below media setting. The volume for the media setting seems to be a cap for all volume while headphones are inserted. It must be a bug in GB because Verizon was able to reproduce it. I need the phone to ring loud when under these specific conditions as I get called to go to work, it HAS to be able to wake me up. Ive performed a full factory reset and asked if I can go back to Froyo without a root and, no dice.

This is like the 3rd time that my LG G4 lost all volume...seems to happen after a incoming phone call. I can barely hear lock and unlock sounds but everything else is silent. I checked all volume levels and all are at full level. I am baffled here! The last 2 times it happened, the volume just came back to normal on it's own.
I was able to get sound back by rebooting the phone...but this is a big issue! Can't hear calls or texts coming in!
One thing I have noticed with my new iPhone 4 (and I am guessing it is an iOS 4.0 thing) is that my ring volume affects the alarm volume. On my 3Gs, it did not matter what my ring volume was set at, when I set the alarm to go off, it played at full volume which I like. I am always changing the volume on my ringer depending on where I am so now I find that sometimes it is on low when an alarm goes off and now I don't hear it.
