IPhone 5 :: How To Set Preferred WiFi Network In IOS
Aug 28, 2014
We have 2 WiFi networks. One is for guests and the other is for our own use. Our iDevices always auto-pick the guest network instead of the one we prefer. The only thing that works is to "forget" the guest network but we'd rather not have to do that. In OSX you can drag-order the WiFi networks in Network Prefs into a preferred order. Is there a way to do the same in iOS?
I want to add GSM auto (PRL) network mode menu along with WCDMA only,GSM only,WCDMA (preferred)/GSM modes. Right now I access GSM auto (PRL) mode by *#*#4636#*#* and select set preferred network type in phone information menu. I need to reboot my mobile if I want to switch other mode.
Is it advisable to use GSM auto (PRL) mode over WCDMA (preferred)/GSM mode.
Is there any App available for this to switch between network modes.
I am sure I used to set wifi as preferred in my 9780 in order to reduce my phone bills` costs. I don`t remember how I`ve done it?I cant find `advanced options` in my menu but I recall I may have done it via that option.
I just upgrade form the E72 to the E7 When in range the E72 automatically connected to the wi-fi and used it as the preferred connection for browsinf, email and whatsapp Why won't the E7 do the same? I connect to my wi-fi successfully, but then it still uses 3G for whatsapp, emails & when I go on the internet
Is there any way to change the preferred order of WiFi networks? My office has two WiFi networks, one for my office and one for the conference room down the hall. When I added the network for the conference room I found that when I'm in the office the phone keeps connecting to it, even though the signal is much weaker than the office network. I ended up just removing it from the list, however, when I'm in the conference room I have to re-add it, which is a pain because there's a long password. On my Windows laptop it's easy to just change the order and it will connect to the one closest to the top of the list, but I can't find anything like that on my Photon. It seems like it would be something pretty simple that would have been built-in.
How can I keep apps in the order I prefer? I've rearranged via iTunes but every time I power cycle the phone, the apps go back to their original positions...
When i get to the wifi setup screen (no wifi available) it wont let me continue with setup without selecting a wifi network...there isnt one around so cannot continue with the setup, is there no way around this ?
I'm a new iPhone operator and will never consider another smartphone!
My question is what is appropriate operation of 3G, wifi and edge network?
I get 3G in my area but I have been doing some research and as a result always keep edge on? That it's good for phone usage and text type applications like gmail chat and email? That if you are wanting to surf the Internet 3g and wifi is faster?
Basically the research that I have found is to keep edge on at all times and use 3g or wifi if you want faster results. Also keeping iPhone on edge network uses less battery?
Okay so there's this WiFi network at school. It is unsecured, and my teacher always connects to it. On my iPhone 3G it never shows up, though after I scan for networks using Stumbler (Stumbler says it's not hidden btw) it appears in the settings. So I click on it and it says "Cannot connect" (or something along those lines) and after the third try it disappears again. I tried using SpoofMAC to spoof my mac address to 11:11:11:11:11 and that didn't work.
After a clean install (restored as a new iPhone) of iOS 5.1 on my iPhone 3GS it keeps asking me the wifi network password every time I want to connect. The system doesn't remember the password. The curious fact is that my iPad 2 isn't affected by this bug. It is on iOS 5.1 too but I simply upgraded it from 5.0.1 without a clean install. Resetting network settings doesn't make it to work, the same with an hard reset.
My phone has been working perfectly till today, for some reason, I cannot get on online using the att network. I can have full bars and a 3g signal and still cannot get on. I can get on wifi with no problem. Anyone know what could have happened. My wifes phone is also doing the same thing. We are running the 4.3.5
I tried to update and restore the phone but it will not do it.
Edit: my mother in law just came by and I got on her iphone 3gs, her phone is doing the same thing. Att says there is no problem with their network.
I cannot connect to my wi-fi network. The phone finds it but when I choose it, it simply tells me that it is unable to join the network. I am thinking it is a password issue but the phone never asks me for my password. The wi-fi is locked so it needs a password. I do not have this problem with my laptop or my Ipad so I know the wi-fi network is working correctly. I just can't figure out how to get the phone to ask me for my password. It should do it without any prompting, but for whatever reason it does not.
IPhone won't connect to a wifi network, just get a message saying it won't connect to the network (it doesn't give me a message that I've got the password wrong). Other devices do join the network, What should I do to try to resolve it?
I have a 4s and it was dropped since then it will not connect to AT&T network or wifi. I have tried resetting my network and factory settings no luck. Any other possibilities I could try?
I upgraded my iphone 4S to 5.1.1 yesterday, and it cannot find any wifi network after that. It is not that it cannot join in any network, but it cannot *FIND* any wifi network. I reset the network settings, restarted the device, and it does not work. I could still use the 4G network.
I have set up my new iphone but it won't connect with any wifi network. I have reset the phone and tried typing the password more slowley but nothing is working.
my iphone 4s can not scan any wifi network, i tried everything but still can not scan any wifi connection even though our wifi is working properly in our mac book and ipad.
My iPhone 4s cannot connect to ANY WiFi network. My ipad, Mac Book Pro all do without any issues, both at home and the office. I've reset all my settings and even reset my phone to factory settings. Iit still won't connect, just a constant spinning wheel looking for a network. Is this something ISO 6 will fix?
I wasn't too happy today when somebody rear ended my car and I was trying to make important phone calls..."WiFi preferred" selected, but the 9700 (OS 593) choose a 1 bar UMA over a 4.5 bar cell signal... Failed calls galore... Literally had to stop what I was doing and tell the 9700 to use the obviously better cell signal...
I have an AirPort Extreme running the latest software. I've tried everything and still am unable to join my own wifi network from my iPhone 4s, iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 3G, my girlfriend's iPhone 4. The only devices that will connect to the network are our MacBook Pros and iPads, (1 and 2). I have reset the airport to default settings, I've restored my iPhone, I've even disabled the password. I am still unable to join my open airport extreme wifi network.
Are there any known issues with activating iMessage via wifi in airplane mode?
Staying at a hotel outside the country my plan is in. Hotel has great wifi, so I've been iMessaging a lot. It stopped working last night, so I did what I normally do when this happens: turned iMessages off and then back on. But now it's stuck on "waiting for activation."
Restarted, did the DNS trick, let it sit for 8 hours. Still "waiting," no activation error message.
I even tried turning airplane mode off, but oddly, I can't connect to a cell network, despite being in a major city.
