iphone 4s won't play music or video audio thru speaker in phone. Headset works, siri works, speaker mode works during calls with access to volume control. Without headset, no audio or audio control.

Without a headphone jack inserted, or plugged into a speaker using the port my iPhone 5 16gb will not play any audio or video. It just freezes the phone when you try to play something for about 5-20 seconds and then does nothing.Â
If a pair of headphones are plugged in then everything works perfectly. Same is true through the charging connector. My ringer is also currently not producing any sound.Â
This has been tested on the following apps and is the same on all:Â
- Spotify
- YouTube
- Facebook App
- Twitter
- BBC iPlayer
- Absolute Radio AppÂ
I have tried a a setting reset and a full restore. It does not matter whether I am on 3g, 4g or Wifi. I have had the phone about 5 months. It was a replacement from from my insurance company.Â

My brand new baby is giving me a Bluetooth nightmare. After I use it with Plantronics BackBeat Go 2 headset and disconnect the Bluetooth (even if I switch off Bluetooth), phone audio won't come thru the regular speaker. However, if I switch on the speakerphone, then audio works. A restart fixes the problem. But it is super annoying.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy iphone 4s has been updated to the iOS 5.1.1. Since then it will not play music or give a text message alert sound. We have restored the phone, we have toggled the mute switch, and we have rebooted using the home button and power down and nothing has worked. The volume does not adjust, there is no sound bar when pressing the sound control buttons along the side of the phone. When double tapping the home button on lock screen there is no sound bar. It will ring on incoming calls and the Speaker phone does work while in call. All of the volume controls will work correctly when the headphones are in music plays, text tone works, video sound works but as soon as they are removed it reverts back.

I am looking to buy an external speaker to connect to my xperia play, preferably a sony branded one, but definately one that is portable enough to fit in my pocket.I thought I had found the one that fit the bill perfectly when I checked the sony site and found the MS 430 which is supposed to be fully compatible with the Xperia Play (it even doubles up as a phone stand, which is pretty neat).Now the problem is my jack is on the horizontal side of my phone (opposite side to the left flipper) and not on the top end as shown in the picture to connect a phone to this speaker.So therefore the speaker is not compatible with this phone, unless of course I have a unique phone with the jack in the wrong place or the phone is connected in the upright position, which wouldnt be very good when watching video playback.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was only hearing music played out of the left channel, either with or without headphones and also when played through a dock. Go to Settings : General : Accessibility and slide the L - R slider to the middle. Now the music plays out of both the L and the R speakers. (If you tap the mono button there, then you will also hear sound out of both speakers, but you won't hear stereo effects, so don't do that).

I've just gotten my N8 for a week now, and it's been working alright other than the speaker. The speaker was giving me some problems around the 3rd day where I would try to play a song and there would be no sound except occasional bursts of audio (There would be around 5 secs of silence, then 1 sec of audio). It seemed to improve after the 5th day. Today, the speaker suddenly stopped working and I was wondering why there was no ring tone when someone called me. I also realised that my alarm didn't play and only vibrated.

In a first moment i noticed that if I pressed the screen or the back of phone the top speaker for 4-5 second worked. I Have a HTC One s with a GoSmart sim card. I have had this phone for over 5 months with no problems. On New Years eve, my phone was acting weird and couldnt play any music files. When i would play it song, it would say "Unable to play this type of audio file" Then i try to play a video on youtube, and it would say "There was a problem while playing touch to retry" Nothing that had to do with sound worked. Alarms, ringtones, and even phone calls wouldnt work.
When someone would call me, it would be silent, and when i answered, no sound would come out. I restored my phone to it's factory settings and at first it didnt work, i restarted my phone like 2 times after restoring it, and it worked. I was able to listen to music, play videos, and talk on the phone. This only lasted 5 days. i dont want to go through the hassle of restoring my phone again.
I am having sound problem with my Xperia Play. when I make or receive calls the ear speaker does not work, when I switch to hands free speaker I can hear the other person perfectly, I reset the phone but the fault still persists.
