Motorola RAZR HD Home :: Call Audio Routed To Speaker When Docked?
Feb 7, 2013
When I dock my Razr HD (JB 4.1.2) to my genuine Motorola car dock, my music will automatically route to the car speakers, which is what I want but for incoming and outgoing calls the audio goes to the phones external speaker by default. I can touch the speaker button that then routes the audio to the car speakers but how do I make call audio route to the car speakers by default and not the phones external speaker? If there isn't a setting I can change then maybe an app that will do it for me?

Has anyone else noticed a crackling noise (like bad reception / interference) when placing calls? I want to say what I notice is when I'm getting the ring back while waiting for someone to pick up is the "only" time I hear it. The audio in calls seems to be ok. It's sounds like a weak signal or interference. As far as I know (though I use my phone more for data than voice).I haven't noticed anything horrible as far as reception/call audio in calls, aside from when calling my mom, but I think that's her (she's famous for leaning on the mic or mumbling and trailing off). I start to think I must be old (I'm not) and losing my hearing (I'm not) but then I just realize it's herI don't know if it's because usually when I make a call I just unlock the screen and make the call and it was trying to re-start any data sleeping modes and such or if it's something else...
The screen goes to sleep after the specified time (default of 30 seconds, I have not changed that) even when on a call (both normal calling or when on speaker) Problem is, the only way to activate the screen again is to hit the power key, but this also hangs up the call. Is this a feature/bug, and is there a way around this issue? I don't really want to change the time to sleep to a longer time, as this would waste the battery for other use.
I've had two Razr's behave the same, whenever audio plays, especially using the headphone jack and external speakers, one can hear an audiable click or pop just before and after the audio plays. This happens with Pandora, Rhapsody, and Google Navigator. I haven't tested other audio based apps yet.Verizon and Motorola say they've not heard of this issue, so I'm wondering how many other Razr owners have noticed this pop? Hearing such noises as the audio turns on and off is not acceptable quality for a Motorola branded phone.I don't know enough about how the Android OS works, but I'm thinking there are two possible causes. First, as different apps access the audio hardware the internal electronics of the phone produce an audible pop as the circuits power up and down. Alternatively, the Android OS may be probing the headpone jack trying to determine if it's connected to external speakers. I've noticed that the pop gets louder as the phone approaches 100% charge.
With a 90% charge or better I've even had the audio output go quiet if the headset cable is moved, even though the audio application shows audio is playing. I know that removing the headset cable will pause the player, but in this case hitting play starts the player and it shows progress, but no audio is heard.
I have audio through the headset or speakerphone with no issue but none through the handset. Did a battery pull but that did not resolve the issue. I also just upgraded to Rogers OS 5.0.0.743 not sure if this is what caused the problem.
If one were to listen to FM radio on one's Bionic (assuming this is legal. If it is against the rules, then note I would surely never do that!)....how do you plug in your earphones (needed as antenna) AND listen on the regular Bionic speakers? Is there a setting for this, or is it impossible to do?
After replacing the lcd on my razr v3, now the ear speaker does not work (not the speakerphone). I have bought and installed a new OEM flex cable with speaker, to no avail. I checked the volume and it is fine. This speaker was working fine when this lcd was in another phone. The speakerphone works fine. What simple detail am I overlooking now ?
Firefox settings issues - can't access websites when docked
My motorola atrix has a wi fi connection , is docked and linked to tv using hdmi dock, bluetooth activated wireless mousse and keyboard all work but cannot connect to any websites - comes up with can't connect or find server message. only thing i haven't tried is to do with the firewall settings, proxy , vpn, etc ....I do not know what any of them are
Does any hear a crackling sound on their speaker when on their Razr? I am talking about the earpiece not the loudspeaker. I can hear it on 100% Volume but anything under 100% and I can't hear it or can hardly hear it. Is this normal and who else has this?
1. My phone is lagging. I notice that that this starts occuring when my internal ram gets to about 100MB or less. I never had this issue with gingerbread because I used the auto kill feature in the phones preloaded task manager. Now, ICS does not have a auto task killer and my ram is running extremely low and causeing the phone to lag, especially when going from app to app and returning to the home screen.
2. My audio has been spotty. It works one second then when you load a app that has audio it won't work. If you close the app and load it again then the audio works fine. I have gone into the system recovery and wiped the cache partion on the phone. I also use Cache Cleaner + and have reset the phone and still get the same issues as above. If the suggestions don't work then I call verizon and tell them thank you for screwing up my phone. Worked perfectly fine before with GB.
I have the OEM Motorola Car Dock connected with the combined USB audio/power cable. Whenever I dock my Droid 4, the media volume changes to a default setting (somewhere around 90% of max if I had to guess) and cannot be changed with the volume buttons.
This is a huge problem for me as it causes distortion from my car speakers; I need the media volume to be less than ~70% to prevent this.
If I connect the phone via the 3.5mm jack instead of USB, the media volume can be adjusted normally and I can avoid the distortion...but that requires two cables instead of one and I'd have to connect/disconnect the 3.5mm cable every time I am in my car.
tl;dr Is there any way to change the media volume setting when using the USB port for audio output?
My phones screen doesnt turn off unless I manually make it, I have screen set to turn off every 1 minute and I checked under development to make sure keep display on while charging was unchecked. Is there way to have phone display turn off every 1 minute while docked?
I currently keep the power button set to end calls. During a speaker phone call the screen goes off (as expected). The only way to get it to turn back on is to hit the power button, which ends the call. If I change the settings to have the power button to not end calls the screen will come back on and I could switch out of speaker phone. Is there a way to get the screen back on while leaving the power button to end calls?
when RAZR is sitting on a softer surface that it really effects the speaker / ring sound? The speaker placement is not as optimal since it is easily covered. On my DX it was lower and never was completely covered. Not a complaint, just surprised as I missed a few calls due to the phone sitting on my car seat and sofa.
have a problem with weak bluetooth audio sound? I have the LG HBS-700 bluetooth headset and audio was very full and rich with my Samsung Charge. However, when connected to my Razr, the audio lacks in fullness and bass... In the audio effects option, there is only Phone Speaker and Wired Stereo Devices...
Having problems with RAZR and the audio out abilities? I was on a plane a few weeks ago, put my headphones in and couldn't figure out why I had no sound... turns out all my neighbors heard it cause it was coming out of the speaker... Then when I got back to the US last week, I put it in my car dock and it doesn't send audio to the cable and plays only thru the speaker as well.
I have the motorola car dock for the Droid Razr which came with the Charger that plugs into the cigarette lighter and the 3.5m Aux cable. When i have the charger plugged in with the AUX cable i get interference when playing music from my phone, if i remove the charger and just have the aux cable plugged in via the dock i get no interference.
After purchasing the HD dock, a set of external speakers, and setting the "Alarm & timer" app to play music I was disapopointed to find that the music only plays over the phone's speaker, and not through the external dock audio.I downloaded and installed both "Alarm clock plus" and "Alarm Clock Xtreme Free".Only "Alarm Clock Xtreme Free" has a setting that allows the alarm music to play over the external dock audio.I really would like to use the stock app, if for no other reason that it will auto run when placed into the HD dock.
Is there anyway to get the "Alarm & timer" app to send alarm music out over the ext audio? This seems like a bug that it doesn't.is there a way to "auto run" a different clock app when the phone is placed in the HD Dock?
I was sitting at work the other evening and heard a phone ringing. It was very faint. I looked all around and it turned out to me my Razr. It was ringing from the earpiece speaker for no reason. No text, email, call, Nothing... The only way to get it to stop was to hold down the power and volume keys and do a reboot.
Does anyone have this issue of the notifications playing trhough BOTH the speaker and headphones? I have read that this is a Android issue that Google has not fixed yet
Here is a thread on the Open Hanset Alliance Project: [URL]
I just tried to record audio by PCM Recorder Lite at 44100Hz and it does not work at all (it just record pereodic noise). 44100 it is native clock rate and I really need it to work.
I frequenly charge my phone in my car while listing to music, through the car's AUX port. It worked flawlessly with my Droid2, but with the Razr M, there is noise when music is not playing. When music is playing, even with a very quiet passage, there is no noise. It is only when the music app is not sourcing music (I can't remember if there is noise if the music is just paused). When sitting at the home screen with no music app running, there is definitely noise. The noise I'm hearing sounds like CPU noise...digital interference noise. But, car electircal noise must also be coming through the charging circuit. I do not have any issue while charging on AC power.
I have this problem on my new RAZR MAXX as well as my Bionic. After using a Bluetooth stereo headset or Bluetooth in the car, once the connection drops, the phone's speaker stops working for awhile. For instance, you might get a call and the phone doesn't ring, or you might play some music and the speaker is silent. This usually clears up after stopping and starting the music again, or if you get a second phone call it will ring.
Recently; within the past week, my Maxx is intermittently loosing sound from the external speaker. I've tried rebooting, reinstalling the OS, etc... so I took to the internet: [URL]. Pressing on the kevlar cover works for a brief time; but when I am missing calls or notifications, its a little late to be pressing on the back cover to make the speaker connection. I dropped my phone when I first got it (March '12) so the warranty center is going to claim physical damage and charge me full retail for the phone. I can't go for much longer with a phone that doesn't ring.
Frequently when I am using my bluetooth (I use more than one Motorola BT Oasis and Motorola H710) and when I end the call the Razr does not drop the call until I wake the Razr up.
I had problems in playing MKV videos and also I have seen in the android market that many of our Moto users have said that our stock players doesnt give audio for HD MKV files. Give a try to the latest MX Player, its plays everything people!
