I was given an iphone4 and want to run the initial setup on the phone ( it has been wiped but the setup program does not start when the phone is turned on).The instructions said to follow the prompts but the phone just opens.
When i get to the wifi setup screen (no wifi available) it wont let me continue with setup without selecting a wifi network...there isnt one around so cannot continue with the setup, is there no way around this ?
I have a new-to-me device, after my original Curve 8530 had to be sent back to the carrier. I restored old settings from a backup re Desktop Manager, but now there are messaging problems. One, my setup folder doesn't have an e-mail setup option. Two, in "Email Reconciliation" option, only chloice I have is to change the e-mail account on "Message Services" drop-down. Related to that, if I'm in "messages," my Options screen lacks "Reconcile Now."
I bought my first BlackBerry (Curve 3G 9300) on Friday and tried to setup a personal email account on the phone via the setup wizard earlier today. The phone said that an update to 6.11...... was needed in order to do this. I let it update, now the phone is just hanging after starting up. If I do a start up after removing the battery it comes up with a black screen with the BlackBerry logo and a progress bar below it. The progress bar moves along until the end, this takes around a minute. It then shows something like a little clock over the logo for about a second. Once this disappears the phone says with the logo and the completed progress bar - and just hangs there.
i can not find the setup wizard or setup for that matter. the folder that should have setup reads "extras" and inside reads calculator and currency converter.
I recently re-activated my old Storm for my wife (her first smartphone). After reactivation, I tried to set up email so she could check her Hotmail, but the setup wizard only shows one option - enterprise email through Exchange. I know when I use to use the Storm myself, I had both Hotmail and a POP email account set up with no problems. Is this a device issue or a carrier issue? I had Bell activate the Storm on a minimal (200MB) BlackBerry data plan and the phone seems to work fine (as a phone, at least!)
After changing network I had to re register my new sim for the blackberry service for my email. When i entered the email set up program it prompted me to update from 6.10.1119.1125 to 6.11.0324.1701. After this i rebooted the device and tried to setup my email. When I enter the email setup program it "hangs" on "checking for updates" or sometimes "checking settings" . It will not go past this screen and I am unable to set up my email. I have contacted Three Uk customer service and they have no resolve. Can you help as I cannot use the email service on my blackberry. I have also tried to setup on the website but it says I must setup on my device for the 9800 phone.
I'm looking for a good VPN service that will be easy to use and setup on my iPhone 5 and other computers (i.e. Macbook Pro). how to setup the VPN on the iPhone. so I can use the public WiFi in my hotel room. Â
I have set up iCloud on my iMac and on my iPhone 4s. I can send an email from my iPhone to see on my iMac but not the other way around. If I am to recieve an email from a friend I want it to appear on my iPhone, and all my mac devices, thats the whole point of iCloud.
I'm going to the U.S. in June and I'll buy an iPhone 4S. I'm not going to bring a SIM card with me cause I'll not make any phone calls, I only to take pictures and shoot some video. But lately, a question is on my mind... Can I do the iOS 5 setup w/o a SIM card and still be able to use all of it's functions except the phone related?
I would like to use a third party app to create a vpn that utilizes my mac mini running Lion and allows ios devices like an iphone to connect to the vpn using the native applications on the iphone ipad etc. Any thoughts? I already tried LogMeIn and it allowed remote log-in to my mac nicely actually but the tech support assures me I cannot use the app for a vpn that would allow native software use on ios devices.
Info: Mac mini (Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4), iphone 4, ipad 2
I have an older Airport Extreme 802.11n, and have been quite happy with it. I just purchased an iPhone 5C, (refurbed from AT&T) and I've noticed I get poor WiFi reception on the porch. This is only about 38 feet away from the base station, although it is on the other side of the aluminum screen door. I still show two out of three bars, but web pages are very laggy compared to being in the same room as the router, and sometimes refuse to load.   My 2011 MBP doesn't have nearly as many problems.Â
I assume part of this is simply the fact that there's a much smaller antenna in my iPhone compared to a 17" MBP, but I'm wondering if I should be looking at the settings of my Airport; perhaps a better setup would work with the reception on my 5C.Â
I can't remember how or why I arrived at the settings I have now - it's been a while since I touched things. Â
Right now, under the "radio mode" drop down in the Airport Utility, (6.3.1) it's shows "802.11n only - (5Ghz) - 802.11b/g/n" with the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz channels set to "automatic".  The drop-downs are a little confusing, as I assume the Airport is still broadcasting in the 2.4GHz spectrum, as my first gen (2006, Core Duo) MacBook could still connect, and I don't believe it has a 5Ghz connection. Â
I want to add another gmail account but I want to keep them seperate. What is the best way to add it.the currrent gmail account I use is setup through the iphone mail that came witht he phone.
We are going to be a two iPhone house setup for the first time and had a few questions:
1) Do you use the same iTunes account on both phones? Obviously if I purchase an app I would like my wife to not have to purchase it as well. 2) Do you have to use the same MobileMe account on both phones or can can you just specify a different @me.com email address? 3) Do you get any conflicts with apps showing up on both phones? For example, if I download an app on my iPhone, will is sync to my wife's iPhone if we are on the same iTunes account?
I switched over from my blackberry bold 9700 to the iPhone 4 and as much as I love it, I can't stand being without my push e-mail. I have my g-mail setup to push my e-mail which works pretty well, but with my bold 9700 I was using BIS and I was able to get all of my 5 different e-mails pushed to my phone. Is there a service or something I have to sign up for that will instantly push my e-mail to my phone? Right now I set it up so my other e-mail accounts are retrieved by my g-mail account but it takes a while for the g-mail to retrieve the e-mails from my other accounts using POP3 and then it finally pushes them to my phone.
I'm an ASU student so my email ends in @asu.edu. However its a Gmail account and I just got a new iPhone and I would really like to set it up through the mail app but it won't let me. Every time I type my email and password in the phone says: "The user name or password for [URL] is incorrect"...but I know it isn't.
recently moved to IT department in my company and part of our job is to support iPhones used by top level executives only. I have been an iPhone user for a long time but don't have much experience with setting up business email etc on it, need to know where can I find information on setting up email etc on iPhone. Also, is it true that if a direct connection is setup to access emails, it is unsecure and there is no way to have a secure connection without using 'Good'. I use a Macbook but also have a Windows PC at home.
I setup my Gmail using the Gmail when in the "Add Acount.." screen and it does not push emails to my iPhone. Is there a way to setup Gmail so that it will push the email to my device as soon as an email arrived in my Gmail account?
