Aug 25, 2010I've purchased a Softbank Japanese iPhone 3GS 16GB off eBay and I thought it was unlocked by when I just re-read the message from the seller I received it said not unlocked.I read what I wanted to read though and read unlocked.So.I was just wondering, is there any possibility that I'll be able to get my iPhone working in Australia under Vodafone? Ever? I'm willing to do anything atm.

Jun 11, 2010I know this is probably vague since the new iPhone hasn't been released yet, but I would like to buy the iPhone 4 at its release, from AT&T without the contract ($599/$699), because I move to Germany a few weeks later. As far as I know it is still locked to AT&T then. Could you use it with a German sim card. How do I activate or can I avoid an activation and how can I use it in Germany? Do I need to wait for an unlock? I don't want to buy it in Germany because it is far more expensive and I don't want to use it with the standard-iPhone carrier.

Jun 17, 2012Both my mom and i have an iPhone 4. before we were on the same iCloud account but yesterday my mom made her own. So she can backup her phone to the iCloud. Also yesterday i got a replacement iPhone 4 because my lock button had broke. Everything on my phone is the same they used the iCloud to back everything up. However i want to backup my phone to iCloud but on my phone under the backup and storage, i have 3 phones therefore theres not enough space to backup my phone. I have my first iphone 4, my moms, and my new iphone 4. i already deleted my moms backup but there isnt enough room still. Is there a way i could merge my old phone and my new phones' backups? and what would happen if i deleted my old phones backup? i dont want to lose anything!

Sep 7, 2010My mom gave me her iPhone 4 to use as a touch after she deactivated her sim. I did a clean restore because there was an issue with the battery life. I cannot send SMS so is there any legit way to activate Facetime?

May 25, 2010So since the iPhone 4 will have a Micro SIM, how will I get my info and stuff off of my current SIM card and put it onto the Micro SIM? I am most likely going to order and have the iPhone 4 shipped to my Apple Store so I can pick it up first thing in the morning. Will the Apple Store be able to transfer the cards, or will I have to go to the ATT store later and have them do it? Also, think ATT would charge me anything for doing it? Thanks Guys.

Jun 10, 2010So, my family decided to all upgrade to the new iPhone. The three of us would all be getting the 16GB, so about $600 for the phones, and then an activation fee (another $100 added to that). Seems like a lot, especially since I noticed that the Online Store would allow us to go without the Activation Fee about two weeks ago...
Also, how would we go about doing this? With the new restriction of only one iPhone per customer, and only one per household, how are we to do this? If all three of us went together, would we be able to get all three iPhones? Would going to an Apple Store help? And if so, is there a way to waive the Activation Fee there? If this can be done without physically going to the store, please let me know. (Older folks don't want to get up and wait just for a phone, but they don't get us Apple folk .)

Aug 18, 2010I thought I would share my experience of trying to get my activation fee waived.Well it took me 3 calls to ATT but I finally got my fee waived as a one time courtesy. My first two calls ended in failure. I was polite yet stern with both reps and told them I think its absurd to charge $36 activation fee on a phone that I activated myself and that I think paying $2000 over two year contract is worthy for them to waive this bogus $36 charge. Both reps talked to supervisors but told me there was no way they could remove the fee because it is a legitimate charge due to a deal they have with apple. They said if it was any other phone but the Iphone they could do it.
At this point i didnt think it was possible to get it waived but I decided to call one more time and try. This time a guy picked up and I asked him if there was anyway they could waive the activation fee. He didnt need to speak to any supervisor and just straight up told me that he understands my complaint and will remove the fee as a one time courtesy. It was so simple and yet it saved me $42 on my first bill. HUGE!So if anyone is having problems trying to get there activation fee waived I suggest to keep calling back until you get a decent rep. SO yeah be persistent and it could save you some money.

May 27, 2012today i was trying to update my iPhone 4S from iOS 5.0to 5.1.1. No problems restoring it, but when i try to activate it,the process fails every time. It seems that Apple Activation servers are down?Im a computer enthusiast and have already checked my home network for issues that can block access to apple servers, also checked from another network and machines, but still no luck. Tried to activate using WiFi on my iPhone, 3G network, and even Connect to iTunes on my PC. I noticed that apple activation server is gs.apple.com. Pinging it from any source on my network just generates timeouts, and even tried to ping it from online pages that provide ping service (ping.eu), but it generates timeouts too.Non modified iPhone 4S - black

I still show "no service" and the business activations line tells me my business is important to them and then it hangs up on me. But when I try to activate, it says "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. I recently tried to jailbreak my iPhone 3GS baseband 5.16.05 with iPad baseband 6.15.00 using sn0wbreeze ISPW, I did a shift+restore on iTunes and the iPhone got stuck on a restoring screen (with the little bar.) I did a force reset and then the iPhone went into recovery mode I restored with iTunes (and no other software) but after I was done restoring it wouldn't activate because it said the Activation Server was busy. It's been "busy" all day and prior to the unlock I was able to activate and use the non-cellular features of the phone with my friend's old expired AT&T sim card (it would say "No Service" at the top),but now neither that, the Tmobile SIM I want to use or no sim is recognized. I tried DFU mode and it doesn't work either. Have I officially broken the phone? Is there a way that I can use my favorite phone with safari and the camera and everything else again and hopefully on TMOBILE prepaid?

I keep getting "waiting for activation" on my iMessage. I can only send/receive iMessage from my email address, NOT my phone number.
And I'm not sure if this is connected or not, but under setting > phone > show my caller ID, the ON button is greyed out.
A little history & weird problems I encountered:
My iPhone 4S was stolen about a month ago (I'm still ****** about it).I did a remote wipe on it and I figured the person who stole is has thrown away the SIM card because the number isn't active anymore.
So I just bought a brand new iPhone 4S and a new number again. I synced it to iTunes and upgraded it to iOS 5.1 then I did a restore from my old back up. Everything was fine except for the iMessage. It shows "waiting for actvation". When I tap under Receive At, the email address is listed as well as my OLD phone number (the one that was stolen). It was greyed out and the status was "verying" which later turned to "error". I have no way of editing or removing that old number. When I connect my iPhone to iTunes, the phone # was shown as n/a on iTunes, but after 30 mins or so, it will appear.
So I did a restore again and this time set is as a new iPhone. The old phone number is now gone, but only my email address is listed. I can't input my phone number there.
I have done all kind of fixing suggestions that I can find online, but nothing works so far.
- Date & time set as automatic (I don't know why this matter, but mine was already set as automatic from the begining)
- Reset network setting
- Changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8.
- Restore to factory setting (from back up & as new iPhone)
- Turning on/off iMessage & facetime
- Sign out/in of apple ID
- Change location from apple ID
- Hard reset/reboot
And many others.
Is this an error on my iPhone or maybe the iOS or is it the carrier?
Any input is greatly appreciated!
