Xperia Ray :: WiFi Connectivity - Network Out Of Range
Jun 12, 2012
Out of the blue my phone is not connetcting to my office wifi. It keeps showing that the network is out of range even when my ipod and all of my colleagues are able to get a clear and strong connection. I had updated my phone to ICS a few days back. Could it be because of this?
i am now living in singapore and i need to tell you that i cannot connect to the wifi network although my uncle's nokia n96 can or even my psp. i am using my home wireless network. and sometimes when the wifi is connected the Internet page does not open. but my internet page opens.
Unfortunatley I have just had to pick up a replacement Z3.
With this one, I am having issues with the WIFI range. Where with my old one I could get WIFI in the garden (Router is in the living room on the first floor) and at work I sit the furthest away from the router, but again on my old Z3 I had no issues. This new one, as soon as I leave the living room the signal drops and disconnects, and at work the WIFI only connects as I walk past the router.
Well a quick look at the volume on the Google forums shows this is not just my problem and it seems to be common to all Android phones. After moving out of range, the WiFi will not reconnect when back in range, i.e. moving between 2 locations that are remembered just shows the WiFi scanning then disconnecting all the time. Turning WiFi on and off causes it to request an IP address and then all is fine.I held off complaining about this until after the 2.1 update which I did yesterday, but no change.
In the interim I have installed a WiFi toggle app which does the job but this is such a fundamental issue it should have been 100% bulletproof from day one. After all probably 99.99% of all users are connecting via WiFi? and its the reason a smartphone is purchased. my daughters iPhone moves seamlessly between routers so its an Android problem.
Why my xperia play having a difficulty connecting to a Wifi? while my brother's phone which is a Nokia phone can easily connected, we try to connect to the same wifi connection but my xperia play can't connect it says that "Not in range" even though I'm sitting next to my brother and his phone was connected.
Although the network bar shows full connectivity. My SE Xperia Neo V notification bar says no service due to which I'm not able to make/receive calls. My phone had fallen in water so got it repaired by authorized service center. They changed all the parts but still I'm getting this problem.
I am just sitting on my office desk, 2 meters from the router all day. But the phone keeps connecting to mobile data and just takes 5 kb of data for 20 -30 times a day. I fiddled with automatic background data settings, with no success.
I've just got the Z5 and have noticed that when I out of wifi range and then move back into coverage in at home it does not alway connect and either stays with no data or stays of mobile data it that was on. Even get this at work with wireless there. My previous phone the Samsung s4 and even my rubbish works windows phone all work perfect moving between.
I had updated my phone earlier then after it finished updating i then connect to a WiFi then while im browsing/ using internet application it always failed.
My phone stopped working randomly a couple of days ago. I cant send or receive texts or calls. In the corner where the signal is, changed from edge/GPRS to GMS now it's just constantly on SOS. I've tried going into mobile network options and switching network and then switching back and it's saying that my mobile network is out of range? I've also tried doing a battery pull and doing a security wipe which just deleted all my contacts I've been in contact with my mobile network and they told me try the SIM in another phone, and that worked so it's definitely a problem with the phone rather than the network.
It keeps saying that it's out of range when I'm right next to it. I have to restart my phone in order for it to see it's in range. Not only mine but the one I use at work and Starbucks.
Whenever I leave WiFi range, BIS completely cuts out until I turn off and back on the mobile network. How do I fix this issue? It's incredibly annoying. I shouldn't have to turn off WiFi before I leave the house, the phone should just know to switch to mobile data if there's no connection on WiFi.
i have iPhone 4, iOS 5.1, Modem Firmware 04.12.01 and im facing an issue on Wifi zone. its only working within the 3 Meter Zone of Wifi. i tried it on many differetn Wifi Routers (including Cisco Aironet, Linksys, Juniper Wifi) but its didnt work outside 2-3 meters.
Recently, in the past couple of days, my iPhone 5 will not connect to my airport extreme to my home network unless it is within 15 feet of the router. This is an extremely short range. My parents' and sister's iPod touch and iPhones work perfectly fine. They have the same range as they always have. What is wrong with my device? I have tried resetting my modem and airport in multiple different orders. I hard reset my iPhone. I powered it off, then back on. Turned wifi off and on
Ever since getting my sg2, I have always had a problem with the 3g. My phone when it connects proceeds only to upload, showing only the green arrow pointing up. This happens randomly, and it happens across all the different platforms of network connection the sg2 has. The issue is incredibly annoying as my phone can't download data, meaning I cant access the internet. The issue when it happens does seem to correct itself after sometime and with me fiddling around with it, but I am yet to find a permanent solution to fix the problem. My friend recommended I turn of data and turn it back on, which does work but is very hit and miss, and the issue can still very much be present when I turn data back on. The only solution which seems to work 100% of the time is turning the phone off and on again, however this is pointlessly annoying and quite a nuisance.
When I leave the house and come back it doesn't automatically connect to WiFi.I've changed the 2.4 and 5ghz to manual with no joy, its back to auto now.
I got my N900 monday together with a new O2 sim card. It worked fine on monday and tuesday, but since yesterday, the connectivity to the O2 network is down. When I start up the phone, it asks for the PIN; so it seems that the sim card is recognized. But it does not connect to the network! The provider name does not appear next to the status bar, and there is no connectivity indicator on the status bar. Offline mode is disabled, of course.
Text messages cannot be send; when I try to call someone, I get an error (translated from german: "network not available" or similar). The strange thing is that sometimes I can reach the network for very short time. I then get missed test messages, but that's it. The connection lasts for not more than 2-3 minutes, I guess. I tried another sim card, and this one did not work, too. The sim card was placed properly into the slot. Is there anything I can do, or may this be a well-known firmware bug?
I switched to Cricket from Virgin Mobile so I could go back to Windows with the 1320. In my 1st month with them I went over my 2.5 GB of data with about a week left in the month. In five years with VM I can count on one hand the times I went over 1.5 GB with them. Checking my data usage on Cricket's website I see 1-3 entries per day detailing my usage, some with very large amounts of data. Cricket CS tells me that my device uses their network first and Wi-Fi 2nd.
So in other words when I'm at home and connected to my home wi-fi the device will use Cricket's data even though it's connected to my Wifi. To fix this they told me I have to manually disable data from their network when I don't want to use it. Now this makes no sense to me since the 3 Android phones I've had did not do this once I connected to Wi-Fi the carrier's data was disabled. I think there must be a setting on the phone that must wrong that is keeping this from happening other that what Cricket CS told me. The way they explained it to me Wi-fi is useless because their data would be used regardless if it's connect or not.
I had an M8 and switched over to the M9 due to my camera sensor constantly buzzing not able to focus. The Wi-Fi range on my M9 isn't as strong as the M8. I was able to get on the internet and used internet-based apps with my previous phone while in bed but I can't with the new one.
With all of my previous Android devices, I could go into my wifi setting and get to a list of ALL saved networks, even if they are out of range. From there I could tell the device to forget old/random networks that I don't plan to connect to regularly (e.g. coffee shops, doctor's offices, etc). I haven't been able to find that ability on my Galaxy S6.
When I go to wifi settings, I get a list of all networks in range, and I can tap (or long press) and forget those. But I can't find anyway to get to a list of saved networks that are out of range.
how to on pearl 9105 deselect 3G option to put it inactive while resuming connectivity with current network? Sometimes, due to battery power and connecting to a Wifi network for a better internet besides to couple reasons...
I use wifi at home without a problem, at work it tries to connect to the router but it disconnects and tries again in a continuous loop. When somebody with an iphone or ipod wants to join there is no problem so the router works.i reset the router and restarted the phone as well. and it's on dynamic IP. the channel is set to auto, right now it's at 1
I wasn't getting any traction on this when I posted it on the sticky bug defect page so I figured I would try a new thread.
I have had my 950 for about a month and a half and I really like it except for the issue I am having with WiFi. When it connects it gives me message that there is No Internet Access. And if I try something like web browsing I get an error because the phone is trying to use the WiFi connection instead of the Cell connection. This happens in multiple locations. I have this issue about 90% of the time and rebooting the phone fixes the issue about half the time.
I just received my Nexus 6p last night. It connected and ran just fine on my home network. I get to school this morning and I can not connect to the school wifi which uses 802.1x MSCHAPv2 authentication. My Computer and my friend's Note 4 next to me can connect with out issue.
I just tried to connect to our guest Wifi with the same problem. Instead of using MSCHAPv2 Auth, the guest WiFi uses a captive portal. I still can not obtain an IP address from either. It looks like it might be an incompatibility with the access point itself? This is really weird as 1 / 2 of the networks I have tried to connect to succeeded and one was a Asus router (my home). The access points I am having trouble with are Aerohive from what I read on them. I do not know what the controller specs are.
I'm using Xperia mini Pro. Android 2.1. I see my wifi scanning but it never finds a network. Also the battery is been used by wifi. But I cannot find any network.
