IPhone 5 :: WiFi Range Is Suddenly Extreme Low

Aug 27, 2014

Recently, in the past couple of days, my iPhone 5 will not connect to my airport extreme to my home network unless it is within 15 feet of the router. This is an extremely short range. My parents' and sister's iPod touch and iPhones work perfectly fine. They have the same range as they always have. What is wrong with my device? I have tried resetting my modem and airport in multiple different orders. I hard reset my iPhone. I powered it off, then back on. Turned wifi off and on

Xperia Z3 :: WiFi Range Limited

May 27, 2015

Unfortunatley I have just had to pick up a replacement Z3.

With this one, I am having issues with the WIFI range.  Where with my old one I could get WIFI in the garden (Router is in the living room on the first floor) and at work I sit the furthest away from the router, but again on my old Z3 I had no issues.  This new one, as soon as I leave the living room the signal drops and disconnects, and at work the WIFI only connects as I walk past the router.

I've been having problems with WiFi .

It keeps saying that it's out of range when I'm right next to it. I have to restart my phone in order for it to see it's in range. Not only mine but the one I use at work and Starbucks.

Hope it's not the new update 4.4.3

Xperia X8 :: WiFi Will Not Reconnect After Out Of Range?

Nov 4, 2010

Well a quick look at the volume on the Google forums shows this is not just my problem and it seems to be common to all Android phones. After moving out of range, the WiFi will not reconnect when back in range, i.e. moving between 2 locations that are remembered just shows the WiFi scanning then disconnecting all the time. Turning WiFi on and off causes it to request an IP address and then all is fine.I held off complaining about this until after the 2.1 update which I did yesterday, but no change.

In the interim I have installed a WiFi toggle app which does the job but this is such a fundamental issue it should have been 100% bulletproof from day one. After all probably 99.99% of all users are connecting via WiFi? and its the reason a smartphone is purchased. my daughters iPhone moves seamlessly between routers so its an Android problem.

Lumia 1320 :: How To Get WiFi To Override Data When In Range Of Wireless Connections

Oct 3, 2014

I switched to Cricket from Virgin Mobile so I could go back to Windows with the 1320. In my 1st month with them I went over my 2.5 GB of data with about a week left in the month. In five years with VM I can count on one hand the times I went over 1.5 GB with them. Checking my data usage on Cricket's website I see 1-3 entries per day detailing my usage, some with very large amounts of data. Cricket CS tells me that my device uses their network first and Wi-Fi 2nd.

So in other words when I'm at home and connected to my home wi-fi the device will use Cricket's data even though it's connected to my Wifi. To fix this they told me I have to manually disable data from their network when I don't want to use it. Now this makes no sense to me since the 3 Android phones I've had did not do this once I connected to Wi-Fi the carrier's data was disabled. I think there must be a setting on the phone that must wrong that is keeping this from happening other that what Cricket CS told me. The way they explained it to me Wi-fi is useless because their data would be used regardless if it's connect or not.

Galaxy S6 :: Forget Saved WiFi Networks When They Are Out Of Range On Samsung Devices?

Oct 19, 2015

With all of my previous Android devices, I could go into my wifi setting and get to a list of ALL saved networks, even if they are out of range. From there I could tell the device to forget old/random networks that I don't plan to connect to regularly (e.g. coffee shops, doctor's offices, etc). I haven't been able to find that ability on my Galaxy S6.

When I go to wifi settings, I get a list of all networks in range, and I can tap (or long press) and forget those. But I can't find anyway to get to a list of saved networks that are out of range.

IPhone :: Battery Meter Misleading

Apr 6, 2010

Sorry if this has been addressed already; I did a quick search and didn’t find an answer to my problem. Feel free to point me to the relevant thread if I missed it.We have two iPhones, and both are now experiencing the same problem. The battery meter shows that the battery is fully charged, but then all of a sudden the phone complains that it’s out of charge and dies. While the battery doesn’t last quite as long as it used to, it still seems to last a couple of days (for my normal usage) between charges. It just doesn’t give notice that the charge is going down, which is a problem if we’re not paying attention.

Is anyone else having this problem? Both our phones are doing the same thing now. Any fixes? Is this a sign that our batteries are dying?

IPhone :: 4S Battery Meter Stuck On 100%

Apr 30, 2012

In the past few days I've noticed my battery has been on 100% alot lately. I was thinking that I just have a great battery until it started dying for no reason. I thought I had a full charge. Now I realize that even though the meter says 100%, I really don't know how much battery life I have left. I have drained the battery and then recharged fully, rebooted, and it didn't seem to change anything. When draining the battery, I noticed that when it went into the shutdown process, A quick look at the battey meter showed that it said it was at 1% before it shut down. The battery life is fine I think. It will go for a long time before dying but it never leaves 100%.

IPhone :: Battery Meter On 3GS Is Low After Booting Up But Then Adjusts?

May 12, 2010

Just wondering if anyone else notices that when they first turn on (power up) their 3GS the battery meter reads really low, like below 20% sometimes, but then after 5 seconds or so will correct and read what it actually is, i.e. 50%.I thought this may be due to jailbreaking but after restoring it still happens. It will even occur first thing in the morning after I have just fully charged my phone but the discrepancy between the initial read and the actual read seems to grow throughout the day. For instance this morning the difference was only 6% where as right now it is 22% (shows 28% then goes to 50%).

I am going to run the phone until it dies today and then try fully charging it to see if that solves it. Any other suggestions/recommendations are welcome.

HTC One M8 :: Battery Meter Stuck After Using Moto Turbo Charger

Oct 27, 2014

Used the new Moto Turbo Charger (Quick Charge 2.0) charger with success on my M8 when it was Sense. Now I've converted it to a GPE edition, and 2 of the 3 times I've used the charger since, the battery meter becomes stuck during/after the charge. Once at 64%, once at 80%. Restarting the phone gets it working again.

So I'm thinking the battery has become uncalibrated? Would draining it to 0%, then charging it non stop to 100% be away to fix this? One site said wipe the cache partition and Dalvik cache. Another suggested something with both volume keys that wipes the battery memory.

LG :: VX4400 Battery Meter Keeps Changing Its Bars Back And Forth

Mar 7, 2010

This question may apply to lithium cell phone batteries in general, or at least to more than one phone.I just got a used VX4400 with two batteries. One of them goes dead very quickly, then recharges very quickly, then goes dead again very quickly, so I think I can assume it's toast, unless someone has some advanced tricks for reconditioning it.

The other battery shows some life, but after a few minutes of calling after a full recharge, the number of bars quickly goes down to one. But then if I leave it idle for a while, it goes back up to 3 bars. I've tried this a few times without recharging, and it keep bouncing between one and three bars.Is there a way to recalibrate the battery meter, or is this a sign that the battery is bad? Or does this phone just have a funky battery meter?
