Galaxy S6 :: Prevent Certain Apps From Using Mobile Data
Jan 7, 2016I was previously an iPhone 5s user and just got my s6 not long ago. On my iPhone, there is a toggle where I can prevent certain apps from using ANY data at all, not just background data. Meaning if I were to switch that on for Facebook, when I open the Facebook app, and I'm not on wifi, it wouldn't be able to load anything at all.
I understand there's the restrict background data feature on the s6, I tested it and it will only restrict data when I'm not using the app. But if I were to open the app it will still use data. For example I would like to turn off data for my manga app, as I usually download the manga at home using wifi. But now everything I open the manga app it will use my data to download some images on the manga app.
Is there anyway I can completely prevent an app from using any Mobile data? It should prevent the app from using data even when it is open.

Dec 29, 2015Just bought the device and I'm not sure because of teh missing SD card, how to handle my "best practises" for Samsung devices. Originally I stored music, videos, Whatsapp media, Titanium backups and so on on my external memory card. But this option is now gone. Is there any way to create a new partition as external sd card wich is recognized by apps and is not affected by hard resets (which is mostly necessary for custom rom updates) ? I don't want to get in a copy nightmare for every ROM update which requires a full wipe. Is tehre any solution? I can't be the only one who is thinking about this issue.

Jul 9, 2012my phone came with a lot of unwanted junk installed on it. The Facebook app is one of them. I can check Facebook on my browser when I want to. I don't want it to connect all the time. To my amazement I can't control the app at all. Even with everything turned off it uses about 100MB in the background a week, escpecially since the last update of the app! It starts up automatically every so many minutes. My datalimit is 400MB a month. This way the software pushed by Sony is creating large phonebills. That can't be right! The only way to remove that stuff is to root my phone, that's ridicilous! To pre-install software...ok...but I should be able to control what to do with that software, remove it, disable it and stop it from using up my data! I've informed some consumer agencies about this so I'll see what they have to say. This doesn't seem legal to me since I wasn't informed that I can't remove the apps and that they use data without your permission.

Sep 30, 2012i bought the xperia mini pro a couple of days ago...i have been impressed with its features and functions and it really looks a real deal....i havent been disappointed by any of its feature...but today when i tried to acces andriod market i am unable to create a new google account therefore cant go through andriod market.as it says "can,t establish a reliable data connection....."i have been searching tirelessly on internet on this issue and have found that it is very common one....so i tried the following things but it didnt come up with the required result 1.i checked the "background data raffic" in accounts and sync.2.i tried to reset my phone wihout the sim card but nothing helped....now i cant try that Internet account trick as "Internet" is banned in my country due to some religious issues...the thing left to do is a "hard reset" i havent done that in any of my phones but i think i have to do it now...fortunately there is almost nothing that i have saved in this phone...i did take a couple of photos today but its not that important.....is it worth to "hard reset" my phone? as i havent done it ever since...would it be safe to do and not remove my stuff saved in my memory card?..as i dont want to lose my music and other stuff saved in the memory card....

They did warn that this might cause loss of data and so I should back-up the data on the phone first. When I asked them how I do this no-one bothered to reply.
