In the older versions the data enabled/disabled icon disappeared every time I cleaned the notifications on the status bar, but after updating to ICS it's stuck. Only changes from enbled to disabled, and touching on it opens the settings, but there aren't any options to turn it off or hide it. Or I'm missing the option somewhere?

I bought a Z5 the other day and I haven't tried NFC until I got me a scr42 style cover for it. I noticed the smart window function doesn't work and realised that the phone doesn't display the NFC icon in the status bar. I've tried activating NFC from both the pull-down menu and the settings and in both the option lights up as if it were enabled, but the icon does not appear and the phone doesn't react to the tag on the cover.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got the international Z5c, model E5823, which supports both tmo us LTE bands in my area (bands 2 and 12). When I have preferred network type set to 3G, I get more bars and have data connectivity. When I switch it to 4G, the bars go down to 1 or 2, and I get no data.
I did a logcat while switching from 3G to 4G and noticed that while switching, the icon switches between H+ and H, then eventually drops out. I'm still trying to see if there is anything useful in the logcat, but the one thing I noticed that seemed interesting was D/StatusBar.NetworkController( 2598): updateIconSet, voice network type is: 13/LTE, data network type is: 13/LTETo me, this looks like I might be seeing issues with some failed attempt to use voice over lte (as this phone supports it).
used to be on 2.3.4 if I turn off backround data some applications can't work such as market,gmail,gtalk...etc. it's good for battery and performance of phone it be come more battery friendly
now on ICS backround Data always Enabled even disabled from switch on menu but all services still works on play(market),gtalk,gmail...etc if backround data enable/disable switch menu is useless on android4 why still there
4.0.3 and 4.0.4 roms are infected clean install or repair system doesn't work on that
I've had the sony ericsson xperia play for a while, with not problems, however for the last weeks or so it has been us randomly restarting throughout the day.
this only happens when I have enabled the data under "mobile networks". I have not got any battery savers/app killers etc. Ive only got the stock apps that came with the phone and a couple of games like fifa 12
The only icon that I can see is 4G in my XPERIA Z3. If I choose 3G or 2G network there is no icon on the status bar (only signal strength without type of network icon)....

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to check the SIM lock status on my phone, but I'm having problems. When I try to do this I ensure the phone's keyboard is locked i.e. the screen is lit and the slider with a lock on the left and the speaker on the right is on. I have wallpaper on the home screen and the clock is displayed. I have tried this with the screen unlit, I have tried this in safe mode, I have tried this with the old sim in, with the new sim in, I have tried this in safe mode - everything. If the power lock button is touched it locks and the screen darkens, hit it again the screen lights no problem. However it does power down again very quickly if no buttons are touched tried to set this for the longest time possible - makes no difference. At present I'm running Android 2.1. which I upgraded to last month.

Sometimes when I activate my phone, there is no wifi icon at the top on the status bar, then after a few minutes it appears. Since I use Facebook App for Android on my Xperia Pro for posting status message, I never see that Xperia Brand appears on status message indicator on the bottom of the status, e.g. 1 minute ago via Xperia. Whereas, other Xperia smartphones such as Arc, Mini Pro, etc, no problem was found (the brand appears).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have noticed an issue with the Galaxy S5 that apparently only occurs with the Verizon variant. I work for a place called Wireless Advocates, we are the cell phone kiosk inside of Costco. I'm asking about this because I've had three customers come in to ask about this background data issue.
I'm not sure what triggers this issue but when I try opening up google play I get the "Background Data Disabled : Google Play Store Needs background data to be Enabled" error. It then gives you the ability to either quit or enable the data. If you press enable it takes you to the account screen in settings.
When I go to Data usage the option to "restrict background data" is greyed out. You can't even select it and it isn't checkmarked either. Just to clarify, accessing the internet and other things on the phone work perfectly fine. It's just the use of Google Play that is having issues. I called Samsung customer care and they aren't aware of this issue at all. Also note that force stopping google play, play services, removing the google accounts and adding them back and rebooting the phone haven't solved it. After the reboot the phone will appear fine and then a box that says "Restricting background data".
My Encryption is enabled and it has a locked icon on it. i cannot change or do anything to it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I call someone and I'm in a private environment, I like to hit the top left loudspeaker icon at once so that I can do other stuff with both my hands until the other end answers. But with the Sony Ericsson Xperia, the loudspeaker icon doesn't appear until the conversation has started.
Which means first that I have to hold the phone next to my ear until the other end answers, and second that the screen has gone black, and if I still want to use the loudspeaker I have to tilt it or press a button or something (which always feels like it takes forever) to wake it up so that I can access the loudspeaker icon.
Can you make the loudspeaker icon appear at once the phone number has been called, instead of, wait for connection, wait while ringing. Btw, can you also make the phone wake up faster while during a conversation. I have a small problem with it going black when I am calling centers with automated answering where I need access to the numbers to enter selections in the automated menu.
