Jun 17, 2010Alright, first of all I know everyone is getting sick and tired of the iphone related threads popping up over here. But I have no other choice but to start one — hoping someone will be able to offer me a solution to my problem.
Here's the deal. My wife has the unlimited data plan, since she signed up with Att last year. Currently she has a iPhone 3GS and sees no need to upgrade to the new version.
I on the other hand had been using a paygo T-mobile plan (had been waiting for the iPhone).
Now the thing is she doesn't really use her data and I most definitely could with my shiny new phone (hopefully arriving on June 24th), but am unable to as I don't already have a contract with them.
I know people would suggest to switch the sims when I get the phone, but that's a no-go as the Misses is very attached to her number and does not want to change it (under no condition whatsoever)
So what I need all you guys to tell me is a way to get her number switched over to my contract so I can give her my sim (I'm aware of the sim differences in the two phones and will sort that out.
So any clue how to do this?
I was thinking of porting over her number to a different carrier and then porting it back to a new line on att (though this would mean I lose my preorder).
Though I don't know if I can port over her current ATT number and still maintain the contract. Does ATT allow that. And how difficult do you guys think it would be to port it back to a new connection on ATT.
Also, her number is originally from Wisconsin and now we live in Chicago.
Is there an easier solution?
Why can't ATT just switch the numbers on the contracts?

May 21, 2012I used to have multiple iTunes libraries that I eventually condensed into one, and I somehow cross-synced my iPhone and now it won't sync with any of them. (I get the "this iPhone is synced to another library, would you like to erare the contents and sync with this library" message.) I've tried the trick of copy/pasting the Persistent Library ID, but that doesn't seem to work (unless I'm doing it wrong). I'm A-OK with wiping all the music from the iPhone and loading it all again (if anything I'd prefer to do that now that I've unified my music libraries into one) and all of my contact and calendar items are properly synced with my main laptop. What I'm worried about are the other things on the iPhone (apps, photos, notes, recorded memos, etc.). Especially the apps. If I let iTunes wipe the phone to sync with my new library, will I retain those other items? Or will it wipe everything and I'll lose any apps that I've bought, photos stored on the phone, notes, etc.?

Jun 16, 2010After using some sort of removable-for-use case (a leather flip case and a sleeve) for the first two iPhones, I went with a plastic hard case, the Seidio Inncase II, for my iPhone 3GS. I took that case off tonight for the first time in my iPhone 3GS's lifetime and was reminded why I never liked hard cases. The iPhone 3GS looks much nicer without a plastic case, though I liked the peace of mind that a plastic case offers.
Since my iPhone 3GS will be going up on eBay and likely kept with myself until mid-July when I buy my iPhone 4 (I was going to preorder it this week...), I'd like to retain the way my iPhone 3GS looks like new, aside from a hairline scratch or two. I'm OCD with my devices (only setting it down on a soft surface, etc) but I'd like to be "normal" with it for my last few weeks of usage, so not have much regard for where I set my iPhone as long as it won't fall, keep it (alone) in my pocket without any type of sleeve, etc.
Is the iPhone 3GS really durable enough to be in a fantastic condition when an eBay buyer receives it? I've noticed through comparing my sales of the last two iPhone generations with others' sales, an iPhone that still looks new can receive prices of upwards of $100 over other used iPhones.

May 25, 2012I have a movie that I unwisely purchased on my iphone, which now I cannot get removed from the phone. I even deleted the movie from my itunes account, then synced the iphone back up and nothing! No red delete button comes up, I've already heard that. Also when I try to play the movie on my iphone to see if I can delete it after I've played it once, a message comes up saying You do not have permission to access the requested source. I can get into my itunes account no problem, so I have no idea what is going on. The movie is taking up a lot of space on my phone. I was able to remove music videos and tv shows from my phone with no problems, so don't know why this movie is so stubborn. Might it be because it's rated R? If so how do I "get permission" to access it? I can watch it fine from my PC.
