Jan 22, 2010I made the mistake of *upgrading* on the 6710 Bug 1. IT makes a horrible beeping noise after a while, sounds distorted.Bug 2. Maybe not a bug, but how do you put in an address to someones house? Still wondering probably awkwardly Compass Support on Ovi Maps 3.3 where has it gone? 6210, 6710, N97, and all the other Navigator Editions with compass support, it's gone vanished, now i have issues tracking down the old version to install.btw. i spent 25 minutes on the phone to nokia care, and it took me 12 calls to get through after the first 3 telephone numbers i got given has been disconnected.been a lousy day for me dealing with Nokia.

Jan 13, 2010I have a Straight Talk Samsung R451c. I keep trying to get Java apps on my phone. I called Samsung and they said it has Java, but Straight Talk disabled that and many more extensions from being downloaded onto the phone. They told me to call Straight Talk, so I did. They said it wouldn't be fair to the other customers if they told me how to enable downloading and Java. That being said, THERE IS A WAY TO HACK IT! May 12, 2011I thought it would be useful to make a bug list, that way anyone with a specific problem can come here to see if it's common and if there's any workarounds."Wi-Fi Sharing" process activated when tethering not enabled..Problem description: When using my phone earlier when connected to wifi, my battery went down very fast. Looked in the battery monitor, and it showed that the "Wi-fi sharing" process was using more power than the screen (which is unusual) - it used about 10% in half an hour. I also noticed my phone had clocked up to 1.2ghz and was getting pretty hot. I force stopped the process, and the CPU clocked back down to 200mhz.
Reproducing the problem: It appears to happen if you've enabled or configured tethering once. When it happens to me, it happens if I disable then enable wifi. It may or may not be specific to the type of wifi network you connect to.Root your phone and freeze "Wi-Fi sharing" in Titanium Backup. This will not effect Kies air or anything, though could effect tethering. If your tethering no longer works after freezing this application, defrost it to restore tethering functionality.Most people are saying this, and another wifi drain issue, have been fixed in the latest firmware(s).Potential issues when restoring settings from a rooted phone to a non rooted SGS II via Google.I did have a little problem here and there when I first got my SGSII. When I setup the google account, I chose to allow google to restore my settings. It is pretty cool as it restored all the apps I had with my old SGS but I suspect some of the apps I had is for the custom rom only hence I had problem everywhere with the new SGSII. I then did a factory reset and setup without the restore bit and since then I havn't had a single problem yet.My phone came with XWKDD and I heard something about this firmware has fixes to the previous ones, so it might worth upgrade your firmware if you are ok with Odin So my suggestions to you is, do a factory reset and rebuild your phone from scratch without restoring, if problem still exists, consider a firmware update.

Jul 29, 2010I'm not new to buying phones off of eBay, but usually I do buy it now from a very large and prolific store for new imported GSM phones (like my current Samsung g600). I have never gotten a domestic US phone and want to get a Samsung Vibrant, but many of the cheaper new or used deals are from individual users with relatively smaller feedback numbers. How would I go about making sure I don't get a stolen phone from one of them? I know Verizon checks ESN numbers for their CDMA phones but I don't know what protections GSM phones have, if they have any at all. Do they check IMEI numbers? I think I remember hearing that custom firmwares will erase the number, so it isn't a good indicator and can be used against me to sell a phone. So for anyone buying domestic used or new phones, any tips on avoiding these situations? And even if I do end up with one, it probably won't brick on me like a CDMA phone would?

If I go to the Phone app, under Recent I see all my other calls - incoming, outgoing, and rejected. But it doesn't show me my missed calls. So once I dismiss the notification I have no record of the missed call.

Jan 20, 2010I've had some fun with the phone lately, in that I've re-flashed it a few times. The SW Version was unknown after updating to 51 OTA, then flashed with Global, then back to UK and then updated to 51 OTA again (as can't download 51 UK yet).

Nokia :: N97 - Certain Widgets Not Opening
May 18, 2010I'm having some problems with certain widgets not opening. I click the icon in the menu and the widget starts to open but will soon shut down with no error message or anything.
I tried to remove the widgets that are malfunctioning but the icons will not disappear from the menu. I think this all started after installing Evernote Beta widget.
Is it possible to get rid of those icons and try to re-install some of the widgets manually or do I have to hard reset? I really wouldn't want to hard reset.

May 15, 2015When you opened up the app drawer there used to be a tab on top for "apps" and another for "widgets" and if you scrolled through your apps, the next swipe to the right took you to your widgets. Now there's no tab for widgets and if you scroll to the end of your apps you just loop around to the beginning of them again. So where did my widgets go?
