I have had this phone on the Bell network for a little over two months and keep getting billed for mobile browser usage that I know I never intentionally use. I do not use the mobile browser/internet aspect at all, I use the phone as a phone and for texting. After the first bill came in with over $25.00 of data charges I called Bell and got the they are legit charges and maybe you should just pay us a extra $10/ month for unlimited data to save yourself some money.I now lock the face keys and have bought a phone case and don't carry the phone in my pocket at all now so I don't believe there is any accidental button pushed which causes the phone to go online. The per usage data is low 0.014 or 0.0068 megabytes per use but it happens every day and adds up.Is there a feature I may have inadvertently turned on in the phone which causes it to go online to update some thing? I've gone through the phone and do not see anything obvious.
I've been trying lately to change the SMS char limit on my phone for a while now, but before I get into that, let me give you some background to why I'm doing this.I use to own a old Samsung phone, I can't remember the model, but I loved that phone! Best phone ever, anyways It had a SMS limit of 160 chars per text which was great, but the phone broke, it got ran over, and ever since I've never been able to get a phone like that one. So I'm using a vice now, and I like this phone as well, but it has a 140 char limit. Now What I'm trying to say is I looking for some support on how I can increase that limit to 160.
I've been looking around, and I'm not trying to put illegal software on the phone, more like modifying the firmware or software on the phone. This isn't a smart phone else I would get some app for it, plus I don't want to pay paying for a data plan for SMS when I have unlimited text messaging on my phone. I know this sounds dumb, why not just send 2 messages, well here the other reason, my friends all have phones that are 160 max, and my phone loves to spit them, and its so hard to read them, and I'm tired of this. This is not a network restriction as they also are on the same network. This is a phone lock down of some kind. Anyways enough ranting for me, this is what I've done so far. I've gotten my computer to read the phone using QPST, I do have the SPC, and I can change the system on the phone. All I need now is someone who knows little more then I do about this, and how I can modify this SMS limit, and make it 160 instead of 140. For both sending and receiving.
I am planning on getting a cell phone with virgin mobile canada and i was wondering which cell phone offers better features and more bang for your buck. they are all the same price at o$ with a 2 year contract. i am mostly going to use it for texting and talking and games, i am not going to be web browsing or using email.
I have the samsung vice, and am able to download and install all applications properly, but when it comes to accessing the sd card, the phone won't let opera mobile do it. It says restricted api. But it is possible, I have another samsung and the same signed version on mini on it, I can download things right onto the card. So i'm asking if there is a way I can make the phone let java applications have full access to the phone no matter what. This would also let mgmaps use the gps chip.
I have a Samsung Vice SCH-r561 and when i opened the box i found that it has a data cable included. I downloaded some wall papers and ringtones to my home computer from a website and am trying to transfer them from my computer to the phone, but everytime i plug the usb cable in it says windows xp is looking for the drivers to install but it never finds any. It says it's looking for samsung cdma technologies software. Can someone direct me to where i can download the required software or is there another application that i could use for this?
The browser on my Nokia 701 is great -certainly much better than past versions- but websites 'see' it as a full size browser and so deliver it full size web pages. I have found this leads to much dragging and zooming. If the site also has pop-ups (which can fully obscure the screen!) this can lead to misclicks, impossible to navigate sites etc. Also full size webpages are slow to load and more expensive on data.
This issue has led me to either manually navigating to the mobile versions of the websites I like (bit of a pain) or to simply use the Opera Mini browser instead. The Opera browser is free and websites 'recognise' it as a mobile browser. This means without any work when I surf I instantly get the mobile version of the website I want (assuming one exists), easy to navigate and fast (and so cheaper) to load. In many cases this works much better for me.
So I think Nokia have missed a trick here. Maybe they should offer a feature whereby the user can tell their browser to find either mobile-friendly pages or normal ones. They could even add in a second browser shortcut, one which launches the Nokia browser in a 'mobile' mode.
Now running a 701, beautiful phone to handle and use...now that it has stopped sending my personal information to Nokia via 360Panel [rolls eyes]
The data usage meter in the system settings did not pick up the usage while in mobile hotspot mode. It missed 2Gb of cloud sync with my ultrabook.
I have searched forums and spoke to a seemingly knowledgeable person at Microsoft store, who told me he had not heard of this problem.
I checked the Windows Feedback app and there are several other reports of the same. Yet, it is not a big trending item in forums. Tracking data when in hotspot should be a primary function.
I want to specify at the application level whether or not mobile data can be used - is there any way this can be done on the Galaxy S6 ? Restricting background data doesn't do this. I also don't want to set mobile data limits, or have to monitor mobile data usage. I simply want to know whether or not mobile data can be turned off for certain applications so that they only work when in a WiFi area
What mobile radio active is in battery usage? When I go to battery usage for example for google play it says 13m 59s for CPU total but 1h 11m 59s mobile radio active. What is mobile radio active?
I have a new T-Mobile S6 Edge and love the phone, but one thing I have not figured out is why I still get background mobile data usage even though I have disabled mobile data and set "restrict background data". Both tuiService and OS services are downloading approximately 100K at a time periodically over mobile data throughout the day even though I have a wifi connection.
I just got 2 used Samsung phones (i760 and i770), and wanted to know if there's a way to check how long the phones have been used? Is there a internal usage counter that can be revealed by punching in some code?
I have deactivated my APN when its not used to avoid unwanted data usage. But each time to activate or deactivate I need to hardpress the power key and choose the datausage activate and deactivate.
i am happy to join this forum with all of you,, i just got SGS II from 2 days i noticed that in the 1st day the battery was going well but after i installed some programs and games the battery drain become X2 than 1st day ( 1st day i was testing it and opening options and trying app. and it stay for 1 day and 5 hours approximately. but after installing the games and apps it still for 1 days and 6 hours but without using it as much as 1st day i tried to check the battery usage and i found that every thing is low and good but the display usage became over 76% no widget just 6 and the other pages have been removed all applications in background closed, brightness set on 30% approximately finally android v is 2.3.3.
i fully charged the battery since 2 hours ago and the battery now goes to 93% please i need help about that and i downloaded juice defender today to test it
I've read a few threads about people wanting to change there default apps, and as I've just set Opera Mobile as my default web browser, thought I'd let people know in case they weren't aware you could do it
I've installed the Opera Mobile 10 browser and have set it as the default browser in the default programs menu. Still it does not seem to be the default browser. It seems as if the phone just ignores this setting. If I go to internet from the Media menu (upright corner) etc. I still get the Nokia browser.
The instant my browser starts to load a page my phone switches from wifi to 3G (I see it switch up on the top bar). I don't know how long this has been going on; I learned about it this month after getting wifi in my home and cutting my data plan from 2GB to 200MB--and going over ther limit. My wifi signal ranges from -39 to -67 dBM, which is in the full to three-quarter range on the wifi signal indicator. The service status indicates I'm connected, and wifi diagnostics indicates no issues. If I turn off my mobile network, the browser uses the wifi with no problems. Lastly, my BB app RSS newsreader uses wifi with no problem, and when invoking the browser from within the newsreader, the browser stays on wifi!RIM technical support said this is happening because my phone senses my mobile carrier signal is stronger than wifi, so it uses mobile data instead. In other words, this is a "feature".I don't buy it. Everything I've read says the web browser should use wifi if it's available.
How do I set opera mobile as the default browser on a Nokia N900? I want all websites, e.g. links in emails, etc. to automatically open in opera mobile not in microb.
I am now on my 3rd replacement Torch 9800 with Orange. When browsing on the mobile network the browser keeps jamming. The only way to reset the phone is to pull the battery. Typically I have to reset the phone at least 4 times a day. I have now got the App QuickPull which enables a soft reset without pulling the battery.
Today i updates my galaxy s2 through Samsung Kies. Everything went well and it took about 10 minutes to complete. There is one small problem though, in settings ->battery usage its fully charged and saying i have 1m 50 s on battery?!! And when i open the graph it says i have 27 seconds on battery! Whats going on? How can i fix this? I hope this is not a true indication of my current battery level and will cut out at anytime.
bitstream unveils the second generation of the acclaimed bolt mobile browser, the most fully featured mobile browser, now featuring tabbed browsing. press release: marlborough, massachusetts – march 23, 2010 – 700 million pages viewed, 190 million minutes of video watched, 180 terabytes of data transferred, and over 5 million users since bolt was first introduced in february 2009, bitstream inc. (nasdaq: bits) today announced beta availability of bolt 2.0, the next generation of the bolt mobile browser, the most fully featured browser for mobile phones of all types. among the new features in the bolt 2.0 beta version is tighter integration with facebook – by far the most popular domain visited by bolt users around the world – including the ability to use facebook’s instant messaging service and to seamlessly copy text or links and post them to a facebook account directly from within the bolt browser. the most important new feature of bolt 2.0 is the addition of tabbed browsing, letting people simultaneously browse multiple websites and easily switch between them.
each new version of bolt becomes more exciting to announce, said anna magliocco-chagnon, president and ceo of bitstream. we are closely listening to our end-users through our user forum, our twitter and facebook pages, and their comments on blog posts and articles, and they are guiding our development roadmap in important ways. it is this close relationship we are building with our users to which we attribute our stunning growth. bolt added 1 million new users in the last five weeks alone. like its predecessor, bolt 2.0 is engineered to run on mobile phones of all types, from low-end feature phones to high-end smartphones. bolt is the only major webkit-based cloud computing browser and is built to deliver a pc-like browsing experience on mobile phones. the second generation of bolt maintains all the features of the first generation bolt browser, including many that no other mobile browser offers:
perfect rendering of web pages on any class of phone, scoring 100 percent on the web standard’s project acid3 test. streaming video from many of the world’s most popular video sharing websites, including Internet, myspace, blip.tv and metacafe, as well as websites that stream videos such as cnn, espn and any website with embedded Internet videos. super fast download speeds. copy and pasting text. built-in integration with twitter and facebook. password manager. download/upload manager. ability to run web-based applications written in ajax, javascript and other web programming languages, ranging from google docs to mafia wars. the inclusion of widgets, standalone mobile applications that are run directly from the browser, such as a weather app, calendar app, calculator, twitter client and others. these widgets let people using any phone take part in the mobile apps revolution.
best of breed over-the-air data compression, resulting in faster load times and decreased data usage. patented split screen viewing to make surfing complicated web pages simple, and viewing content on the smallest of screens easy. additional notable upgrades in bolt 2.0 include a faster widget gallery with updated user interface and a server upgrade to webkit 4.03. bitstream has made bolt extremely easy to use, with keyboard shortcuts to quickly navigate pages and scale up and down through the browser’s six levels of magnification. comprehensive instructions on how to use all of bolt’s many features can be found at http://boltbrowser.com/faq.html. bolt is free to download and works on any mobile java (j2me) phone (approximately 75 percent of the estimated 4 billion phones in use today). handset manufacturers and wireless operators looking to preload bolt on their mobile phones can license a custom version of bolt built for any operating system or platform.
recognizing that some mobile phones currently in use cannot support the full size applications and some network providers limit the size of application downloads, bitstream also offers a light version of the bolt mobile browser, bolt litetm. bolt lite contains all the essential features of the bolt mobile browser, retaining bolt’s feature-rich functionality, best-of-breed download speeds and desktop pc-style page layout in a smaller package optimized for entry-level devices. the bolt 2.0 beta can be downloaded for free at: http://boltbrowser.com/beta/download.html. people can still download bolt 1.7 and bolt lite for free at http://boltbrowser.com.n)
I changed the Default applications | Browsing internet setting from Web to Opera Mini. This does not seem to affect anything. Unless I actually start Opera Mobile, any application that has a URL link will start the default N97 browser instead of Opera Mobile.
Is there something else I need to do in order to change the default browser on the N97?
How can one make Opera mobile to be the phone's default browser so that it opens vs Nokia browser when clicked on a link in emails? Nokia web browser opens despite Opera is set as default?
In settings> Data usage> Mobile> Data usage cycle is set to 4 Aug - 3 Sep In settings> Data usage> Wi-Fi> Data usage cycle is set to 28 Jul - 25 Aug
My Bill date is 18 August, I've searched the net and any android manuals, and this site a for an inkling of a clue to find out how to sync the above dates so they match my bill cycle, but come up with nothing.
I am having a strange and irritating problem after upgrading Nokia E71 Symbian firmware to version 410..Nokia Web Browser displays broken images (the ones which are like icons, next to the user names in the news feed) on the Facebook Mobile website. Opera Mini Browser displays the page correctly. Nokia E61 Native Browser also displays the page correctly. Tried another web connection (i.e. different router etc) but problem persists.
I've been using my verizon Storm 9550 for a few months now without any serious problem. However since 2 days ago, the browser could only display mobile site correctly. Every time I try to go to a full site, it displays a loading bar and after that it just shows a blank screen. Even when I try to search on google, the result page is always blank. Could anyone tell me what is going wrong here?
