View 5 Replies View RelatedThe browser on my Nokia 701 is great -certainly much better than past versions- but websites 'see' it as a full size browser and so deliver it full size web pages. I have found this leads to much dragging and zooming. If the site also has pop-ups (which can fully obscure the screen!) this can lead to misclicks, impossible to navigate sites etc. Also full size webpages are slow to load and more expensive on data.
This issue has led me to either manually navigating to the mobile versions of the websites I like (bit of a pain) or to simply use the Opera Mini browser instead. The Opera browser is free and websites 'recognise' it as a mobile browser. This means without any work when I surf I instantly get the mobile version of the website I want (assuming one exists), easy to navigate and fast (and so cheaper) to load. In many cases this works much better for me.
So I think Nokia have missed a trick here. Maybe they should offer a feature whereby the user can tell their browser to find either mobile-friendly pages or normal ones. They could even add in a second browser shortcut, one which launches the Nokia browser in a 'mobile' mode.
Now running a 701, beautiful phone to handle and use...now that it has stopped sending my personal information to Nokia via 360Panel [rolls eyes]
I am using an atrix 4g and lapdock, and whenever I use the lapdocks firefox browser/facebook shortcut the browser allways reverts to the "m" site rather then the full one. This happens using wifi or the phone connection.

When I send a email using FireFox for Android it don't give me a option to attach file. If it will where do I locate this option? What other browser are good that give the option.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my lapdock I was very surprised when I first started using Firefox. It was just like what I was use to on my laptop. I hardly even missed my laptop. When I got upgraded to ICS on my Razr MAXX I just absolutely love Webtop 3.0.My problem starts there. Although I love Webtop, I hate the browsers for surfing the web. The closest browser that I could find to fill my needs on 3.0 is Chrome Beta. Now, while Chrome is a great browser, it doesn't have all the features of Firefox. I so miss Firefox.Does anyone have any suggestions that might me in my quest to find a browser that is closer to what Firefox was on Webtop 2.0?So far I have tried Dolphin, Skyfire, Firefox, Opera and the default Browser. I have been disappointed with all of them in one way or another. Like I said earlier, Chrome Beta has been the best so far.

Or did Motorola break Linux in a way to make typing accent marks impossible?
I've read a few threads about people wanting to change there default apps, and as I've just set Opera Mobile as my default web browser, thought I'd let people know in case they weren't aware you could do it
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've installed the Opera Mobile 10 browser and have set it as the default browser in the default programs menu. Still it does not seem to be the default browser. It seems as if the phone just ignores this setting. If I go to internet from the Media menu (upright corner) etc. I still get the Nokia browser.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI changed the Default applications | Browsing internet setting from Web to Opera Mini. This does not seem to affect anything. Unless I actually start Opera Mobile, any application that has a URL link will start the default N97 browser instead of Opera Mobile.
Is there something else I need to do in order to change the default browser on the N97?
How can one make Opera mobile to be the phone's default browser so that it opens vs Nokia browser when clicked on a link in emails? Nokia web browser opens despite Opera is set as default?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a strange and irritating problem after upgrading Nokia E71 Symbian firmware to version 410..Nokia Web Browser displays broken images (the ones which are like icons, next to the user names in the news feed) on the Facebook Mobile website. Opera Mini Browser displays the page correctly. Nokia E61 Native Browser also displays the page correctly. Tried another web connection (i.e. different router etc) but problem persists.

View 10 Replies View Relatedcool new application that allows you to get access to all your files/folders on your n900 from any pc with IE or another browser so long as you are on wifi.
there are two parts to install:
tiny smb & tiny smb gui.install the server first then the gui.
if you have rootfs installed:
open xterm
sudo gainroot
apt-get install tinysmb
apt-get install tinysmbgui
to get it to work and find out what your ip address is on the n900,
open xterm
/sbin/ifconfig wlan0 | grep inet
then go to your computer, open a browser that is connected to the same network, and type in the ip address of the n900 and you will see all your files/folders pop up like explorer.
I can not install Mozilla Firefox on my nokia n900. I go to Ovi Store and download firefox (12.1 Mb), it starts downloading and when is finished, this message shows up: "Unable to install firefox. Installation file corrupted". Is this a phone problem or just the file which does not work?I have to make clear that I've already updated my nokia with the 10.2010.19-1 version. The previous version had Mozilla Firefox and just after updating my n900 it disappeared.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy problem is that suddenly (since yesterday) when I open the Ovi Maps site (http://maps.ovi.com/) I don't see the map surface anymore, I just see a white surface!!! Everything else is in place. I can zoom in and out of this white surface I can even change to 3D and the blue sky on top appears but no map. Needless to say the same goes for satelite or any other option. No map appears. If I reload the page the map appears for a second and disappears immediately. When I deactivate the ovi maps plug-in (4.0.12.12), the map reappears and stays. I even tried to unistall it and reinstall it but the same thing happens, NO map visible. When I reinstalled it, it said that the plug-in is not compatible with firefox 3.6.3. The strange thing is that I didn't updated my firefox since yesterday, it just started to happen suddenly. I couldn't find anything like that elsewhere on the web so this place is my last hope. Has anyone had a similar experience or even better a possible solution? By the way I have windows 7 but I can't imagine a reason for this being relevant since it work just fine until yesterday.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just went to maps.ovi.com and got offered a new plugin for Firefox. It seemed to install OK and now the website - which used to take about 5 mins to startup for me - starts up in seconds. Almost as fast as Google maps.SNAG - the map area is blank. I can't see any maps.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had this phone on the Bell network for a little over two months and keep getting billed for mobile browser usage that I know I never intentionally use. I do not use the mobile browser/internet aspect at all, I use the phone as a phone and for texting. After the first bill came in with over $25.00 of data charges I called Bell and got the they are legit charges and maybe you should just pay us a extra $10/ month for unlimited data to save yourself some money.I now lock the face keys and have bought a phone case and don't carry the phone in my pocket at all now so I don't believe there is any accidental button pushed which causes the phone to go online. The per usage data is low 0.014 or 0.0068 megabytes per use but it happens every day and adds up.Is there a feature I may have inadvertently turned on in the phone which causes it to go online to update some thing? I've gone through the phone and do not see anything obvious.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe instant my browser starts to load a page my phone switches from wifi to 3G (I see it switch up on the top bar). I don't know how long this has been going on; I learned about it this month after getting wifi in my home and cutting my data plan from 2GB to 200MB--and going over ther limit. My wifi signal ranges from -39 to -67 dBM, which is in the full to three-quarter range on the wifi signal indicator. The service status indicates I'm connected, and wifi diagnostics indicates no issues. If I turn off my mobile network, the browser uses the wifi with no problems. Lastly, my BB app RSS newsreader uses wifi with no problem, and when invoking the browser from within the newsreader, the browser stays on wifi!RIM technical support said this is happening because my phone senses my mobile carrier signal is stronger than wifi, so it uses mobile data instead. In other words, this is a "feature".I don't buy it. Everything I've read says the web browser should use wifi if it's available.
