I am planning on getting a cell phone with virgin mobile canada and i was wondering which cell phone offers better features and more bang for your buck. they are all the same price at o$ with a 2 year contract. i am mostly going to use it for texting and talking and games, i am not going to be web browsing or using email.
View 3 RepliesI've been trying lately to change the SMS char limit on my phone for a while now, but before I get into that, let me give you some background to why I'm doing this.I use to own a old Samsung phone, I can't remember the model, but I loved that phone! Best phone ever, anyways It had a SMS limit of 160 chars per text which was great, but the phone broke, it got ran over, and ever since I've never been able to get a phone like that one. So I'm using a vice now, and I like this phone as well, but it has a 140 char limit. Now What I'm trying to say is I looking for some support on how I can increase that limit to 160.
I've been looking around, and I'm not trying to put illegal software on the phone, more like modifying the firmware or software on the phone. This isn't a smart phone else I would get some app for it, plus I don't want to pay paying for a data plan for SMS when I have unlimited text messaging on my phone. I know this sounds dumb, why not just send 2 messages, well here the other reason, my friends all have phones that are 160 max, and my phone loves to spit them, and its so hard to read them, and I'm tired of this. This is not a network restriction as they also are on the same network. This is a phone lock down of some kind. Anyways enough ranting for me, this is what I've done so far. I've gotten my computer to read the phone using QPST, I do have the SPC, and I can change the system on the phone. All I need now is someone who knows little more then I do about this, and how I can modify this SMS limit, and make it 160 instead of 140. For both sending and receiving.
I have the samsung vice, and am able to download and install all applications properly, but when it comes to accessing the sd card, the phone won't let opera mobile do it. It says restricted api. But it is possible, I have another samsung and the same signed version on mini on it, I can download things right onto the card. So i'm asking if there is a way I can make the phone let java applications have full access to the phone no matter what. This would also let mgmaps use the gps chip.

I do not use the mobile browser/internet aspect at all, I use the phone as a phone and for texting.After the first bill came in with over $25.00 of data charges I called Bell and got the they are legit charges and maybe you should just pay us a extra $10/ month for unlimited data to save yourself some money.I now lock the face keys and have bought a phone case and don't carry the phone in my pocket at all now so I don't believe there is any accidental button pushed which causes the phone to go online.The per usage data is low 0.014 or 0.0068 megabytes per use but it happens every day and adds up.Is there a feature I may have inadvertently turned on in the phone which causes it to go online to update some thing? I've gone through the phone and do not see anything obvious.

I downloaded some wall papers and ringtones to my home computer from a website and am trying to transfer them from my computer to the phone, but everytime i plug the usb cable in it says windows xp is looking for the drivers to install but it never finds any. Recently got unlock code from AT&T and unlocked my daughters Samsung Strive a687, so it could be used with a new value plan at T-mobile. Calls and TXT messages seem to work fine, but am unable to get the MMS or media net (internet) working.T-mobile tried to help, as did Samsung, but all they were able to do was a factory reset which caused her to lose all her stored files.Does anyone know how to setup the Strive, to access T-mobile's network features?I know how to get to settings and where to enter Network connection information, but have yet to find any settings that work. All levels are set to their highest but when I have incoming calls or texts, the ringtones and alerts are barely even audible. I've talked with a Samsung tech person and they couldn't help. I bought one the day before yesterday and it had this problem. When we called they told us it was just a faulty phone and to replace it. So, we did but, we have the Same problem with the new one.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhilst my iphone quite happily connects to the internet via my router it cannot see my iMac hardwired to the same router. As a result since March 29th it has not been able to sync via wifi with itunes or sync to SOHO Notes and Daylite/Billings. All of whch worked brilliantly before.
In the iTunes WiFi sync pane on the phone Sync now is sometimes greyed out and other times it is vailable but when selecting sync now it states it is looking for my iMac and then it times out. From the Mac trying to re-pair SOHO notes and Daylite Touch the iMac cannot see the iphone as available on the same network.

This is getting really frustrating. We have a user here with an iPhone 4 running 5.1.1. It's connected to our Exchange 2010 SP2 Server, and he also uses Outlook 2011 for Mac.Whenever he accepts a meeting on his iPhone, that meeting will become unaccepted in Outlook.Whenever he accepts a meeting in Outlook, it becomes unaccepted on the iPhone.It's a neverending cycle! Double-accepting on the iPhone doesn't help either.I've tried re-creating his profile in Outlook and on the iPhone, emptied the calendar cache, I've restored his iPhone numerous times, the list goes on, nothing seems to work.

I have noticed that my wifi Xoom will randomly display either the notification volume or system volume sliders on screen when either the up or down volume buttons are depressed. I can tap the "settings" icon to the right of the slider on either one and both of them display. They also don't display the same way everytime either. Sometimes, system will be on top and notifications on the bottom and vice-a-versa.

Interestingly though, if I delete or read an email on my BB, the action is reciprocated on the web.And finally, if I send myself an email (either from the web or my BB), it appears on the web but not on my BB.
