View 24 RepliesWeird problem i had was i tried AP Mobile once just to try it and that was it. But after charging my phone last night after 1 hour it was down to 60% and was quite hot. I looked at battery usage and 80% was being used by AP Mobile and i couldn't stop it. I eventually stopped the program but it was still showing on Battery Usage (I'm not sure if that is an average over the day or is showing you what is being used at that moment).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased my s2 and love it coming from a fist gen iPhone. Only thing is, I have been having trouble getting my phone to last all day. When I checked the battery usage it says Logcat is taking more usage then anything else including my screen. Ive never run this program, as apparently its for debugging code or something. I have searched around the net and only found one post that recommended factory resetting, in this persons case caused by a bad app.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Samsung Galaxy S2 has suddenly started draining it's battery quick My S2 is sim free and is running Android 2.3.4 it's not rooted it's just standard I checked on battery usage and it says Andriod OS 62% And my battery is on 82% I only fully charged the battery around 2 hrs ago I haven't used it in that time either And the screen sometimes freezes now so I have to do a battery pull It sometimes reboots on it's own too this has only happened today?
View 9 Replies View Relatedmy battery life on my s6 has been draining fast I'm not even getting 3 hours of SoT time not really sure why. I've done what the battery sticky thread has said to do but still no improvement. Screen is on 25% most of the time, this is with just randomly checking stuff at times no games or anything like that.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI've had this phone for about a week, running 5.1.1. It was fine at first but now the battery drains so fast. I have used wakelock and greenify but then realised it's systemui it drains 40-60%battery. Even when I'm at work and not using my phone it still drains quite fast. I have tried everything short of a factory reset. I have the stock rom
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince my S5 was upgraded to Android 5.0.2, my battery still appears to be using power. Sometimes as much as 40% is used when it is switched off.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I switched my phone off last night it was on 67%.When I woke up this morning at 7.00am it was on 17% and told me to connect charger. At 10.30am the battery indicator was showing 29%.At 12noon the indicator was showing 33% at which point it has remained for the rest of the day until now and it is reading 29%.how the phone discharges when it is switched off. Secondly how is it increasing in power?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had the s6 edge since April and within the last 2 weeks the battery life has decreased dramatically I've always used the adaptive fast charger and haven't had a problem until now! I tried switching to a regular charger but no difference. I also downloaded a battery optimizer that says I have hours left but it's still draining plus even with the power saving mode and ultra power saving mode it still drains even with closing all apps and every tip out there!
View 9 Replies View RelatedThere are days where I may not have opened Facebook or Messenger at all, yet when my phone winds down to the 33% remaining battery range these two apps will both be anywhere from 7-10%. I'll specifically kill the processes after I do use them, but this proves to be futile. I've went as far as paying for Greenify to automated the hibernation of these apps, yet within a minute they wake themselves back up.
For now I've disabled both apps just for the sake of seeing if battery life is improved. I cannot understand why the apps constantly begin the processes after I have force stopped them. Even if I am no longer able to get notifications from these apps without them running in the background, I could live with that easier than I can live with them draining 15+% of my battery when I'm not even using them. Heck, I kill WhatsApp's process after using it, and they stay off until I open the app or receive a message - and I also instantly receive notifications when messaged despite the process not running. This makes the Facebook drain even more frustrating.
Friends who have the S6 have absolutely no issue with these apps draining battery, and I'm not seeing any real issues with them on here. Having to disable the FB and Messenger apps is a bit extreme.
I'm used to the fast battery drain on this phone, but today it started acting up. I charged it at work to 100%, I took it off the charger and immediately it dropped to 99%, 15-20 seconds later, 98%, a few seconds later, 97%. It's slowed down a little, but it's been 8 minutes and I'm at 92%. Nothing major running in the background, brightness is around 40%. I can't figure this out. I did a soft restart, still rapidly draining.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a galaxy s5 and it is rooted (was rooted when I got it). I notice that the battery was draining faster than usual, so I decided to buy a new battery. The problem is that the battery has the same behavior, you can't go 10 hours without having to recharge the phone and this is without heavy usage: pretty much just messaging, calls and email. I see that the porcess that is consuming the battery is the gpsd service but I have the gps disable.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a GS6 and I love everything about the phone....except the battery! This is literally a deciding factor for me vs the iPhone 6.
I know it has a quad HD screen but my battery drains WHEN THE SCREEN IS OFF. My provider (T-Mobile) says one reason could be that I used all my data (T-Mobile just slows down your speeds). This can also mean it's constantly searching for a better signal. Sometimes I don't get reception indoors but usually my reception is good.
Now, I would understand if my battery was dropping IF I had the screen on, but it's not. It's dropping a percent every 2-3 minutes.
My data plan reloads in two days so I can see if it gets better but if not, I will be switching to an iPhone.
Is there a way to stop Google Services running all the time using unnecessary amounts of my battery?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo the last few days I've had problems with WiFi disconnecting and reconnecting over and over and thought that was the cause of my battery draining tons faster then normal, used to last at least most if not all day with pretty constant use and now it's barely making it 5 hours without needing a charge. Att pushed the 4.4.4 update today and after turning the WiFi smart switch back off the WiFi problem seems to be better but my battery is still draining, just not quite as fast.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently updating my Galaxy S5 to Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and since then have being having problems with the phone overheating and draining the battery. I fully charged the battery and within 2 1/2 hours the phone went from 100% battery life to 8% without me using it. The phone itself also became very hot to touch, both front and back.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI just switched last week from my old note 1 to the S6 and I really enjoy it so far but the battery time bothers still a bit.
On my old note 1 and my 5.0 and 5.1 rom I never had Google play services and the android system consume more then 4-5% battery.
But now on my S6 it's always more than 20% battery usage.
And the mobile radio activity is always at the end of the day at one and a half our on play services and android system, never had that with my Note.
I don't usually surf more than 50 minutes while I'm at work.
The only apps I have installed are whatsapp, clash of clans and twitter.
I did a factory reset today only installed whatsapp and the damn battery drain is still there...
My provider/Mobile carrier is Vodafone Germany, and LTE on. I normally have 3 to 4 bars H+
How to reduce this unnecessary battery drain
Unfortunately, cell standby has been a major problem of mine for a long time. I know that it has something to do with connecting to WiFi while idle or sending streams of data required by some apps, but I don't know how to reduce the battery strain. It's battery drain can range from taking up to 25%-50% of my battery life, whether or not I use my phone during the day, and my phone will only last about 1/2 of the day.
I have been looking up ways on how to solve this on other popular threads on this site, but none have had any lasting solutions. I have done the usual battery saving tactics like turning down brightness, scanning for Wi-Fi, location, Google now, Bluetooth, sync settings, disabled bloatware that I don't need that commonly suck up battery life on other Galaxies, attempted both turning on and off advanced calling, and attempted the method where you wipe the cache partition and reboot the device, and reset the settings and restored to factory defaults, all of which only reduced the battery strain a little bit.
I am new, both to android and my S6 Edge. It is on 5.0.2, rooted, and do not tell me to RESET TO FACTORY. I can't really do it because I don't want to, there is a lot of great apps and the internet in my country is very bad.
Idk if it is due to the root itself. The closest I got was "cocktailbar service", and my S6 Flip cover (they don't have Edge cover so I improvised).
I check every night for wifi, location services and running activities. However, no matter what I do, I fail. It won't go to sleep. When I wake up, it is really warm and it is at 50-60%. I think it is something you guys call wakelock. This is really frustrating; one reason why I like Apple and their iOS.
I tried various methods. I have some screenshots you can take a look at. You see that it won't go to sleep, not for a second and the CPU is really hot.
I upgraded to a 64gb SD card, roughly two weeks ago, and I had several problems trying to transfer all of my music and pictures and whatnot over to it from my 32gb SD card...ended up losing a lot of them because of having to re-format the card (I have a memory card recovery program on my computer already, so losing things is not a concern at this point) .
HOWEVER, my phone fully recognized the 64gb card immediately, once I properly formatted it and whatnot, but only for like a day, then I started getting error notifications that the card was not properly inserted, or the phone was not reading it, etc...the card has been inserted into my phone for about 10 days at this point... a friend of mine also has the same phone as I do (s5) and it reads just fine, as does her card in my phone, so clearly it doesn't seem to be an issue with the card itself, or the card reader slot..since other cards are registering..?
Then there's also the issue of my battery randomly draining unusually fast the last few days...and this has only been happening over the last three days...I did go to Sprint two days ago and they "primed the battery" but it did not work at all (battery life went down from 87% to completely dead in less than 5 hours last evening)...
My phone and my husband S5 keeps coming up with message 32 or 50 apps running in background - draining battery. Then you optimize and half hour ago it is back doing the same.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI posted about a problem with my battery losing up to 30% battery on reboot but got no answers so am hoping somebody will test their phone for meWhen my battery drops to just below 50%, if I reboot by pressing and holding the power button for about 8 seconds, on reboot, my battery has dropped to as little as 13%, even if there was 48% left prior to rebooting.I originally thought this was happening after tethering but it has turned out, it does it regardless of how much or how little I use the phone and even without tetheringI am on stock 2.3.4 XEU, manufacture unlocked and wondered if some kind soul would be kind enought to see if they can replicate the problem. It needs to be the 9100, complete stock and not rooted really as I am trying to determine whether it's a hardware issue or software issue.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy battrery has been running low quickly . For instance, I charged it yesterday and when it was done charging I made a phone call. I was on the phone for about 11/2 minutes. After I got off I looked at my battery and it was down 1/2 a brick. I've tried removing the battery for awhile, but it doesn't seem to help. I talk on it a lot through the day so I can understand it needing charged at night, but 1 minute off the charger and it's already losing power? I don't use the internet that much, but I do play games. The phone is about a month old. Any advice?

View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone have any issues with the battery life on this thing? I just picked mine up from Bell about a week ago, and standby lasts maybe 48 hours. Its rated @ 250 hours and although I wouldn't expect to see that, this is a little ridiculous. 48 hours is sitting only. If I make a couple of calls, its basically dead in a day. This is with GPS / WiFi and Bluetooth disabled. The only aftermarket programs installed are Barcode ( which doesn't run when off ) and TaskPanel which allows me to kill background processes.
What I notice is that if I run TaskPanel and kill everything, and then the phone goes into standby. When I wake it back up and run TaskPanel again, I see Alarm Clock and Calender are running in the background. Neither have any stored events and I don't know if they are kicking in on wakeup, or right before standby and thus running in the background and killing the battery faster.
so today i noticed that my phone while its in charge which is very frequent, battery life is not good, is loosing battery power, thats only if i use the phone heavily, for example the phone was 62% charged and i was playing asphalt 6 for 15 minutes and the battery % dropped to 51%! is this normal, i am using a stock firmware its rather old, but kies doesnt give me any updates.i got 2.3.3 gingerbreadbaseband I9100XXKF1Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100JPKF2-CL292610 root@DELL102#2i know that im using an old firmware and kernel and i have to update, is the issue that i mentioned a known bug in the earlier firmwares or, do i have a faulty battery, or perhaps its normal and happens to you guys too.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI received my SGS2 yesterday and, as I have not had the chance to transfer all my data over as yet, I have left the phone on idle since it is first charge. I thought some idle battery usage data would be quite rare and potentially interesting to potential buyers.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've only had my SGSII a week or so but have been very unimpressed with the battery life I've been achieving - not even a full working day.I've been trying to work out what's going on, but this morning things really seemed to come to a head. I'd charge overnight but within an hour and a half of disconnecting the phone almost half the charge had gone & the back of it felt very warm to touch.
Looking at the battery stats and using the Watchdog program it looks like the Samsung Email app is to blame. I also saw the phone was marked as 'awake' much of the time, presumably due to a partial wakelock from the Mail app (battery history in Gingerbread doesn't seem to actually have partial wakelock as a category but this certainly looks like it). I've got three accounts setup in it - 2x Microsoft Exchange and 1x IMAP. Refresh times were initially push (MSEx 1)/manual (MSEx 2)/15 min (IMAP). I've tried changing them all to 15 min or to manual but it doesn't seem to improve matters. In case it is of relevance, the MSEx ones are imposing device & storage encryption as part of their policies (I've no choice in this).
