Apr 30, 2015Is there a way to stop Google Services running all the time using unnecessary amounts of my battery?

View 4 RepliesI have my device constantly in stamina mode BUT google play services is draining 20% battery per day and is more than my screen . My screen is hardly ever on but my device is always awake .
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've noticed this issue when I realised that 1% of battery goes every 20 minutes. I see Google Play Services as the top battery drainer on my phone. I use the Moto 360 with it. I tried switching bluetooth off and checking, it's still the same, 1% every 20-30 minutes of no usage.
Edit: I forgot to mention that yesterday before I slept, I saw the battery was at 83%. Seven hours later, it was at 70%. Is this normal? Am I over-reacting?
From a few days I have noticed that Google play services is totally draining my nexus 6 battery even though I have closed all apps like play music and play newsstand..I have now closed my location services and the Google now cards and after that its slightly better but then what's the point of having a nexus 6 if I can't use these features..

View 6 Replies View RelatedIt appears I have a major battery drain with my 6P from exchange services. It appears to be rather sporadic, but as it stands the phone tends to last ~10 hours in standby. When looking at the battery usage, it appears that 35% of the use is by exchange services. This used to never be an issue with my N6 or any previous Nexus phones.
View 9 Replies View RelatedEver since the android 6 update I have noticed that Google play services is always top of my battery drain stats.
Also the mobile radio active figure is always going up and up!
I do have a android wear device synced but I always have and never noticed this is lollipop.
What could be causing this? I don't have Google now or location services on ...
WiFi in my nexus 5 is taking nearly 40% of battery though the WiFi is turned off This issue started after updating to android 6.0 . Is there any fault with my mobile.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn the last week my 32Gb Nexus 5 has started to drain the battery quickly about 6-8 hours after I pull it off the charger. I'll suddenly notice that it is feeling warm, check, and find the temperature about 15F higher than normal. Checking the battery stats indicates that it is stuck awake just sitting in my pocket not being used. GSAM indicates that the CPU time seems to be being eaten by Android System and maybe Kernel. Restarting the device clears the problem, at least until the next day.
This was happening with 5.0.2 and continues since I updated OTA to 5.1. I am not rooted. I upgraded to 5.0.2 for 4.4.4 via OTA.
I'm not sure if the answer is to do a factory reset and reload or not. If I do that should I allow it to restore apps and settings or should I manually restore my apps and data? I am concerned I may restore the problem again.
its a new nexus 5 my lollipop version is 5.1.1

View 19 Replies View RelatedI guess this seems like a good problem to have, but since I got the stage fright update, I've been having these small spikes of battery gain when my phone is off the charger. It looks good on the surface, but I don't know if it maybe indicates some issue with the battery?
View 1 Replies View RelatedGoogle play services is using up a lot of my battery. I can't disable it either. Anything I can do? Or am I going to just have to deal with it?
View 3 Replies View Relatedmy battery life on my s6 has been draining fast I'm not even getting 3 hours of SoT time not really sure why. I've done what the battery sticky thread has said to do but still no improvement. Screen is on 25% most of the time, this is with just randomly checking stuff at times no games or anything like that.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI've had this phone for about a week, running 5.1.1. It was fine at first but now the battery drains so fast. I have used wakelock and greenify but then realised it's systemui it drains 40-60%battery. Even when I'm at work and not using my phone it still drains quite fast. I have tried everything short of a factory reset. I have the stock rom
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince my S5 was upgraded to Android 5.0.2, my battery still appears to be using power. Sometimes as much as 40% is used when it is switched off.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo i just got a HTC One 3 days ago. My battery life has been AMAZING. But yesterday my play store updated and my google now updated. Play store is running 4.4.21. I also put the google experience launcher on there from phandroids video. I unplugged my phone last night and when i went to bed i had 80% 8 hours later i woke up and had 9%. Gsam battery monitor said Google play services?
I took off the launcher but now i am stuck with the google now up date and the play store update. I also started using google hangouts. I tried uninstalling the play store update but then google hangouts won't work. What could have caused this? The phone is plugged in charging now so i have been through a days use since this happened but i am just a little worried because that is one of the main things that i was worried about before i got the phone was battery life!
I am on my 5th charge, and Google Play services is my number one battery drainer.
I have location services, BT, on 24/7. I only connect to BT when in my car though, so 5% of the day maybe.
If I let me phone sit idle for about 4 hours, Google Play services will be the only thing that consumed battery.
So far i've tried disabling NFC, google hang outs, ambient screen. I am trying things one at a time to see what's causing it.
There are no wakelocks, because I click the graph and I show it's only awake when I am actually using it. GPS is rarely, if ever on. WIFI is never on, as I have green signal everywhere + unlimited data via tmobile. I also do not have any other always connected apps like facebook, or facebook IM, twitter, or whatsapp, etc.
I've had the s6 edge since April and within the last 2 weeks the battery life has decreased dramatically I've always used the adaptive fast charger and haven't had a problem until now! I tried switching to a regular charger but no difference. I also downloaded a battery optimizer that says I have hours left but it's still draining plus even with the power saving mode and ultra power saving mode it still drains even with closing all apps and every tip out there!
View 9 Replies View RelatedThere are days where I may not have opened Facebook or Messenger at all, yet when my phone winds down to the 33% remaining battery range these two apps will both be anywhere from 7-10%. I'll specifically kill the processes after I do use them, but this proves to be futile. I've went as far as paying for Greenify to automated the hibernation of these apps, yet within a minute they wake themselves back up.
For now I've disabled both apps just for the sake of seeing if battery life is improved. I cannot understand why the apps constantly begin the processes after I have force stopped them. Even if I am no longer able to get notifications from these apps without them running in the background, I could live with that easier than I can live with them draining 15+% of my battery when I'm not even using them. Heck, I kill WhatsApp's process after using it, and they stay off until I open the app or receive a message - and I also instantly receive notifications when messaged despite the process not running. This makes the Facebook drain even more frustrating.
Friends who have the S6 have absolutely no issue with these apps draining battery, and I'm not seeing any real issues with them on here. Having to disable the FB and Messenger apps is a bit extreme.
I'm used to the fast battery drain on this phone, but today it started acting up. I charged it at work to 100%, I took it off the charger and immediately it dropped to 99%, 15-20 seconds later, 98%, a few seconds later, 97%. It's slowed down a little, but it's been 8 minutes and I'm at 92%. Nothing major running in the background, brightness is around 40%. I can't figure this out. I did a soft restart, still rapidly draining.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a galaxy s5 and it is rooted (was rooted when I got it). I notice that the battery was draining faster than usual, so I decided to buy a new battery. The problem is that the battery has the same behavior, you can't go 10 hours without having to recharge the phone and this is without heavy usage: pretty much just messaging, calls and email. I see that the porcess that is consuming the battery is the gpsd service but I have the gps disable.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWeird problem i had was i tried AP Mobile once just to try it and that was it. But after charging my phone last night after 1 hour it was down to 60% and was quite hot. I looked at battery usage and 80% was being used by AP Mobile and i couldn't stop it. I eventually stopped the program but it was still showing on Battery Usage (I'm not sure if that is an average over the day or is showing you what is being used at that moment).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a GS6 and I love everything about the phone....except the battery! This is literally a deciding factor for me vs the iPhone 6.
I know it has a quad HD screen but my battery drains WHEN THE SCREEN IS OFF. My provider (T-Mobile) says one reason could be that I used all my data (T-Mobile just slows down your speeds). This can also mean it's constantly searching for a better signal. Sometimes I don't get reception indoors but usually my reception is good.
Now, I would understand if my battery was dropping IF I had the screen on, but it's not. It's dropping a percent every 2-3 minutes.
My data plan reloads in two days so I can see if it gets better but if not, I will be switching to an iPhone.
1.5 hours of screen on time and my screen accounted for 5% battery drain and Google play services at 17% ....
View 8 Replies View Related"Google Services" is constantly my biggest battery drain. It is consistently 2x more than the next biggest power hungry app "Google Search". These two apps together account for 40% OF MY BATTERY LIFE LOST. I did a factory reset with no impact. The battery screenshots I see here from others never seem to reflect what I am seeing - the screen is always the biggest drain, which I would expect.
My X sees light to moderate use with 2 SOT usually.
On my battery stats page, Google Play Services gets up to 15% by the end of the day.. I have disabled syncing a lot of data and do not auto update apps. If you need any other info, just ask
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo the last few days I've had problems with WiFi disconnecting and reconnecting over and over and thought that was the cause of my battery draining tons faster then normal, used to last at least most if not all day with pretty constant use and now it's barely making it 5 hours without needing a charge. Att pushed the 4.4.4 update today and after turning the WiFi smart switch back off the WiFi problem seems to be better but my battery is still draining, just not quite as fast.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently updating my Galaxy S5 to Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and since then have being having problems with the phone overheating and draining the battery. I fully charged the battery and within 2 1/2 hours the phone went from 100% battery life to 8% without me using it. The phone itself also became very hot to touch, both front and back.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased my s2 and love it coming from a fist gen iPhone. Only thing is, I have been having trouble getting my phone to last all day. When I checked the battery usage it says Logcat is taking more usage then anything else including my screen. Ive never run this program, as apparently its for debugging code or something. I have searched around the net and only found one post that recommended factory resetting, in this persons case caused by a bad app.
