View 6 RepliesI'm trying to get my mates GS5 and my M8 to play ball (or transfer a large file) with wifi Direct. Used to work fine when we were both using Samsung phones but not when I'm on the m8.
He's using the built in Samsung wifi direct and I'm using superbeam (as apparently the M8 doesn't transfer files without third party software. We can connect but as soon as he tries to transfer a file it fails.
We did try Bluetooth but the speed is a joke and it failed part way though anyway. How to send files from a GS5 to an M8 via wifi direct?
I Have tried to send files using wifi direct on my xperia z2 to samsung galaxy note 3.But it only pops up a notification that file transfer failed.

View 22 Replies View RelatedFew days ago I purchased SGS II, and few days later I purchased a Prolink USB Wireless Network Adapter To Create Wi-Fi connection between my pc internet and my mobile. and I am succeed
so, now my phone use my pc internet via wi-fi.
but I notice it only use for internet connection.
what I want, I also want to transfer at least send files to phone via wi-fi connection like Bluetooth does.. because I see wi-fi have enough data transfer speed. so, it is very ridiculous to look out for USB data cable to send/transfer any files from pc to phone.
Today in the Google Blog a very interesting post popped up:We started shipping Nexus phones more than two years ago to give you a pure Google experience and access to the latest Android updates. Today, weve started selling Galaxy Nexus (HSPA+) from a new Devices section in the Google Play web store, so you can quickly and easily purchase an unlocked version of the phone. We want to give you a place to purchase Nexus devices that work really well with your digital entertainment.
Galaxy Nexus by Samsung runs the latest Android software, Ice Cream Sandwich, with Google mobile services, Google Play and new features like Android Beam and Google+ mobile hangouts. It also offers a 4.65 HD Super AMOLED display thats perfect for watching movies, playing games or reading books on the go.
First available in the U.S., Galaxy Nexus costs $399 and arrives at your door unlocked, without a carrier commitment or contract. You can use it on the GSM network of your choice, including T-Mobile and AT&T. It also comes pre-installed with the Google Wallet app which lets you easily make purchases and redeem offers with a tap of your phone. Best of all, we'll give you a $10 credit to get you started with your new mobile wallet.
Weve come a long way since the first Android devices started hitting shelves three and a half years ago and since the launch of the first Nexus device. More than 300 million Android devices have been activated globally. Weve worked with developers and content partners to launch Google Play, offering more than 500,000 apps, millions of songs and books, and thousands of movies. And weve implemented new customer support services to improve the purchasing experience on Google Play. Weve taken all of this into consideration in designing Devices on Google Play. We hope to bring it to more countries soon.

Part of me is curious in thinking, did Google finally have enough of carrier involvement and lacklustre software updates. Are they trying to retake back their channel and get the store working. We all know Apple's retail model is a direct success. I would love Google to adopt apple's approach and tell the carriers to take it or leave it and sell direct as well.
After the Galaxy Nexus I will admit that i've been turned off Google.
When all the different variants came up like Yakju and Yakjuux etc etc etc I immediately was left with a bad taste in my mouth. Was Google updating this phone, or was it Samsung Canada.
I want this to restore the perception that "Nexus" devices are Google devices, through and though
Thoughts?
I wonder if anyone here knows how to load standard subtitles files (.srt) while playing video files (like .avi) on my SGS2. There's an idle "Subtitles" button on the bottom right of the player's menu, which I hadn't been able to use. Should I try a different one from the Android market?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have had a 64GB SD card in my Galaxy S5 for a while. Of course the capacity is actually 59GB and I have just about 56GB of files(music, pics, videos, etc.) I was recently gifted a 128 GB SD card that I've been wanting. Now,the problem is transferring all my stuff from old SD card to new one. Back when I had smaller cards from 4 even to 32GB,I could back it up to my PC hard drive. Since then,I still have the same PC/hard drive but with not enough space. What can I do?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Galaxy S6 for about a week, and everything worked perfectly before. Now, when I connect phone to PC, it's just charging and I can't share files. Also, USB OTG isn't working anymore, when I plug USB into the phone nothing happens.
Is it possible that it's not working because of "Package disabler pro" app? I installed it yesterday, and it stopped working after I disabled some packages. But I enabled all the packages back, restart the phone and it's still not working!!
What can be the problem, hardware or software?
My S6 will not stay connected to my PC so I can transfer files, use Kies, SmartSwitch, or anything. Sometimes I hear the Windows notification that it's plugged in, but even when I do, it goes back and forth between being recognized and not. Most of the time it doesn't even show up in Device Manager.
I'm currently running Windows 10, but it did the same thing on Windows 8.1. I have downloaded the Samsung USB drivers as well as allowed Kies and SmartSwitch to install them.
Thinking my Windows 10 being upgraded from 8.1 without a full wipe carried over whatever problem was in 8.1, I did a full wipe of my PC and reloaded Windows 10 clean. That also didn't work.
When I first installed Windows 10 clean, my PC didn't recognize my phone at all. It just acted like a charger. After I installed the Samsung USB drivers, it started making the 'connecting' and 'disconnecting' sounds. Also, the most I got Windows to recognize my phone was for about 5 seconds, and that was right after turning off USB debugging. But with it on or off, it still won't stay connected.
And yes, I've made sure (when the phone has connected for a second or two) that it was on MTP. But... I've tried the camera mode as well.
This makes it not only impossible to move files easily between my phone and PC, but also to use Odin.
I've read many posts where people have this problem, but everyone just tells them to go download the Samsung USB driver, and after having done so three different ways, I can say it doesn't work for me.
This was working fine, and now all of a sudden, probably after an update, it stopped. I cannot get the phone to even begin a USB connection to my PC, only charges. I've tried fiddling with every setting imaginable. Incredible frustrating that the simplest things will not work on this phone.
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust bought the Galaxy S5 yesterday because the charge port on my S4 broke. I can't charge my old phone or plug it into a computer to extract files .
No files saved to SD card or Gmail account either. I'm going to borrow a friend's S4 battery and put in mine.
Will the NFC beam transfer allow me to move my contacts from the S4 to the S5? The S4 is deactivated.
I have just bought an S5 and I am trying to transfer music over from my iMac. I've downloaded Android File Transfer, and deleted Kies (as I had read that I should do), but each time I try to connect the phone to the computer, I keep getting a message on the computer saying that the phone won't connect and I should try reconnecting or restarting. I've done both of these things, but I still haven't been able to connect successfully once.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a Samsung Galaxy S5 and am already almost out of storage space. I transferred some files from my old phone (photos, contacts, etc.) and have only downloaded two apps. Under Storage, it says that Miscellaneous Files take up 13.10GB of space - and that Mobile Content Transfer is the biggest culprit of this. If I delete this file, would I lose everything that transferred? I've added an SD card but can only put a few apps onto it and not much else.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo now I want to try hiemdall as I am told it is much more reliable.
I have downloaded Heimdall 1.3.1 for windows 7 32bit. I want to flash the litening rom but when I extract the tar the files that I get are:
Factory fs, disc image file
Modem.bin, BIN file
zimage, file (type just says file)
When I try to put factoryfs in that partition heimdall comes up with a message that it expects a rts file.? Modem is pretty straight forward, but what kind of file is the zimage is it an actual zimage file to go into that partition or does it go somewhere else?
I am new to this forum and the Samsung Galaxy S2. When I download anything from my PC onto the phone it goes straight into My Files. I cannot then get anything in My Files to save to a ringtone or notification?

I had lots of music in my galaxy s2 phone memory and then moved it all over to the sd card when I bought one. Now when I open up the music player (the standard one that came bundled up with the phone) I get 2 of every track when I open up an album, one track plays and the other one gets the message " the player does not support this type of file". I have completely deleted the whole music folder from the phone memory so where is the phone finding these duplicate files that will not play and how do I get rid of them
