Samsung Galaxy S II :: Possible To Upgrade OS Without Losing All Configurations
Jan 18, 2012
I have had an SGS and now this week have an SGSII. When upgrading, the Android OS is a pain compared to other OS systems, in that is wipes all installed apps and configuration each time. Upgrade a version of Windows for example, and it does not lose all your config. Is there any app or restore method that will put everything you had installed and configured as it was? Otherwise it takes Hrs to get phone back to correct state each time.
I have a talktalk account they come through to my phone and then they delete themselves. There does not seem to be any reason but its very frustrating as I read them and if I want to go back to them sometimes they are there and sometimes they have deleted thereselves!! Are there any settings that could cause this ?
when I have tethered for a while, if I reboot the phone afterwards, my battery drops by around 30% just on the reboot. For example, if I have 44% left after tethering and then reboot by pressing and holding the power button until the phone reboots, by the time it's finished booting (which isn't long) it has dropped to 14% and it tells me to plug the charger in. If I don't plug the charger in (this is a real mystery this bit), every few minutes, the battery will keep increasing by 1%. This is without really using the phone much that it does this. It will keep regaining that 1% every few mins until I reboot the phone again and it remains at whatever it's got up to during that time.
I'm ringing Samsung tomorrow as I am pretty sure this isn't normal behaviour. However, I would like to ask if somebody might be kind enough to tether for about half an hour or so with their s2, then reboot (using power button and holding it til phone auto reboots) and tell me if you also lose more power. And then of course, see if it starts to creep up again.I know that's quite a big ask and would only advise somebody with truly unlimited data to try it as tethering consumes a lot.Bear in mind that tethering also drains battery anyway so make sure you have at least 60% prior to trying this just in case you lose the power too.
I entered my old email on my samsung s6 and want to use my new one with a new account, but it says i may lose my contacts, which i strongly dont want to, and i also want to keep all the pictures i have, is there any way to change samsung account without losing contacts and pictures?
I know that 2.3.5 has been released for some people in the uk. Unfortunately I cant get it, im on 2.3.4 and have unlocked and debranded it from o2 to stock samsung firmware. When connecting to kies 2.3.4 is the latest i get. I cant find any 2.3.5 with the proper CSC, it needs to be XEU, where can i get this from to flash it using Odin?
I posted about a problem with my battery losing up to 30% battery on reboot but got no answers so am hoping somebody will test their phone for meWhen my battery drops to just below 50%, if I reboot by pressing and holding the power button for about 8 seconds, on reboot, my battery has dropped to as little as 13%, even if there was 48% left prior to rebooting.I originally thought this was happening after tethering but it has turned out, it does it regardless of how much or how little I use the phone and even without tetheringI am on stock 2.3.4 XEU, manufacture unlocked and wondered if some kind soul would be kind enought to see if they can replicate the problem. It needs to be the 9100, complete stock and not rooted really as I am trying to determine whether it's a hardware issue or software issue.
I am very new to Android OS and I have just recently purchased SGS2. I have been trying to read as much as I can but I can not understand it.Where do I actually start? Rooting, Firmware upgrade? Custom GingerBread? customise the battery to last longer? able to install cool apps available? able to connect and optimise Wi-fi feature
I updated my SG2 to ICS v4.0.3 last night, and everything went smoothly with no problems to report. Apart from the fact the install seemed to delete 2 of my 3 email accounts that were set up 1 Hotmail account and 1 AOL account.I've set up the Hotmail account no problem, but for some reason I just cannot get the AOL one set up. I input my email address and password and it progresses to the 'retrieving information' screen but then I keep getting the error message Sign in incorrect - The attempt to sign in failed due to an invalid User Name, Password or incorrect settings. Please check blah blah blah....try again blah blah blah Now I've sucessfully logged in to the email account via the internet (just in case I was been a numpty and entering the incorrect password) and the details are all correct. I've even tried changing my password on-line then logging in again on my phone with the new one, but I still get the smae error message. I never had this problem at all with Gingerbread.
Email was working fine prior to upgrading to ICS 4.0.4. Now my Samsung Galaxy S2 does not connect to my Apple Icloud account. I cannot get my emails pushed to my phone now.
New to the forums and looking for some opinions regarding my SGS2. recently updated to the latest O2 firmware (2.3.5) and ever since my phone has been very unstable. It reboots at random (has done so at least twice today just sitting on my desk doing nothing!) and I also have issues when plugged in via usb (loses connection whilst copying music over, can't expand storage, etc). Just wondering if anybody else has had similar issues with O2 Firmware, or if that's just a coincidence and I actually have a faulty handset??
Is it possible to upgrade to Android 4 (ICS) using Kies Air. I can connect my S2 to my PC using WiFi but I cannot see any link nto upgrade. When I try using KIES and USB to link to PC no connection is ever made.
i have a Galaxy S2 since launch from Vodafone UKIm trying to upgrade to KE7 using the KIES program from samsung, however i get this message when trying to upgrade to new firmware
I have tried numerous times over the last couple of days to upgrade my SGS2 to ICS. After I realised connecting to Kies Air wouldn't work, I downloaded and installed the latest version of Kies onto my laptop. The first time I tried to download via USB, the phone connected to Kies but said I could not upgrade unless my battery was fully charged. Odd, as it would be charging while linked to my laptop during upgrading anyway, but I thought I would try again in the morning when my phone was fully charged from overnight charging.
So I tried this morning when charged to 100%, and later this evening when half charged, and Kies refuses to recognise my phone. It keeps saying connecting, connecting, then I get a message saying it cannot connect. I have disconnected and reconnected umpteen times to no avail. I have run the troubleshooter a few times and reinstalled the Kies drivers two or three times. Again, to no avail.I have seen various threads on here about USB debugging etc. and I have tried to tick then re-untick that, but no joy there.I'm starting to think it would be easier just to do without this bloody update and just wait for the SGS3 to come out.
I have got a samsung Galaxy Lite (aka Spica)... i was trying to upgrade it but it died and now doesnt start up! I can't acces to recovery/download mode it just stays off! i'f i plug in USB it starts charging but nothing more...
Kies (2.3.2.12064_9) stated that a firmware upgrade was available so I started the process. The files were downloaded and the connection to the phone established. All seemed to be going to plan. Then the phone dropped out of Kies and is trying to reconnect. The computer flashed up a message that the device was not recognised. The phone is still attached to the USB and has the android icon with downloading...do not turn off t Is the phone already disconnected..?What should I do to recover? Can I recover?
Just completed the ICS upgrade, but so far struggling to see much improvement so far (except for the ability to bulk select emails to delete them) and I don't have these virtual buttons that are referred to as part of the changes. I've looked around but can't see any settings to turn them on.
I upgraded my GS2 from Gingerbread to ICS. This was an OTA upgrade. I simply downloaded the upgrade and clicked "go ahead". All went ok, except for one thing. Every few minutes I get a rather annoying little pop up message which reads:
Software update Device update succeeded
I've tried resetting the phone and so on, but it keeps popping up every xx minutes.
I?ve been through every avenue possible but Kies still does not recognise my Galaxy S II when I try to upgrade the software.Checking the device manager in Win7 shows Galaxy usb device installed and functioning normally.Kies just runs and runs and in the end shows message device not found? Another problem is that during this installation process the firmware upgrade has encountered an issue and no longer reset back to the previous installation.I therefore only have two options on my mobile presently, the other one beeing the Odin mode showing the Android icon and ?Downloading? i.e. ready to receive the data.I have the latest .net Framework installed as well as the latest Kies software.Any other way to make the connection between Odin and my phone?
Recently my phone did a software upgrade, and for some reason this removed all my email settings. I've been trying to setup my email account on it again but don't seem to be having any joy. My address is through Utility Warehouse (xxxxx@uwclub.net)- so I typed that and the password in at the first setup screen. The next screen asked to select between pop3 and IMAP, which I chose pop3. I then set the incoming server to pop3.uwclub.net and the outgoing to smtp.uwclub.net- I am positive these are the settings I've used before. However after saying Processing for a long time I get a timeout message. I've tried with and without SSL and I still can't get my emails to work!
I've noticed since the upgrade to ICS the battery full tone has stopped working. BTW only had the phone a week and the upgrade arrived a day ago. I've also noticed that the stock home switcher is now missing.
Kies tells me I have a firmware upgrade - from the size of download it seems quite major - but it won't install.Initially I found Norton was blocking it and quite proudly telling me so. I ended up uninstalling Norton but having gone through all the steps and downloading the files my PC does not get past 0% on "Firmware upgrade progress" and the mobile just displays a little green android with the message "Downloading . . . Do not turn off target".
Wifi configurations are not available in Blackberry storm 9530. How can I get wifi in 9530? I would like to access internet on 9530 either wifi or bluetooth?
I would like to upgrade 2.3.3 r800at with android to record in HD without losing 4g, android will leave some version of our mobile?? r800a as well as the version and the version 2.3.4 r800?
