View 4 Replies View RelatedI updated my SG2 to ICS v4.0.3 last night, and everything went smoothly with no problems to report. Apart from the fact the install seemed to delete 2 of my 3 email accounts that were set up 1 Hotmail account and 1 AOL account.I've set up the Hotmail account no problem, but for some reason I just cannot get the AOL one set up. I input my email address and password and it progresses to the 'retrieving information' screen but then I keep getting the error message Sign in incorrect - The attempt to sign in failed due to an invalid User Name, Password or incorrect settings. Please check blah blah blah....try again blah blah blah Now I've sucessfully logged in to the email account via the internet (just in case I was been a numpty and entering the incorrect password) and the details are all correct. I've even tried changing my password on-line then logging in again on my phone with the new one, but I still get the smae error message. I never had this problem at all with Gingerbread.

Email was working fine prior to upgrading to ICS 4.0.4. Now my Samsung Galaxy S2 does not connect to my Apple Icloud account. I cannot get my emails pushed to my phone now.
View 9 Replies View RelatedNew to the forums and looking for some opinions regarding my SGS2. recently updated to the latest O2 firmware (2.3.5) and ever since my phone has been very unstable. It reboots at random (has done so at least twice today just sitting on my desk doing nothing!) and I also have issues when plugged in via usb (loses connection whilst copying music over, can't expand storage, etc). Just wondering if anybody else has had similar issues with O2 Firmware, or if that's just a coincidence and I actually have a faulty handset??

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have tried numerous times over the last couple of days to upgrade my SGS2 to ICS. After I realised connecting to Kies Air wouldn't work, I downloaded and installed the latest version of Kies onto my laptop. The first time I tried to download via USB, the phone connected to Kies but said I could not upgrade unless my battery was fully charged. Odd, as it would be charging while linked to my laptop during upgrading anyway, but I thought I would try again in the morning when my phone was fully charged from overnight charging.
So I tried this morning when charged to 100%, and later this evening when half charged, and Kies refuses to recognise my phone. It keeps saying connecting, connecting, then I get a message saying it cannot connect. I have disconnected and reconnected umpteen times to no avail. I have run the troubleshooter a few times and reinstalled the Kies drivers two or three times. Again, to no avail.I have seen various threads on here about USB debugging etc. and I have tried to tick then re-untick that, but no joy there.I'm starting to think it would be easier just to do without this bloody update and just wait for the SGS3 to come out.
I have had an SGS and now this week have an SGSII. When upgrading, the Android OS is a pain compared to other OS systems, in that is wipes all installed apps and configuration each time. Upgrade a version of Windows for example, and it does not lose all your config. Is there any app or restore method that will put everything you had installed and configured as it was? Otherwise it takes Hrs to get phone back to correct state each time.

View 4 Replies View RelatedKies (2.3.2.12064_9) stated that a firmware upgrade was available so I started the process. The files were downloaded and the connection to the phone established. All seemed to be going to plan. Then the phone dropped out of Kies and is trying to reconnect. The computer flashed up a message that the device was not recognised. The phone is still attached to the USB and has the android icon with downloading...do not turn off t Is the phone already disconnected..?What should I do to recover? Can I recover?

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust completed the ICS upgrade, but so far struggling to see much improvement so far (except for the ability to bulk select emails to delete them) and I don't have these virtual buttons that are referred to as part of the changes. I've looked around but can't see any settings to turn them on.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my GS2 from Gingerbread to ICS. This was an OTA upgrade. I simply downloaded the upgrade and clicked "go ahead". All went ok, except for one thing. Every few minutes I get a rather annoying little pop up message which reads:
Software update
Device update succeeded
I've tried resetting the phone and so on, but it keeps popping up every xx minutes.
I?ve been through every avenue possible but Kies still does not recognise my Galaxy S II when I try to upgrade the software.Checking the device manager in Win7 shows Galaxy usb device installed and functioning normally.Kies just runs and runs and in the end shows message device not found? Another problem is that during this installation process the firmware upgrade has encountered an issue and no longer reset back to the previous installation.I therefore only have two options on my mobile presently, the other one beeing the Odin mode showing the Android icon and ?Downloading? i.e. ready to receive the data.I have the latest .net Framework installed as well as the latest Kies software.Any other way to make the connection between Odin and my phone?
View 5 Replies View RelatedRecently my phone did a software upgrade, and for some reason this removed all my email settings. I've been trying to setup my email account on it again but don't seem to be having any joy. My address is through Utility Warehouse (xxxxx@uwclub.net)- so I typed that and the password in at the first setup screen. The next screen asked to select between pop3 and IMAP, which I chose pop3. I then set the incoming server to pop3.uwclub.net and the outgoing to smtp.uwclub.net- I am positive these are the settings I've used before. However after saying Processing for a long time I get a timeout message. I've tried with and without SSL and I still can't get my emails to work!

View 8 Replies View RelatedKies tells me I have a firmware upgrade - from the size of download it seems quite major - but it won't install.Initially I found Norton was blocking it and quite proudly telling me so. I ended up uninstalling Norton but having gone through all the steps and downloading the files my PC does not get past 0% on "Firmware upgrade progress" and the mobile just displays a little green android with the message "Downloading . . . Do not turn off target".

View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday I went on to my wireless at AT&T to look at my upgrade eligibility on the new Torch. I have Premier. I was not expecting much other then no commitment price since I got the iPhone 4 in June. The Blackberry Torch was $499.99 plus tax as I expected no commitment but under this it showed some phone I might like based on AT&T estimates of what I looked at. The Samsung Captivate which I also assumed was $499 no commitment(it says this on the AT&T site and at the stores) it was listed at $372.99 (with tax and 1 day shipping it was $412) The iPhone4 16GB was $399 with tax also.
The Aria was $399.99. I put in an order for the Captivate as it saves me $120 on the price of this phone when factoring taxes and cost. I don't really understand Premier or AT&T why is their twin flagship phones going for cheap on No-Commitment yet the Torch and Aria are so much more? Does it have to do with my Premier account? if so then why these phones and not the others? On the flip side I think I am going to like this phone the Apple screen is nice looking but the Captivate is also stunning. Is there any cons on the Captivate besides no flash and no side loading app?
Just updated via Samsung Apps the camera firmware to a CDE11 or something version. Took 4 minutes to update and flash this firmware. I wonder what exactly it changed in the camera firmware? Hopefully improved things or bug fixes.I will test a few videos and see if the bitrate has changed or not.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought 2 Samsung Focus phones when they launched back in 2010, one of me and one for my Wife. It's an excellent phone, my favorite smartphone of all the one's I've owned. I'm a bit of a tech/gadget freak and was hoping to upgrade to a new WP7 device this year, but I'm overall disappointed with the 'new' wp7 phones. None of them seem to really offer any reasonable upgrade over the Samsung Focus.
However, I'm torn because I really want to upgrade to something new. I can sell mine and buy the Nokia Lumia 900 and probably make money on the deal.
Between the two, the Focus is lighter, smaller, better screen (although lumia 900 is .3 inches larger screen), comparable battery life, etc. The focus is also super fast, so i don't know if the upgraded CPU in the Lumia 900 will even be noticeable.
The battery life on my focus was 3 days of light/moderate use UNTIL I upgraded to Mango. Now I'm lucky to get a full 24 hours out of the battery, with no other changes done, the battery life was cut down to 1/3 of original. I'm really disappointed about this. I don't know how it will compare with the Nokia Lumia 900.
The Nokia does have a front facing camera (useful for Skype if it ever comes to WP7) and a higher megapixel camera (although my focus takes really great pictures already). It also has more built-in storage, 16gb vs the focus 8gb (although after year of use I still have 1gb left and I have a lot of junk apps that I need to delete). So, Why should I upgrade to the Nokia Lumia 900? Is it worth it?
I really need some convincing. Maybe I'm missing something here.
Word on the street is that there may be a refreshed Samsung Galaxy Nexus coming. I wasrReading over at Android and Me and this thread caught my attention:The rumors state that there is going to be a refreshed camera. Possibly along the way of 8.0MP. On top of that, the processors are scheduled to be refreshed using The faster SGX544 GPU is included with Texas Instruments upcoming OMAP4470 processor. This is the successor to the original OMAP4460 found in the Galaxy Nexus, that includes the older SGX540 GPU.With the Sprint version of the Galaxy Nexus coming soon we'll have to wait and see if they are in fact getting a refreshed model or the LTE based model that Verizon has currently, Either way, I hope they do launch a refresh on the HSPA+ line as well. I use the Galaxy Nexus and while I love the phone, I wish the camera was better. Faster is always better as well so I'll take the processor bump.
