I'm trying to add contacts, but sometimes, when I check the contacts list, the new additions have a # sign assigned to each one. The contacts that do NOT have the # sign are all listed in nice alphabetical order. But the ones WITH a # sign are all listed at the top of the list as if they are in a group - only I've not created them as a group.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSamsung has changed the settings in Galaxy S2 so it is no more possible to simply say: [Settings] > [Call settings] > [All calls] > [Show my number] > [Hide] This option does no longer exist that simple. Has anyone found out where Samsung has hidden this functionality so I can choose to hide my phone number. ?

View 1 Replies View Relatedjust like to say that this is my very first post in this forum. I have been the proud owner of my Samsung Galaxy S II for the past week now. Couple of things to ask that is annoying me a bit though, and just wondering if there's a solution to these. Consider these scenarios:
First one: I receive a text from a friend who says that he has a new number. Because he's in my contacts, I can simply add his number to it. So I open the text, I press the menu key and tap "Add to Contacts". I then find him and tap his name. Usually it appears underneath the rest of the numbers, but because he has Facebook and I've selected to have my friends from there appear in my contacts, it doesn't. Apart from manually typing it in myself, is there a way to add his number?
Secondly: I play some music using the built-in music player (Applications > Music). Once the track starts playing, I press the back button continuously until I reach the home page/idle screen. To go back into it quickly, I pull down the status bar down from the top, and tap the Music panel. From here, how can I go back to a previous screen within the Music player to select a playlist, switch to a new artist, etc? The back button this time returns you to the home/idle screen. The list button just shows the current playlist that is being played. What would be good is to see that scrolling menu at the top again.
Every time I get a new SMS from someone on my contact list, and try to view their SMS it only shows the number of the person and not the name on the SMS list. When I search for the person on my list, and sms him/her it redirects to the conversation, but with the updated name instead of the number. However as soon as I get a new SMS it only shows the number once again.

However, I don't actually receive any phone call, just a missed call in my call log, with a weird symbol (attached). View 7 Replies View RelatedLove the phone - just got a really irritating problem. I've synced my phone with my gmail account - the My Contacts list has my key contact email addresses. Then I have multiple groups within gmail account relating to work emails etc, nearly 500 odd.
On the phone, when I click my 'Contacts' button, initially it showed all my phone number contacts, as well all google email contacts mixed with them. I corrected this by going to 'display options' to select 'display only contacts with phone numbers', so that I didn't have to trawl through random email addresses mixed with my proper phone contacts. Great, sorted.
But, when I go to compose a text message - if it is to one or two specific contacts it is fine...I just type their name and it comes up. If I want to scroll through all my phone contacts to send the same message to multiple contacts, big problem - I press that envelope button in the top right corner next to 'enter recipient', and it takes me to the Contacts list, but here it still shows ALL 600 odd contacts with phone contacts still mixed with google email contacts, which is impossible to scroll through and select multiple people to send a text message to....Does anyone know how to sort this out?!??!
When I get a call the number has a +1 in front of the number.
View 2 Replies View Relatedive had the s2 now for a day and a half and when i transfered my sim card into my phone it didnt contain any numbers so im prepared to manually enter them all. however with adding my email accounts and facebook alot of my contacts have appeared but i dont want them all. ive got it to only show contacts added to my phone so i have three entries in yhe phonebook but texts and calls are picking up the names from my syncd contactsif i remove the accounts from contacts settings accounts , does this delete all the details from yhese accounts so will my email contacts be syncd and removed from my address books on my email account
View 2 Replies View RelatedOk, so when I am in the compose message view I start typing a name to send a message to and the phone shows me all numbers for that contact, even if I deleted that number... for example say my contact Lewis upgrades and gets a new number, I edit his contact, deleting the old number and replacing it with the new. Then when I type LEW into the compose message "to" section it shows all numbers ever stored under that name, if you know what I mean..? So i am typing someones name getting multiple numbers even if they only have 1 number to there name.This also seems to be the case if someone registers a number to FB and I overwrite that number with a new number
View 7 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to find a way to change the default behavior of the Contacts app to search only for contacts that have a phone number.
My contacts are synchronized with my Google account and since Google saves all used emails as contacts (in the "Other Contacts" group), whenever I search for a contact in the phone I get a list of all the emails that also match my search. this is so annoying.
I enabled the option "Only contacts with phones" in the settings, but that seems only to affect the contacts that are displayed in the list, search is not affected by it.
I also tried changing the "Contacts to display" option to use a customized list and selecting only the desired group (My Contacts) from my Google account, but nothing was affected except for the list itself.
Any way to change that behavior without installing a third party dialer app?
A friend, with an older version of Galaxy Note, can Show only contacts with phone number on his contact list. It's seem to be impossible with my S6... Is it possible to add the trick? Or maybe I Missed something.

I don't want every fb 'friend' to appear in my phonebook, so how on earth do I do this so that it's not going to delete them all each day. This phone won't defeat me, it has such good reviews so I am baffled why I am having problems.

Is there a fast way to add the number one in front of all out going calls? And also when setting up the phone number in the contacts list? My husband and I both have Iphones and I set up my phone numbers with the area code included. But recently when I called his phone, his phone never rang and went straight to voicemail. He did not receive the voicemail for more than an hour after I called him. If I had been in an emergency he would not have received the message. We called our provider ATT which had this answer.....even though I had the area code included I should have had the number one in front of the area code and then the call would have gone through.
ATT states that this is a "new regulation" that is going through the FCC. If that is true then I think 99.9% of the population has not heard of it. If that is true then why doesn't the newest phone - the Iphone 4S - have a capability to auto set the number one before dialing and auto set the fact that a phone number is required to have the area code with each phone number that is stored. I look forward to any resolutions to my question. Otherwise it is another manual job of going thru each phone contact and adding the information "required" by the FCC.

My wife's S6 Edge allows multiple phone numbers and other contact info to be added. Her phone also has a plus sign on the side that allows more numbers to be added and she can assign different types such as Cell, work or home. Mine does not do this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe S6 is my second Android phone. First was an LG G2. I'm noticing my Exchange contact notes are truncated on the S6. Seems to display first 1000 characters only. My G2 did not exhibit this limitation.
I did some searching around on this subject and it seems to be a common Samsung complaint.
My workaround so far has been to use the Outlook app when I need all notes for a given contact. This workaround is somewhat inconvenient and I'd like to find a better way to natively manage Contacts.
I recently purchased 2 SGS II phones - one for myself and one for my wife. I have this same problem with both of them.When I go into Email and try to pull up the list of my contacts I can only see about 7 of my 50 contacts. The screen will not scroll to display all the contacts.It first was not working on my wife's phone. I checked it on my phone and it was working when I first tried it but it stopped working as I was testing the scrolling function. Now neither phone will scroll so you can see all your contacts.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen i got my Galaxy S2, i had no problems adding photos to people in my contact list, but just recently, every time i search for that contact to add a new photo or update it, regardless of whether the contact already has a photo or not, it comes up with "Contact not found"??
These are the steps i am using (in case there is another way):
* Open photo from Gallery
* Touch Phone Menu (Comes up with Share Via, Set as and More along bottom)
* "Set as"
* Choose Contact photo
* Type name into "Find contacts"
* Immediately comes up with "Not found"

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy missus has just bought the SGS2 - she previously had a Blackberry Bold 9780.The issue we have is getting her contacts from the BB to the SGS2.You cannot copy the contacts to the sim in the BB so I have had to do a backup of them using the BB desktop manager. That saves them as an IPD file.So how can I now get those loaded onto the SGS2?Will KIES recognise such file?
