Samsung Galaxy S II :: Best & Easiest Way To Sync Outlook With SGS2
Jul 22, 2011
On my Blackberry Storm 2 syncing Outlook was a breeze. To achieve the same on the SGS2 seems to be a bit of a mystery!
I downloaded a 14 day trial of Deja Office thinking this would make the process easier - seems I made a mistake! I find it very tricky and at best, temeramental. I've also tried KIES but this seems to be universally disliked!
So what are the options? I don't mind paying for a 3rd part App to achieve this, though I expected this to be a fundamental feature. My Outlook Contacts number about 1400 & I'm not overly fussed about using Google unless there are real benefits to do so.
I'm having a very frustrating time connecting my new SGS2 via USB to my PC.I connect my SGS2 to my computer, I get an error Android MTP Failed! This is on my Windows 7 PC. So I thought I'd try it on my Windows 7 notebook = same error! So finaly, I tried it on my Windows 7 based slate, guess what = Android MTP Failed! I urgently need to transfer my Outlook info to my SGS2.
I am trying to sync my outlook 2003 with the phone (mainly contacts and calendar and tasks if possible), whereas email I can set it up via pop/ imap. I am using Kies but can't import any contacts from the PC like the iphone did. Basically Kies can't even detect the phone .. just "connecting" for ages...
I've been a long term BB user and loved the fact I could connect BB to laptop and everything would sync automatically.
I've installed Kies with no problems and sync'd everything but there is no option to sync MS Office Tasks. Is this for real? Surely there has to be a way for Kies to sync Office tasks in this so called smart phone?
I've got an S2. I tried to connect with the exchange server from my company. It works but there are one problem. The calender can't be sychronized..better to say I can't see my appointments. What can I do? Is there somebody where it works? I think everbody knows the problem with the lock screen.... the display is always locked after the display timeout....of course I can increase the time for the display timeout but i think my battery will be empty very quickly...is there an option to increase the time for the locked screen?
syncing of outlook 2003 with the SGS2.I am using Outlook 2003 and am about to get a SGS2 and need to sync the contacts and calendar is there a way of doing this directly from PC to phone without Google or servers and stuff?
When I put an appointment in outlook for a set period (i.e. between two dates) every time I sync with my android calendar using Kies the appointment looses it's date range. The sync process either syncs the start day as start and end or bizarrely, puts the end date one day ahead of the start date!!I installed the 3rd party 'Business Calendar' and this displays in exactly the same way.
had my SGS2 delivered this morning which I plan to use instead of my business Blackberry.
For client data I run a CRM. This is then exported manually to CSV and uploaded into Outlook. (the CRM provider is working on an auto-sync for Outlook but that's another matter).
Anyway, at present I then sync Outlook contacts with my Blackberry manually via USB. However, now I'm switching to the S2 I'm hoping this can all be done automatically, two-way and obviously wirelessly...can it?
I'd then like to take it a step further and have my Outlook calendar and tasks sync on exactly the same basis i.e. auto, two-way & wirelessly...can this be done?
I've been told to look at Office365 but feel it's a tad OTT for my needs. However, I've got no issue paying for the right app/service if it can all be done.
I'm thinking about picking up a Gravity 2 (T469) but the only issue holding me back is contacts being able to sync with outlook. Can anyone confirm if the Gravity 2 is able to sync the contacts with Microsoft outlook?
remember the old days when you could get a dumbphone (non Blackberry, Android, IPhone) and a USB or serial phone data cable and some software that would sync your dumbphones calendar to your Outlook or Exchange calendar application through the cable or bluetooth?Everything now that does that seems to be only smartphones and then you need a data plan and internet access.
I just have a standard USC phone, but I'd like to populate my phone's calendar with Outlook appointments and meetings. It seems the carriers intentionally cripple the phones just enough to make data transfer through the manufacturers USB cable not work with any applications out there.
I could do in 1998 with a candy bar Kyocera phone and the Verizon "Mobile Office Kit" on Windows 98, but can't do now.bitpim does not do this, Datapilot does not show this phone as supported, and the people at US Cellular can't understand why anyone would want to do this without a smartphone.
I recently upgraded from a Note 3 to an S6 on Verizon. On my Note I had my Exchange calendar sync'd to my phone so I could see when meetings and such were. But on my S6 so far there isn't even an option listed in my calendar to display my Exchange calendar and it's quite frustrating. I've checked in Settings and Accounts and it shows the calendar should be syncing but nothing is populating in my calendar.
I am having troubles getting my Outlook calendar to show on my S6.Emails have synced perfectly well and the account is set up correctly in the same manner as my S4 and Tab 3, however my calendar isn't even available for selection on the page where you choose which items to SyncI have removed the Exchange account several times and set it up again to no avail.
I'm considering purchasing this phone (Samsung Galaxy S2) when it comes available on Sunday 4 October on the AT&T network. I've never had a smart phone before, so I'm clearly a bit behind the times. My current Sony Ericsson w810i phone lets me sync my contacts and calendar from Microsoft Outlook 2010 with my phone. Am I to understand that Android wants to sync everything with Google (Gmail)? I really don't want Google to have all my contacts and my calendar entries--they get enough of my personal data as it is. So, can this phone sync directly with MS Outlook without providing data to "the cloud"? IF yes, how is it accomplished? Via Kies software over wi-fi or USB cable? Or does it require additional software?
I'm having Outlook 2010 and Galaxy S6 sync problems (which doesn't seem rare.) I've tried two apps:
Android-Sync - can't get it installed. (Sent error log to their tech support.).
AkrutoSync - doesn't update changes in Outlook. When I hit "sync now" the edited contacts say "synched" at current time, but nothing changes. ALSO: All calendar events are doubled.
I've just got my new Galaxy S2 and am quite impressed. From mucking about with it, I've sync'd all my Gmail and Yahoo accounts without issue. Then, I tried to sync my Outlook account, but it keeps failing? My outlook is my own privtae Outlook (Pop3) account from home - so not on a work server or network. I've entered all the details, passwords, pop & smtp, etc. but it won't work?nyone got any ideas on how I can complete this? I want to pick up my Outlook emails on the go as it's my main contact email for business and 1000's of people have this address. (Not worried about my contacts or anything just yet, I can always merge these to a Gmail account, but I'm lost without my email.
Sometimes my phone syncs with outlook immediately, other times it refuses to. Why doesn't it always sync with Outlook whenever I want to check my emails? I have noticed that typically it will sync with Outlook when I check my emails first thing in the morning (say at 0700) but later in the day (say at 1300), it will still say 'last synced at 0700' and the only way I can get it to download my latest emails is to reboot my phone.
I can add an event to my Outlook calendar on the computer and it will sync to my calendar on my Galaxy S5 but when I add an event on my phone it does not sync with the desktop calendar. Is there a setting I'm missing to fix this?
I have a Galaxy S2 in and exchange 2010 server organisation. All syncing works great contacts tasks calender etc. When configuring i received a mail saying i could send sms messages from my outlook client on my desktop.
All my sms's I receive on my phone show in the inbox of my outlook, (So that part works). When trying to send an SMS from my outlook(Desktop PC) it gets to my galaxy s2, in the mail outbox but doesnt send.why is the text message in outbox on phone and not messaging outbox? If i go into the mail outbox on the phone and try to send it manually it still doesn't send.not sure where to look to solve the issue. (Phone settings or exchange settings)?
I'd like to send (and then keep synched) all my SGS2 contacts (including their email addresses) to Outlook 2003 on my PC. Sounds easy, eh?
Well, it works (over Bluetooth as well as USB), but somehow only the phone number(s) and some other details (postal address, company etc.) are stored in Outlook - but NOT the email addresses of my contacts!
IS it a known limitation? Is it due to the old version of Outlook? Is there a work-around?
After days of searching I have been successf in syncing contacts, calendar, and tasks on my Samsung Android phone (Galaxy S5) with Outlook 2010 on my Windows 7 Desktop using the following tools and procedure:
Install Samsung's Android "SmartSwitch" app on the phone
Install Samsung's Windows "SmartSwitch" application on the desktop
Configure the Windows "SmartSwitch" application to sync the desired outlook data. After the phone and desktop applications are installed and configured, connect the phone to the desktop using an appropriate USB cable. Windows plug and play may or may not correctly recognize the phone, but the SmartSwitch application should connect to the phone's client app and initiate the data transfer.
On the phone, email, contacts, and calendar applications will readily display and update the Outlook data from your desktop. Unfortunately, accessibility of Outlook's "To Do" task list is somewhat obscure due to Samsung's non-intuitive UI and menu organization. To access Outlook's "To Do" task list, using the phone's Calendar app:
Tap the timeframe (Day, Week, Month, Year) text in the upper left screen header. In the resulting drop-down, tap "Agenda" and the screen will display an agenda of dated Calendar events and "Agenda" in the upper left screen header.Tap the three-dot menu icon in the upper right screen header
In the resulting drop-down, tap "Filter by" and select "Tasks" in the resulting pop-up and the screen will now display undated tasks in the main window. Although I did not see this documented anywhere, apparently the programmers define Events as "date-associated" list items, and "Tasks" and undated list items. To return the screen display back to Events (dated list items), tap the three-dot menu icon in the upper right screen header and select either "Events" or "All" in the resulting pop-up.
To return the screen display back to Calendar mode, Tap the word "Agenda" in the upper left screen header and select the desired calendar timeframe (Day, Week, Month, Year) from the resulting drop-down.
I noticed that after going through this process once, when the main display is in "Agenda" mode I have an "Undated" section at the top of the display. When "Undated" is tapped, the section expands to display all of your undated Outlook tasks.how to maintain the Outlook's hierarchy of folder names (the grouping of each task) in the imported data.
I am looking to sync my S5 with my outlook 2010 calendar and contacts. Don't care about the email (frankly I don't want to be able to reached at all times for work requests). I think the software that I want to use is Kies. I have a few concerns that I want to clear up before using.
1 - I do not want my phone to overwrite what is on the computer. That would be a disaster. How do I prevent this from happening?
2 - I have many different calendars on my outlook and only want to sync one of them. How can I do this?
3 - What else should I watch out for before syncing. I want to avoid any hiccups if at all possible. Losing the work calendar would result in some mass chaos for a few weeks.
Samsung SGH-t749 using New PC Studio ver. 1.2.0 IEC. When I try to sync Outlook Calendar with the phone calendar it runs out of memory. I don't know if it is using the internal mem., but I don't see a way to direct it to use the SD card. It also mentions that it is getting email info from Outlook. Does this mean that it is also syncing the address book? I only want to keep the calendar on the phone synced. Anyone have any input?
I use Microsoft Outlook and also Outlook in Mobile. My question is: how can I do that email will disappear from the server in Outlook on my computer automatically when I delete an email from my phone?
Kies 3 always crashes with an "Unknown Error" when trying to sync my Outlook 2007 calendar. Contacts and Tasks sync okay.
I've literally spent hours on the phone with Samsung (lack of) technical support with no resolution. They are in fact blaming Outlook claiming that this "Unknown Error" is an Outlook error and not a Kies 3 error (I doubt that). Their other suggestion is a factory reset on the phone which I don't want to do or to try another PC.
Using Windows 7 Pro, latest updates to Kies 3 and latest firmware updated today on the phone.
As I cannot connect my SGS2 to my Mac via Kies can anyone suggest how if I want to upgrade to ICS how do I do it.Samsung have fobbed me off with promises of several call-backs to see what they can offer as a solution but none of them have been forthcoming. Great CS from Samsung!!
