I've just bought a blue 5800 from ebay. It's unlocked but has Vodafone boot up screens.I bought it 'cos I'm off to Australia in a couple of weeks.
I want to use it for: Playing music Checking emails Sat Nav - car and foot Voip Use as modem for laptop
My previous phone was a trusty 6230i so this is bit of step up for me!So far I've found I can upgrade the firmware to 31. but not 40. I would consider debranding the phone if this is recommended.
Nimbuzz for Skype looks like an option Not sure about Nokia maps or Google maps
I just updated new FW, and after each call (income and outcome) the music player start play music. I try format phone and card, reinstall new FW, but I have still the same problem.
I have problem with my Nokia E75. After reinstalation new version of firmware (2x) , I can`t start my ovi maps. When I try to reinstal ovi maps over Ovi suite or OC Suite , after download file to phone i see message. Is not possible install program unsupported, file extension sis or sisx.
I updated the Firmware of my N97 mini (to v30.0.004) after the download and update, the phone could not start-up again. Phone says "Start-up failed. Contact the Retailer." I updated it by dialing *#0000# then clicked on OPTIONS, CHECK FOR UPDATE?
I have a Nokia 5230 new phone which I purchased during March-2010. Yesterday, I update the firmware of my phone from v12.0.089 to v20.0.005.The update was done through the Nokia Software Updater and it was successful. However, after that the phone started behaving abnormally and it is getting restarted automatically. For example: whenever any call is coming and I want to receive that call, i click on the receive call button and then the phone gets restarted automatically. Similarly, even if I reject the call, it restarts.Kindly let me know what is the issue and how to fix the same.
recently i had updated my firmware through phone itself, after that its getting restarted automatically once or twice in a day. Since the problem persists i reinstalled the s/w through system also.but the problem is still there.
At the moment I have several wifi networks which have higher priority than the gprs data connection. But when i start web browsing it automatically chooses the gprs connection. Why is that?
I have a Nokia E72-2 Type RM-529 currently running v.022.007. I have some stability issues that I think would be resolved with the recent firmware update v031. I tried updating through Ovi suite, *#0000#, etc. and I keep getting the 'no updates avaliable' message.
1. autofit-to-screen web text.you zoom in more, the text wont fit in the screen, you have to scroll right and left to read.double-taps are almost useless, as although it zooms in to fit the screen, most cases texts are still too small to read.learn from HTC's android devices.
2. sort-by-alphabet bookmarks, is it there ? if not, please make it so, cant believe such function is not available.
3. "true" desk-top browser. try cnbc.com, it'll take you to the "mobile" version instead of the full-web/desktop verson. i cant remember a couple of other sitest, but cnbc is one of them as i follow news quiet closely.
4. being an internet device, it must give you unparalleled user-friendliness, which fixing the first 3 above would. of course people may have other feedback other than browsing experience, but like i said, being a browser device, browsing experience is paramount

I finally decided to upgrade my firmware from v200.x.x to v300.21.012 due to an annoying issue that raised, but now I've found a more important problem. Since upgrading, I can no longer connect the PC and phone by USB. Bluetooth works fine for the record. Tried some obvious troubleshooting - e.g. reinstall drivers and Nokia software, restart PC and phone.
my N97 mini claims to have firmware version 10.0.020. From nokia.com I learned that 11.0 or 11.2.something should be available. However, neither the PC update tool NSU nor the device itself allow an update - both say no update available.
I live in Australia and got Nokia N97 in december 2009. I used my phone for 1 month and then wanted to do the firmware upgrade (V 2.1) Everything seems to be working fine as everything was being downloaded properly from Nokia website and then, I saw a message saying: "installing updates". After that I saw "Update complete" and my phone was about to restart. However, instead of turning OFF and then turning ON again, it just turned OFF and NEVER turned ON again! I didn't disconnect the USB cable at all during this whole process and didn't make or receive any call as well. When I saw that it didn't turn ON, I waited for 5 minutes and nothing happened.
so I disconnected the USB cable and tried manually to restart my phone but it was not turning ON at all!!!! In fact, when I press the ON button, it just vibrates for half of second (this is normal as you all know) but after that, nothing will be displayed on the screen... no lights.... no music... no sounds.... no light on the keyboard... it's just a dead machine!!!! I removed the battery and SIM card, placed them back and restarted but still nothing at all.... I tried to upgrade firmware again but it is not recognizing the phone as it is OFF! Does anyone have an idea about this whole mess?
I recently upgraded the firmware of my Nokia E71 to the latest version i.e. 500-21-009. I followed the instructions in Nokia site and took complete backup before upgrading and restored entire stuff after upgrade. Now, though my settings are intact as it was before upgrade and my operator (Airtel) also confirmed that my GPRS subscription is active, I can not connect to Web nor can check my emails. Whenever I attempt to browse, it gives an error message saying 'Connection Not available'! In fact, I checked inserting my CIM card to another Nokia phone and could browse Internet with same GPRS settings as in E71.
Can someone tell me how to upgrade my firmware to the new PR1.2 released yesterday.I have a Vodafone direct N900 and understand they are going take months maybe to upgrade.I know they say it will invalidate the warranty, but not worried about that.
My first consern is do I need to format my N95 phone memory to be able to perform clean installation of firmware.
My Nokia N95 has very old firmware v12.0.013 19-06-07 RM-159 Nokia N95 (66.01) and it freezes from time to time which means that I cannot do anything for certain amount of time and I can see Nokia logo on my display. It starts to work after but I tired of waiting for this phone to unfreeze. There is one more problem which I have. I have Garmin mobile XT installed while ago and I am unable to uninstall it. I comes up with error message "Removing Failed" I do not want to drag all this problems back to new firmware. I am IT support so as far as I know the save way of rebuilding for any operating system is to format a drive before you do it. I do not like upgrades which may keep prevous faults.
I have found all necessary guids for update but I am not sure should I somehow clearup everything from its memory and then perform clean firmware installation via NSU.Then I am going to use new NSU to install a new fresh firmware. In case that my phone stop to work I can use 3,*,call (green icon) and hold it. Then turn phone on and release 3 buttons when I get prompt for security code which is 12345 (as I didn't change it).
Do I need to whipe out old firmware before new one is installed? If I do please advise how? I just wanted to add that I have made backup using Nokia PC suit already. Also if there is something what I didn't say in here please advise am I going to install firmware right?
I upgraded my firmware to V 50.0.005, cause that's what Ovi store told me to do in order to download ovi maps. However, now, when I open my internet browser it automatically opens full screen which is really not my preference. But when I click "options" it just shuts down. Also when I enter Ovi store now, at first it seems fine but after loading an app page it crashes saying no more than "Something went wrong".
I upgrade my firmware but when i was finish the phone was black. The only thing that happens when i press the start button is that is vibrates a little.Otherwise is "dead"
My phone is set to connect automatically to my Bluetooth car kit at power up. Recently I have been getting a yes/no question whether I want to connect. How do I get back to automatic connect?
I updated firmware to 31. When I click on internet, window "Select connection:" pops up with "(no data)" in it. I have installed my configuration files from my provider again (for internet access) and there's no option to chose them. When I try to change access point to Uncategorised/Telenor WAP, it can't be done - the option "always ask" stucks there and can't be changed. When I try to access some web page, only blank page appears for few seconds and then I get returned on home screen...
Everything worked well before (successful) firmware upgrade.Control Panel/Settings/Connection/ - when i try to click on Wireless LAN i get "System Error"
Just upgraded my 6700 firmware and the email app got replaced by a new one version 1.2.19. Despite doing it via OVI Suite on the PC with a backup first, the upgrade wiped my email settings and the new email app won't allow you to enter POP/SMTP settings by hand. It tries to be clever and do it automatically from your email address. Trouble is, Nokia's servers don't know that xxx@email.com is owned by mail.com and operated on their behalf by aol.com (with AOL's particular settings). I don't mind programs trying to being clever when they get it right or give you a way to set things manually if they don't. But how, Nokia, do you persuade this new program to let you do that? It's the first email program that I have seen that appears to dumb things down so much that it won't do its job for some.
Why did I lose the ability to email photos when I "upgraded" to the latest Firmware? After I take a photo, I am offered options to send via Multimedia, Bluetooth or Post to Web. I used to be able to email too.
Are there any known issues with Nokia Messaging on an E71 and the recent Firmware v4 upgrade? I recently upgraded to Firmware v400.21.0013 on my Nokia E71. After the upgrade, I can no longer view my Gmail account via Nokia Messaging the front screen.
The "Email for Nokia 10 Accounts" also called Nokia Messaging does not work after firmware upgrade.I upgraded my E63 firmware from 400.21.13 to 410.21.10 (the latest). After upgrade, I installed the Email software, ver 9.07(2), from Ovi store. The problem starts after I entered my email address and password. The software imported the email account to the Communication --> Messaging folder (where you used to read your text message). Before upgrading, the email software manages all my email accouts and synchronise up to 10 emails. Now that nice email software and user friendly interface no longer show up. Instead it uses that poor design Communication --> Messaging folder. It only allows maximum 2 email acct. auto retrieval and NOT working with yahoo mail.
