View 8 RepliesAfter an attempt at upgrading, my Bravo now shows only a black screen with the small white bar at the top. I can receive calls, but that's it. I thought there was a discussion of this problem here, but I can't find it. Any way to get back to normal without losing home screen setup?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Nokia E72-2 Type RM-529 currently running v.022.007. I have some stability issues that I think would be resolved with the recent firmware update v031. I tried updating through Ovi suite, *#0000#, etc. and I keep getting the 'no updates avaliable' message.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo basically. I soft reset my phone and the screen went black (normal), but the led light just kept blinking. I thought maybe because of the upgrade it needed more time or something. So I decided to leave my phone and go get ready for work thinking by the time I'm ready to jet, it would be up and running. 45 minutes later, Nothing. Still black. Still blinking. So I did a hard reset which worked just fine. But I had to soft reset my phone again (why? the alerts sounds stopped working...resetting it makes them work again)....but same deal: black screen, blinking led. Is soft reset just dead now with the new upgrade?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am helping out a friend who has a Nokia 6280. She claimed that it's infected by a virus because her problems started after using a Bluetooth headset. I don't quite believe this as I've heard it's more likely to be struck by lightning than to have this phone infected with a virus. Anyhow, the problem is the following: When you power on the phone, you get the Nokia handshake, then the phone loads. However, as soon as the phone loads, a bunch of black lines appear to streak across the screen rendering it black. That's not a huge issue because it goes away after a few seconds. Now I've read this could be an issue related to the ribbon that connects to the screen, but the screen turning black does not occur in any other instance other than right after when the main screen appears. I can play with the slider all day and nothing will happen, but like clockwork the problem appears after the phone loads. What gives? The phone works fine otherwise, so what could the problem be? If you need any more information I will be happy to provide. I've uploaded a video of this issue here (using my 5800 XpressMusic at night - the quality isn't that great sorry, but it does show the problem). Pardon the audio - my kids were watching Spongebob Squarepants so you might want to turn the audio all the way down! I guess my question is two-fold:
1) can this in fact be the result of a virus?
2) if this isn't due to a virus, what is it due to?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI finally decided to upgrade my firmware from v200.x.x to v300.21.012 due to an annoying issue that raised, but now I've found a more important problem. Since upgrading, I can no longer connect the PC and phone by USB. Bluetooth works fine for the record. Tried some obvious troubleshooting - e.g. reinstall drivers and Nokia software, restart PC and phone.

My previous phone was a trusty 6230i so this is bit of step up for me!So far I've found I can upgrade the firmware to 31. but not 40. I would consider debranding the phone if this is recommended.
Nimbuzz for Skype looks like an option

my N97 mini claims to have firmware version 10.0.020. From nokia.com I learned that 11.0 or 11.2.something should be available. However, neither the PC update tool NSU nor the device itself allow an update - both say no update available.
View 34 Replies View RelatedI live in Australia and got Nokia N97 in december 2009. I used my phone for 1 month and then wanted to do the firmware upgrade (V 2.1) Everything seems to be working fine as everything was being downloaded properly from Nokia website and then, I saw a message saying: "installing updates". After that I saw "Update complete" and my phone was about to restart. However, instead of turning OFF and then turning ON again, it just turned OFF and NEVER turned ON again! I didn't disconnect the USB cable at all during this whole process and didn't make or receive any call as well. When I saw that it didn't turn ON, I waited for 5 minutes and nothing happened.
so I disconnected the USB cable and tried manually to restart my phone but it was not turning ON at all!!!! In fact, when I press the ON button, it just vibrates for half of second (this is normal as you all know) but after that, nothing will be displayed on the screen... no lights.... no music... no sounds.... no light on the keyboard... it's just a dead machine!!!! I removed the battery and SIM card, placed them back and restarted but still nothing at all.... I tried to upgrade firmware again but it is not recognizing the phone as it is OFF! Does anyone have an idea about this whole mess?
I recently upgraded the firmware of my Nokia E71 to the latest version i.e. 500-21-009. I followed the instructions in Nokia site and took complete backup before upgrading and restored entire stuff after upgrade. Now, though my settings are intact as it was before upgrade and my operator (Airtel) also confirmed that my GPRS subscription is active, I can not connect to Web nor can check my emails. Whenever I attempt to browse, it gives an error message saying 'Connection Not available'! In fact, I checked inserting my CIM card to another Nokia phone and could browse Internet with same GPRS settings as in E71.

View 16 Replies View RelatedMy first consern is do I need to format my N95 phone memory to be able to perform clean installation of firmware.
My Nokia N95 has very old firmware v12.0.013 19-06-07 RM-159 Nokia N95 (66.01) and it freezes from time to time which means that I cannot do anything for certain amount of time and I can see Nokia logo on my display. It starts to work after but I tired of waiting for this phone to unfreeze. There is one more problem which I have. I have Garmin mobile XT installed while ago and I am unable to uninstall it. I comes up with error message "Removing Failed" I do not want to drag all this problems back to new firmware. I am IT support so as far as I know the save way of rebuilding for any operating system is to format a drive before you do it. I do not like upgrades which may keep prevous faults.
I have found all necessary guids for update but I am not sure should I somehow clearup everything from its memory and then perform clean firmware installation via NSU.Then I am going to use new NSU to install a new fresh firmware. In case that my phone stop to work I can use 3,*,call (green icon) and hold it. Then turn phone on and release 3 buttons when I get prompt for security code which is 12345 (as I didn't change it).
Do I need to whipe out old firmware before new one is installed? If I do please advise how? I just wanted to add that I have made backup using Nokia PC suit already. Also if there is something what I didn't say in here please advise am I going to install firmware right?
I upgraded my firmware to V 50.0.005, cause that's what Ovi store told me to do in order to download ovi maps. However, now, when I open my internet browser it automatically opens full screen which is really not my preference. But when I click "options" it just shuts down. Also when I enter Ovi store now, at first it seems fine but after loading an app page it crashes saying no more than "Something went wrong".
Just got this phne form a freind and was wondering what are the benefits of a firmware upgrade on it. he has been using it for a year or more.

I have installed my configuration files from my provider again (for internet access) and there's no option to chose them. When I try to change access point to Uncategorised/Telenor WAP, it can't be done - the option "always ask" stucks there and can't be changed. When I try to access some web page, only blank page appears for few seconds and then I get returned on home screen...
Everything worked well before (successful) firmware upgrade.Control Panel/Settings/Connection/ - when i try to click on Wireless LAN i get "System Error"
Just upgraded my 6700 firmware and the email app got replaced by a new one version 1.2.19. Despite doing it via OVI Suite on the PC with a backup first, the upgrade wiped my email settings and the new email app won't allow you to enter POP/SMTP settings by hand. It tries to be clever and do it automatically from your email address. Trouble is, Nokia's servers don't know that xxx@email.com is owned by mail.com and operated on their behalf by aol.com (with AOL's particular settings). I don't mind programs trying to being clever when they get it right or give you a way to set things manually if they don't. But how, Nokia, do you persuade this new program to let you do that? It's the first email program that I have seen that appears to dumb things down so much that it won't do its job for some.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAre there any known issues with Nokia Messaging on an E71 and the recent Firmware v4 upgrade? I recently upgraded to Firmware v400.21.0013 on my Nokia E71. After the upgrade, I can no longer view my Gmail account via Nokia Messaging the front screen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe "Email for Nokia 10 Accounts" also called Nokia Messaging does not work after firmware upgrade.I upgraded my E63 firmware from 400.21.13 to 410.21.10 (the latest). After upgrade, I installed the Email software, ver 9.07(2), from Ovi store. The problem starts after I entered my email address and password. The software imported the email account to the Communication --> Messaging folder (where you used to read your text message). Before upgrading, the email software manages all my email accouts and synchronise up to 10 emails. Now that nice email software and user friendly interface no longer show up. Instead it uses that poor design Communication --> Messaging folder. It only allows maximum 2 email acct. auto retrieval and NOT working with yahoo mail.

With the upgrade we got the ability to Delete mail off the server for POP3 (i.e., Yahoo.) But we lost in other areas here is what is happening: I have Yahoo and Gmail through the N900 email client. Both only receive mail when you hit Send/Receive. I have selected in Settings to update email every 15 minutes. For Yahoo it will update (you see the time change) but no mail will show up. So it's going through the motions but not executing. For Gmail there is no update the time doesn't change nothing happens. Every now and again mail will show up during the day very sporadic - certainly not when you have selected to "update" the mail. When you wake up in the morning Yahoo will say you have no mail you can hit send/receive manually but I have had to turn off the phone and turn it back on to get Yahoo rolling again. Gmail will have mail no idea when it came in overnight but at least it's there. I have deleted and reinstalled the mail accounts off the N900 several times to no avail.

The only option I've got from now are "Shortcuts" (4 between applications and favourites) and "Contacts bar". I have tried with hard and soft resets, and it's equal. There is a little problem with the alarm too, but not important.
