View 3 Replies View RelatedI had an email from Nokia today telling me I could now get free ovi maps on my n96, however when I downloaded it and then tried to install it on my phone, the phone came back with the message 'does not support sis files and cannot install'.
It'd be great to get the free maps with voice navi for my N96, even though I upgraded to the N900 only about 7 weeks ago and that hasn't got it.
sent an off market file to my phone via bluetooth which did not install because i had not unchecked the 'install off market' applications.after that i now cant find the files location to install it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded some SIS files and would like to install them on my 5630. How can I do this? Note: I cannot use the PC programs by Nokia, because they are for Windows and my computers have Linux. I tried running the Nokia PC program with "wine", but doesn't work. Can I just copy the SIS files to some place on the phone and install without PC software? I have to copy the files then?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a issue with my N5. I am trying since a week back to install an APK file to my new N5. Ive looked in forums and youtube and dont seem to be able to find a solution to my problem.
I tried to just download different APK installers to my N5 but as they look for the SD CARD and the N5 dont have any it comes up all empty. after a bit of research i found that ES file explorer could do the trick for me, and when i downloaded it i can now find the file with it, but i can not install it. Ive looked at guides that says with Es file explorer i should be able to just double click the APK file i want to install (it comes up as a .zip file) and it should install it for me, but in my case it only opens up the folder and inside i can only find .xml files, no .apk file that i can click on to install.
i found a program called "Wondershare MobileGo for Android" that should do the trick (in another forum thread) but as im at work and i dont have administrator access i cant install anything and would like to be able to solve this problem with just my phone.

Now I am about to give it up and leave my phone blank as a paper and have only free applications installed from Google Play... I have been already told that i might have flashed the wrong GAPPS but i doubt thats the problem since i flashed NANO GAPPS 5.1.1.
in my memory folder it says 'memory for installable applications: 1.79GB' s this part of the phone memory or mass memory? if phone memory, is it possible to make them go to the 32gb memory, or is this specially allocated for apps and doesn't affect performance unlike S60?
View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently got a 5230. Just wondering if there's another way of downloading Apps from http://store.ovi.com/ and installing it. From what I can see on the Ovi Store, you can download it by the "Send to mobile" button. Is there a way to download it into PC first and install from PC into the phone? Just wanted to avoid any data charges if I go and download directly from the phone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an N96. Recently, I have noticed that the memory (C: Phone Memory) is being used up. I have been constantly deleting stuff from this drive but although it clears about 1 or 2 Mb each time, the memory gets filled up again. The list of the stuff I do is:-
Clear all messages, inbox, outbox and sent.
Clear the browser cache.
Check for any unusual files using X-Plore
Occasionally check Google Maps, resetting it (although I never use it).
I have been searching for difference opinions as to what is causing this problem and keep seeing that a reset may help but I really don't want to do this if it is un-necessary. What I checked the details of the C: drive, I get :-
80Mb Memory in use
3032kb Free memory
411b Calender
31kb Contacts
5kb Messages
0b Images
0b Sound files
0b Video clips
181kb Documents
0b MIDP apps
9601kb SIS applications
70MB Other files
I have no idea what these other files are and how to get rid of them.Any help would be appreciated as I have already had the phone unable to load at start up due to lack of memory (although I managed to get this sorted). It just seems the memory keeps filling up. Two days ago, I had 5Mb free, a couple of hours ago it was 120kb. I have only got this room by removing the N-Gage app.
I just downloaded and started using Ovi Suite. My Nokia 5230 is running old software so I wanted to update it. My phone is completely working and a SIM card is inserted in it and I can call with it, but when I want to install the update then it says that there is no SIM card. I have tried ejecting the SIM card and inserting it again but it didn't work. Do you know anything that would help? And also somewhy I'm unable to install anything into the phone by USB cable.

View 2 Replies View RelatedEarlier today I decided to have a new wallpaper onto my phone, unfortunately I didn't like how it looked so I decided to delete them. The problem began when I tried to delete them and I found out that the delete option is unavailable due to syncing them onto my phone and what's worse is that the original files are gone. Is there anyway I can get rid of these files?

I know this has been discussed lots before but I can't seem to "find" a solution that works for me.The N97 phone memory 64MB shows full but when I look at it under Explorer I can only see about 25Mb of material.Where is the rest of the memory going to? I have gone through all the folders and files via expoler and can't find anything bigger than 2MB except Maps at 9MB. When I add them all up it comes to just over 25MB.Any tips on what I could move to the Mass Memory delete to free up some memory. As far as I can tell everything that can run off the Mass Memory is already there (text messages, images, music, apps etc). Are there some sort of log files or crash files that I could delete without hurting the phones operating system?

I am completely unable to install OVI suite. The installation hangs every time. I have tried several times. Firstly from the installer that shipped with the phone (this just hung - no message), then from the most up to date version downloaded from the website. With this latter I get a message saying "an error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.MC,processorArchitecture="x86",publictoken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32". Please refer to help and support for more information
I have seen similar posts to this on the forum - most of which suggested uninstalling PC suite and then trying the install again. However, I have never had PC suite on this machine.
I would like to completely purge all leftovers files from when I rooted my Nexus 5.
I tried something with another device I own - the Nexus 7 2012 - and that was using TWRP and remove all the files from "/". Of course, it would fail to remove everything (permissions?) and cause the device to freeze, but forcing reboot would allow to enter bootloader and flash everything fresh and lock the bootloader (I used Nexus Root Toolkit). It has not caused any obvious problems.
I was wondering what the best way would be to completely start fresh on my Nexus 5 while getting rid of all leftover files.
I recently purchased a new N900 phone. After installing pc suite and connecting the phone to pc suite, I did not know what I did, but I found out my device now has all duplicate files/folders such as 2 video files, 2 music files .etc and they are all identical.

I am using Nokia 500. My question is how to delete unwanted files in C: Phone memory, which has 83MB SIS applications and 81 MB other files and why daily the free memory is getting reduced for example it was 100 mb earlier and I dint even installed new applications and it reduced to 20 MB, is there any option as we have in computer like clearing files in %temp% and prefetch .

When I want to transfer some files from my phone to my PC I use the USB cable. However the files I see from the PC are old, I even see files that I have deleted from the phone as long as a month ago. Of course I can not transfer these "phantom" files to the PC, but I also don't see the new files and folders that I have created recently and am looking for. Refreshing the window doesn't work.
