Nokia :: Portrait Text Input Is Here / Devels / Vertsms
Jun 6, 2010
As usual, i'm restraining from using extras-devels yet, but i am excited to see progress finally happening on this front. The system wide portrait in particular looks neat, as it replaces the usual keyboard so you don't need vertsms. URL
I just completed a system upgrade on my Mototola Droid Razr. It now vibrates on any text input (Text or internet input). Phone dialer is ok, just all other word input. I have unchecked or checked everything that was normal under the old Android version. Currently using 4.1.2 android version.
A few things that i discovered and its bad! Comparing to E71, E72 is very bad. By the way, this is the second E72 i am using. I bought one before, same issue, now the secound one, Same ISSUE again!
Here are the problems: I need to type in Chinese (pinyin) but whenever the language is switched to Chinese input, the calculator does not allow me to input decimal (how bad this is!).
Also in Chinese mode, once back to English input, the SPACE bar input is NOT WORKING. The only way is to restart the damm phone.
you know when you type and you use words like "haha" it doesn't recognize it and you have an option to add the word to the list of words? where does it go?
i ask because some got added accidentally and are spelled wrong and i keep getting it as an option when i type so i want to delete the wrong words but i dont know where to go to do that.
my nokia phone had a word vault and i was able to delete them. i cant seem to find it on the HTC EVO 4G.
I'm looking to add an input language onto my BB Bold, the problem is - the language is not in the list of options... What I'm after is Chinese... I got my phone from UK and it's SIM free.I am pretty terrible when it goes about advanced options and I'm affraid if I start fixing something myself, I will do more damage than good
Since the update or attempt to install the Swype beta I've had a problem with text boxes not receiving characters entered by the keyboard or voice command. I can pull up a search or text message or email. All of them will allow the keyboard to display and it vibrates to let me know I'm pressing characters, but nothing ever actually appears in the window. Same for voice input. It appears to be working, but no words actualy appear in the text window.
The predictive text input method was turned on before, but now it is turned off and I want to turn it back on. All of the help instructions include steps and/or menu options that are not available on my phone. For example, I can do Options, Language and Text Options, but "Show Text Input Options" does not appear. I also cannot get to the referenced check box anywhere for Predictive Text Input. Can anyone help please?
After running some updates yesterday, the "show text input options" is no longer available in the options. Neither can I select sure type when writing a message. Would appreciate some help.
Suddenly started having an issue, wonder if anyone else has seen it. Periodically, I'll be unable to enter text into an SMS. The keyboard will pop up, but nothing I type actually registers. The only way I've found to resolve the issue is to reboot, which only lasts a few hours.
I am using Fire xt311, I am writing messages in another language than english (but with english letters)- the T9 (predictive text) is always filling the word for me. Is there a clue how to turn off the predictive text input (without making user dict)?
I'd been sending text messages during the evening, then I went to reply to a text as normal and the keyboard had changed without me doing anything? It changed from the normal "qwerty" keyboard to the old style keyboard, with the abc on button "a", def on button "b", ghi on button "c" if that makes sense, like on old phones? It was like that all night. Switched my phone off at night as normal, switched it back on again in the morning and it was back to the "qwerty" keyboard again. Does anyone know what caused this to happen, it was really strange!!And I quite liked that old style keyboard, I dont know what the technical term for it is, but it was much quicker and less mistakes typing a message than the qwerty keyboard?
I've had my Defy for almost a year and avoid sending text because the screen is not touch sensitive. It is pretty constant. I have to just about bash the screen to get any response when trying to input text. It also happens when trying to answer the phone or select apps.
I'm using an Xperia Pro running the latest 2.3.4 release (4.0.2.A.0.58) and have two problems with the user dictionary for text-input. I notice that if I manually add words to the user dictionary (through the settings menu -> Language & keyboard -> User dictionary -> add), then these words do not appear in the as word suggestions when I am typing. I have my setting set to the default of "substitute letters only" for the slide-out and "automatically correct words" for the on-screen keyboard. Secondly, the automatic word suggestion feature often repeatedly suggests old spelling mistakes to me which is quite annoying. I would like a feature where I can also view, edit and delete words which have been automatically added to the automatic dictionary.
I received my X6 from T-Mobile today and found that during text entry in portrait there is only the alphanumeric keyboard, not the mini QWERTY that my aunt's 5800 has. Is this normal, or has T-Mobile disabled it? It seems weird to have the button for changing keyboards, and only having the option of selecting the 1 keyboard that there is.
Does anyone know how to turn portrait mode off in browsing?? it's doing my nut in; keeps flicking between portrait and lanscape when i move the phone slightly.it's the same when you get get a call aswell; trying to chase the bloody answer button before it rings out cheers, Leon.
before the firmware update (released this week), the browser could rotate to portrait, now it wont. i keyed in the trick combination "shift+ctrol+ letter o" still wont work., i was surprised 'coz i thought i read somewhere that the latest firmware update would actually enable the browser to portrait as a default function.
When I play video in full screen in real player the video is in portrait mode and it can't orientate in landscape mode. When it's not playing in full screen the video is normal in landscape mode. My phone is nokia E72-2 fw 071.004?
Just got my Nokia E63 yesterday and was wondering if there's any way to add Russian as an input language? Got a text today in Russian that I can read fine but can only use the default English alphabet to reply.
My N82 served me very loyally for an yr since yesterday, when i was listening to music and ran to catch my bus, my cell was in my jeans pocket. After that my cell is not responding to any key input from my Handsfree/headset WH 701 & HS-43 but sound comes from both earphones. I tested my handsfree on another n82 and other models and it is working fine. Still other models 3.5mm handsfree are having same isuue now with my cell, the calls cannot be cut and nor the volume or tracks could be changed.Apart from thsi my N82 is working fine. I backed up my cell data and hard and soft formatted it but the issue havent gone. What could have gone wrong with the 3.5mm port?
I have Nokia C5-00 mobile bought 5 months back. My phone's audio input and audio output are really bad. I have the latest software update i.e. 062.001. And recently I have given for service in a Nokia service station. But the problem is still the same. So how could I improve the audio of my phone. Or else is it the problem with Nokia C5-00.
I just bought a Nokia N97 Mini with a QWERTY lay-out keyboard. However, when I press the keys, for example the Q, I get an A as input. How can I change these settings to also have the QWERTY input? I have tried changing my country and language settings, no help.
Is there any way how I can change the input language on my n82 without navigating the whole way through the settings? Some kind of shortcut like on the e-series. I had the idea to emulate the necessary keys from e-series phones using magickey:
New Swype 2.0 on Nokia beta labs works a treat in split screen, try it do!If this was helpful please click Star for KudosPhone history :-3210, 3100, 3200, 6230i, N73, N95-8GB, N97, N8, Lumia800?
I was taking a shower; the Lumia 900 on the bathroom counter like I've always had my iPhone 3G. I got a call, dried off, used it, and the buttons on the phone became frozen and all touch input was no longer working. I finally soft reset the device by holding down the power button for 15 seconds (ignore the pull down to shut down tile, you can't drag it) and reset and it works again, but I am concerned. A little bit of humidity seems to have knocked it out, but it may be a coincidence.
