View 2 Replies View RelatedFor the past few weeks the Maps program will not connect to the internet. It will bring up the local wifi that is available and say that the connection has failed. But all other uses of the internet are perfectly fine. Tried restarting. Firgured next step is to reinstall the whole thing but wanted to see if there was a solution that comes before that whole bit.

My OS is windows XP and I have tried both PC companion and SE Update service for the upgrade. When it comes to the part where I have to "turn off the phone...wait for 5 or 30 secs, connect the cables etc then press the back button while inserting the microUSB into the phone"....then nothing happens. My computer just freezes after a few minutes with nothing indicating on the screen that something...anything is going on. I have tried this several times and for several days already.

Since then, each time I try to start the Emails Setup Initialization, it ask me to activate my email accounts. You check the ones who want and it asks you to Verify the email by entering your password what I gladly did multiple times. View 1 Replies View RelatedI own a N8 for 1 and half years and very happy with it. I did not upgrade to Belle because I read lots of people that were not satisfied and wanted to go back to Anna.
Problems I read in the forum in various discussions:1) Camera performance in low light has deteriorated, I love my N8 mainly because of the camera
2) Battery life is worse
3) Applications will be lost and I will need to reinstall them all , plus could never get back the Nokia ones I had free through offers
4) The useful and effective Nokia clock/calendar/profile switcher has been showed the door in favor of a Andoid-style clock
5) Widgets are worse or less effective: the email and music widgets are very big that I don't think I will be very happy wasting lots of space with no alternative.
6) Widgets do not change with theme, I have my nice Anna email/music and other widgets that gets transparent or just adapt to the Theme I choose, I haven't seen that on Belle. That ugly email widget for example is always the same , white on blue.
So basically I feel that I give up lots of useful and efficient features just in order to get a OS that is more fluid , has more homescreens and I can move the widgets and shortcuts around??
I have looked around the forum and there are still people not satisfied but most comments are now old.
There seems to be a problem with the map upgrade. The data connection always goes on if I use the internet. Just browsing turns the data connection always on. I have been unable to find a fix for this. Unless I just reboot the phone or terminate the data link manually. There is no reason for this to happen. I am not running any program in the background that I can see that demands constant data connection. If it was, I would have disabled it long time ago.
But just browsing the internet seems to turn on the constant data connection. From what I can best tell. This started after I upgraded to the newest versions of map. It is my suspicion this has something to do with the new software that checks the location of the phone to gather information about local events. But I cannot find that program anywhere running to terminate it once it starts. But it is visible in the program add menu on where widget can be added to the home screen.
Last week, we upgraded my Nokia N8 to Symbian Anna.Now, I experienced one large and one smaller problem:1. Large problem: When connecting the phone (via USB cable) to my notebook (Suse Linux 11.2), it is no longer recognized as a mass storage drive (USB stick), but only the camera is recognized (pptp protocol), i.e., the notebook asks, if I want to copy the photos, but does not find access to all other files. (Before upgrading, this problem did not exist!)
2. Smaller problem: When taking photos, one can add a description (under "details").This works, but not as good as before: the number of characters for the description is drastically reduced. and what is worse: all older descriptions have been truncated and are hardly of any use any more.
After Anna upgrade, the operation of my phone (N8) run slower generally. I am not sure I can specify few, for example, openning Photos, taking picture, working with worksheet, etc.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI've now been told by Nokia support chat, that I was supposed to 'monitor' the download, and later the installation of upgrades, when I called and explained that my phone is DEAD AS A DOORNAIL, stuck on the Nokia screen, no life, no hard reset, nothing helps. She failed to explain to me how exactly is it that one 'monitors' a download. Watch the bar? Anyway, stay away from the upgrade the system keeps telling you to do. I've had my $500 phone for 13 months and I'm told I have to pay to have it repaired, cause I'm out of warranty. BTW, if any of you have a suggestion, I'm all ears!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got optional update from my N8-00 and I dont know what happened but it seems that it corrupted my phone because it doesn't pass through the loading page luckily I was able to get a fix on that. But the main problem is I've been missing some of Nokia Apps including Maps, Ovi store, quick office and also the pre-downloaded games that came with Symbian belle. I believe those are Need for Speed, Golf and I forgot the other one. How can I have those apps back? I've been doing factory reset every now and then but still programs are missing. And also those missing programs have widgets on my homescreen and an error which is "Error occurred. Widgets removed" will pop up on my screen.

After the upgrade, Nokia Suite could not see any of the existing music on my phone even though it is still there & I can play it through the phone. I added some more music to the phone through the drag & drop function on Nokia suite & now when I try to sync, this isn't visible either. How to get Nokia Suite to see the music on my phone?

I do not want to login to OVI as I feel that I do not have any control over the data usage of it. I am frequent traveler and I guess that OVI is not going to pay for the internet while I am roaming. I need to get entirely rid of this OVI login screen. Anyone who can explain how I can remove the OVI login from my phone ? Pressing the Later button is not an option.

When I send a message I have to wait 10-20 seconds before the phone becomes usable again, and it takes about 10 seconds to open a new message too.
I updated my 808 PureView (product code 059P8D4) today using the over the air method and I have discovered that Nokia Music no longer works. My 808 came with a 12 month subscription to Nokia Music and 40 lakhs of value. Now I am not able to use that. Is anyone else in the same boat?

Then cycle the words using the *.Now using the Belle software, I cannot return to the word. The cursor just marches through the word letter by letter not selecting it.

1) widget offline setting
2) automatic wifi enable when launching the browser, store or other internet app
3) bluetooth beep no longer present after turning off bluetooth
4) turning wifi on doesn't automatically pair with defined access point
5) task manager or open applications feature
6) automatic screen blanking while placing or receiving a call
7) wife connection drops but wifi radio stays on
8) touching battery icon indicates remaining power (same for other icons)
Another nit, apps that were previously downloaded when they were free, can no longer be downloaded without paying. Why does the upgrade remove your apps anyway?
Just received a notice that there was an update for the Nokia Browser available. Clicked OK to download and install ,....now the broswer won't start because of " Class Notound...Java.." error message.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHi, I have a N97 (all firmware up to latest) and my OVI maps has never worked (logs in but as soon as you use it it just closes the app). Sometimes when I end a call it just switches itself off and on again. I even had a case where the battery went flat and I charged it for a while but had to take it off of charge but for some reason the bar still kept on moving up like it was charging. In all honesty I've only had problems with my phone and am kinda regretting not getting a Iphone instead. Please help as this phone will be flying out my car window on the highway if this keeps going on.

I also did I hard rest, reinstalled PC SUITE. The only way phone "talks" to the PC is via bluetooth but the only wo updates software is via usb cable.Please help.

As I remember I previously did it by choosing maps in Nokia PC Suite which sent me to a map download program. Now it just sends me to a ovi-map website that says "Navigation on your Nokia is now free".But how do I load a new map into my existing map software on my N95 8GB?Is it possible in some way to get free navigation working on N95 8GB?
