Nokia Nseries :: N8 Predictive Text After Belle Upgrade
May 1, 2012
I have always used predictive text.Using the Anna software if I wrote a word and it was wrong I could return and re-select the word. Then cycle the words using the *.Now using the Belle software, I cannot return to the word. The cursor just marches through the word letter by letter not selecting it.
I own a N8 for 1 and half years and very happy with it. I did not upgrade to Belle because I read lots of people that were not satisfied and wanted to go back to Anna. Problems I read in the forum in various discussions:1) Camera performance in low light has deteriorated, I love my N8 mainly because of the camera
2) Battery life is worse 3) Applications will be lost and I will need to reinstall them all , plus could never get back the Nokia ones I had free through offers 4) The useful and effective Nokia clock/calendar/profile switcher has been showed the door in favor of a Andoid-style clock 5) Widgets are worse or less effective: the email and music widgets are very big that I don't think I will be very happy wasting lots of space with no alternative. 6) Widgets do not change with theme, I have my nice Anna email/music and other widgets that gets transparent or just adapt to the Theme I choose, I haven't seen that on Belle. That ugly email widget for example is always the same , white on blue.
So basically I feel that I give up lots of useful and efficient features just in order to get a OS that is more fluid , has more homescreens and I can move the widgets and shortcuts around??
I have looked around the forum and there are still people not satisfied but most comments are now old.
im planning to buy nokia 500, but im still curious if this model can able to upgrade symbian belle since it's OS is anna.Nokia user since 2004.Owned 3310, 1100, 3300, 6600, 6300, 5310, 5130, N79, 5800.Owns: 6230 (still alive) and 500....
i just upgrade anna to belle... but most of my games apps were lost... is it really lost or just the shortcuts were lost... i tried searching them but still cant find them...
My N8 could always sync music no problem before I changed to Belle. After the upgrade, Nokia Suite could not see any of the existing music on my phone even though it is still there & I can play it through the phone. I added some more music to the phone through the drag & drop function on Nokia suite & now when I try to sync, this isn't visible either. How to get Nokia Suite to see the music on my phone?
I upgraded to Belle on Saturday and ever since then I'm suffering from long delays any time I send or receive a message or the phone connects to the internet.
When I send a message I have to wait 10-20 seconds before the phone becomes usable again, and it takes about 10 seconds to open a new message too.
So I eagerly upgraded from Anna to Belle on my N8. Here is a list of missing features;
1) widget offline setting
2) automatic wifi enable when launching the browser, store or other internet app
3) bluetooth beep no longer present after turning off bluetooth
4) turning wifi on doesn't automatically pair with defined access point
5) task manager or open applications feature
6) automatic screen blanking while placing or receiving a call
7) wife connection drops but wifi radio stays on
8) touching battery icon indicates remaining power (same for other icons)
Another nit, apps that were previously downloaded when they were free, can no longer be downloaded without paying. Why does the upgrade remove your apps anyway?
I bought the Xperia X10 mini in Hong Kong but I live in Thailand. The people at the shop set it up for me to use in English and it worked perfectly until I upgraded to 2.1. Now there is a bunch of things in Chinese (including apps for the Chinese equivalent of youtbe and facebook!).
The main problem is entering text. When I go to new message, the keyboard is for Chinese by default. There's a button on the right to change to English but then I loose the the spacebar key which is replaced by the key for capitals. In addition there is no predictive text in English so I have to use multitap. Under Language and keyboard, I selected the UK and English for locale. However, under "Text settings" I only have "Chinese keyboard & HWR" and under that is not possible to unclick all of them, it forces me to have at least one selected.
Is it possible to do another upgrade from another location?
Symbian has been around for a very long time but I'm still struggling to find asimple free text editor where I can create a *.txt file and write down information in it or perhaps I don't know about it, so I was wondering is anyone familiar in any free text editor compatible with Belle?
I have just recently got a Nokia X6 but cant seem to get the predictive text to work when using the qwerty keyboard. It works fine in the alphanumeric area. Am i missing a setting somewhere. Surely it must be able to be switched on or is there an app to sort it
I use the key pad to send text mesages and iv noticed that some times then I go to send a message predictive text has turned itself off, Its very annoying. Any one else noticed this? Running firmware version 50.0.005
`I'm using a Nokia 7.10 with Windows Phone 7.5 (8773)
When I type characters which it doesn't recognise the predictive text box stops displaying the characters and there is therefore no + at the end of the word to enable me to add it to predictive text.
this is really too funny. Anyone else noticed? I guess you have to have language set to 'english'.Using a Lumia 800:Open a document and type 'iph'. The suggestions box says: "Ooh IPhone Upgrade"Then type 'Lumia' and it says: "Punishment"
nokia 5230 removing predictive text from dictionary? everytime i try and enter 'you' I get 'yot' Nokia upport claim no way of removing single words [how stupid is that?] I tried using fe explore says not supported sis files. X plore went on the phone as an app and i found and removed the pred file but it still comes back as 'yot' when i use the predictive text. any suggestions please? Nokia suggested turning off pred text as the solution>> not the ideal option is it!
How is it that when I use predictive text, to spell (you) it spells yot first. I wanna fix it to spell you automatically without having to fix it but I dont know how.
Does anyone know how to access and alter the predictive text dictionary on my N86?I typed "WMV file" when sending a recent SMS." WMV" uses the same keys as "you", so any time I try to Type "you" in a message WMV pops up first. This is very annoying and I want to delete it but can't find how to do it.
My phone is set on predictive text. It used to work ok. Now when I enter the letter I (frequently used) it always predicts 4 - this is very annoying. It is the same with some other regularly used word. Can I reset it somehow?
I want to backup my own-added Predictive text words from my Nokia 5800 to install them back after Reset and In a N97. Please tell me how to do that, Is there any system files needs to be copyed from the phone? (Note: I wont to take a FULL Setteing backup useign content copier or Nokia Ovi suite)
Since updating to Belle, I am no longer able to use the dab radio app, which renders my £40 headset obsolete. Hopefully this app will be available again soon??
I want to know if Emails can now be saved in mass memory on N8 with Nokia Belle. Using the limited C: drive space is not an option as it gets full too fast.
I see TomTom has disappeared from the Nokia store...
The Nokia Maps app does pretty good nav but whereas e.g. TT will accept a postcode like CT16 2AB, Nokia Maps (or Drive as it is called; the Drive app shares the same database with the Maps app) accepts only CT162.
Today I tried to drive from Brighton (UK) to Biggin Hill Airport but Drive could not find Biggin Hill, which is weird. So I used an old Pocket/PC PDA with TT6 to get there. The Nokia apps did not show any roads/streets for a large area around the destination and on the way back it was about half an hour before I reached a map showing roads/streets. I deleted and reloaded the UK map (400MB) from Nokia and that fixed that bizzare issue, but having two ways to do the job is obviously desirable. And TT is a better app with a better database.
I have a nokia n8-00 with the product code of 059B663 and I have the latest nokia suite (3.6) Nokia Suite says everything is updated, i livein the philippines, they say nokia belle refresh is the latest here..
